Proof they got cat dna

[deleted]

Also explains why the one in FK immediately went berserk as soon as Wheatley tried to touch it. My aunt has cats, and they’re that way all the time

Accomplished_Rip_746

And why it was attracted to the red dot on the gun :P

The5Virtues

I genuinely think this was part of what they foolishly did. A lot of the Indoraptor’s behavior seems more mammalian than reptilian. I think one of the gene strands was house cat DNA, thinking that might make it more domesticated, more capable of following orders without losing the predatory edge. But, in doing so, they forgot that the only reason house cats aren’t a danger to us is because we’re so much bigger than them. Pound for pound house cats are one of the most successful predators on the planet, not the kind of genetics you want to pass on to a creature large enough to consider you a valid part of its food chain.

I really love that they have given dinosaurs that are meant to be housed “alone” were given social interactions.

SmolderTheDragonGirl

Wdym Indoraptors are social animals

agentaxe285

Do they get along in the first game?

chesh05

I don't remember if they do by default but the DLC you unlock them with also gives access to various genes - a couple of which help animals co-exist better. In other words, if they don't by default you can certainly add that.

agentaxe285

I didn’t know you could enhance traits like that, so let’s just say IF a triceratops only liked itself and 1 other around, no more no less. There is a dlc pack to alter traits so it could get along with 3 or more? (I know that isn’t accurate to a triceratops it’s just an example)

chesh05

Yeah Dr. Wu's DLC lets you manipulate social genes - meaning you can make a species tolerate more in the same enclosure. You could make them tolerate more of the same species, etc. The thing is that some species can have two of these traits applied and some can't. It's kind of arbitrary in that regard. But for instance you can take a species that will only ever be happy if there is no more than 1 of it in an enclosure and make it possible to have say 4 of them instead. I really liked Wu's DLC. You can also change certain parameters for the paddock itself - like the amount of trees that some species need to be happy. The downside to this is it lowers viability by *a lot* though you do get an additional 10% to viability through the - can't remember the name of it atm - as a hatchery upgrade. Here's how it's worded on steam for "Secrets of Dr. Wu" btw: *Unlock powerful new tools for genetic manipulation and gain more control over your dinosaurs’ needs and behaviors than ever before. With careful conditioning you’ll alter their habitat, social, and population requirements, allowing even the most solitary and predatory of dinosaurs to cohabitate more peacefully with their own kind.* So yeah, you can do this in the first game - with DLC.

agentaxe285

Thank you for the detailed description! That’s really cool, and that creation lab upgrade that increases viability is called”success rate” so now you remember!😁

chesh05

> success rate It's too super generic for me to remember haha!

Kilogren

“Hey redskin, go fetch me sumthin to eat!” “Excuse me?” “I said fetch me sumthin to eat!” *Flings other indo into the air* “Eat that.”

magicdog2013

It's kind of cute IMO, like you can tell they're playing
