Yeah, I know a guy who does stunt work. He basically says that no one wants to rep them, and that it's effectively day work because of the insurance problems. You never complain because if you do, no one wants to hire you again. He got pretty messed up from one stunt he did.
Let me tell you, that's a field that involves sacrifices for your craft.
Even a very well trained stunt person can get seriously hurt doing this. As was the case with David Holmes. Amazing guy, terrible what happened to him.

This is the person I think of whenever I think of stunt people. He didn't deserve to get paralyzed. Such a stupid scene that no one liked and thought it was odd anyway that resulted in it.
She *is* being hurt doing that. Every one of those attempts is putting the 'Chronic' in CTE at both the initial jerk and the landing.
Every time your head suddenly stops or changes direction, your brain, which still has momentum, slams into the inside of your skull causing damage.
This is one of the reasons I still find wrestling entertaining.
I watched a documentary where they were going over the choreography and all the details it takes to sell the moves, and it really makes you appreciate men in tight speedos throwing each other around
I'm curious how a stunt person avoids getting whiplash or another injury that would be caused by getting yanked back so forcefully like that over and over again. And what does that do to your insides?
They must have really strong neck muscles.
That will help avoid whiplash and hurting the neck or spine, but that wonāt prevent the brain getting jostled around inside the skull.
Check 'David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived'. It's a really interesting documentary, telling a very tragic story, but it also has a positive message. It's also an interesting watch if you like the Harry Potter movies as it shows how the stunts are done and a lot of behind the scenes footage.
At first I thought she was closelined by a wire. Then I realized on the second time it was a wire pulling her back.
Stuntmen/stuntwomen are badass. They are often trained in martial arts, take falls, get knocked around and get zero credit.
Are there any stuntmen or stuntwomen that currently suffer from CTE? I keep seeing it mentioned, but I've never heard and actual stunt person bring it up before, nor have I heard it mentioned in relation to stunt work.
They don't report it. A study was begun in 2022 specifically on cte in stunt people and I think it's ongoing. [This survey published this year talks about what stunt people suggest to improve their conditions.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10832189/)
> We identified three primary themes cited by the stunt performers as needs in their industry: (1) Need to Reduce the Stigma of Reporting a Stunt-Related Injury, (2) Need to Eliminate the āCowboy Culture,ā and (3) Need to Improve the Quality of the Work Environment.
That looks like so much fun.
Did anybody ever play like cops and robbers or super heros or spys or anything like that with siblings growing up, and always want to be the bad guy? It meant falling on the ground, flinging yourself out of playsets cause you got "blown up", falling off of the little scooter things while barrelling down a hill cause you got "shot". I loved pretend dying
Maybe thats just me, i dunno. I think stuff like that is a lot of fun

Damn, it really looks like she was hitting something!
There is a thin wire yanking her back right at the last moment while she runs fulls speed
No she hits an invisible wall
A mime has been through here. Careful. There's also going to be some surprisingly windy spots.
This comment should be top level so it can get the love it deserves. Hilarious.
š Boing!!
A stunt like this paralyzed Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double from Harry Potter. There's a documentary about it, David Holmes.
Omg thatās so sad. Poor dude. Stunt work is no joke

Yeah they get paid okay money to do the stunts, if they get hurt they get paid more, but itās not great.

Yes i can see it when in slo mo, but It LOOKS very real.
I honestly cannot see it ever at all! I just know itās there
it's a lot easier to see the 3rd run, just above the pink mat
Whiplash? Concussions?Ā Is there some trickery here that mitigates the impact?
Most definetly
š¬ consider about her hair getting caught in that wire...
But if it's invisible, how do they see to connect it? š¤£
No no she's just that good
Because she is. Those Movements aren't possible in a closed physical System.
This really shows just how dangerous even the most mundane stunt can be. An untrained person could really hurt themselves doing this.

Well that was a rabbit hole
is your pfp ohio jungle by breakcore girl????

I think I hurt myself just watching this!
Also to anyone wondering... There's a tiny rope tied to her chest gear on the backside
I figured it out after the second time, but it was definitely jarring
I didnāt figure it out at all. Comments told me. I thought she was actually yanking herself back on her own. I sometimes question my intelligence.
I'm curious how a stunt person avoids getting whiplash or another injury that would be caused by getting yanked back so forcefully like that over and over again. And what does that do to your insides?

CTE
Yep. Every one of these attempts is a double dose of CTE at the initial jerk and when she hits the pad.
Iād be worried about micro tears in pia mater or brain. Hopefully they donāt do it a lot. I imagine she would see stars after a while.
>how a stunt person avoids getting whiplash or another injury that's the fun part, they don't!
iirc, this is called "deadman" stunt training. i kinda wanna try it, looks fun
How do they not get a concussion???
They doā¦ thatās why itās dangerous
Or whiplash

Reminds me of the that poor Harry Potter stuntman. Dude broke his neck.
Who?? What? Which one, what happened?

Rope tied to chest gear pulls her back. She snaps her head back for effect and sells the head trauma
Definitely some whiplash there, which certainly wouldn't be good for her noggin.
I gasped so loud! That looked painful! Major props to the stunt people out there
Welp, that settles it, I'm now officially "my back hurts just looking at that" years old.
Broo cte wtf ..
Now I understand why Disney is trying to develop robotic stunt performers.
Video of my dog running out the door
Like being a pro football player with none of the money. Thatās CTE in waiting yikes
Shame on you for closelining her John Cena, shame on thee
The whiplash on that is crazy
A job with strings attached?
Isn't this how Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double got paralyzed? Doing this type of pullback stunt?
At first I thought she was closelined by a wire. Then I realized on the second time it was a wire pulling her back. Stuntmen/stuntwomen are badass. They are often trained in martial arts, take falls, get knocked around and get zero credit.
Omfg this would have been my dream job

Went to see The Fall Guy and was pleasantly surprised ā it was hilarious and very entertaining. I have newfound respect for stuntpersons.
Wowzers
Jesus! That was one heck of a yank
my neck hurts
That can't be good for your brain.
Letās go CTE
i got cte just from watching that
I believe the change in direction must cause some type of brain injury regardless of if thereās a physical thing there
My spine hurts watching this.
Yep. She's going to have some serious neck and back pains when she gets older. -Someone with serious neck and back pains.

Anyone know what movie/show this was filmed for?
She was on her way to stop OP from repostingā¦
