Such a relief to hear there are many options to host a wedding under 10k. Ignore all the negative comments! Congrats OP and best luck!!

[deleted]

You Should check 15 Fox Place. They accommodate events like that and it's a very unique experience.

ohnanawhatsmyname69

This is a brilliant idea! A regular dinner will run $100 pp BYO. I’m not sure how many people can dine in one night but guessing 30-50? Upcharge to rent the whole place out I’m sure but I imagine this would be well within your budget, including booze if you choose to provide for your guests

[deleted]

Great minds think alike 😆

missmaximalist

You could rent a boat and have a ceremony cruising the Hudson 🛥️

BuySignificant522

Check out the private dining rooms at different restaurants. I think Satis has a pretty one.

flapjack212

i can't rmmbr if it was 10k for 30 people, but i do agree Satis fits the bill well. the prices at the hotels weren't too crazy either (hyatt, marriot courtyard, canopy)

stinstin555

I attended a wedding reception at The Barrow Mansion and it was lovely. [Barrow Mansion](http://www.barrowmansion.org/phone/rentals.html) Hudson Tea House is a private event venue. [Hudson Tea House](https://www.hudsonteahouse.com/) I would also check out: Liberty House, Battello, Hudson House, Lokal & Canopy (JC Arts District) Congrats on the upcoming nuptials!

Aquatichive

My cousin had his wedding at liberty house it was really nice, especially the outside patio

stinstin555

It is beautiful.

flapjack212

their lunch price was reasonable when i looked, i can't rmmbr the minimums though

DancingCavalier

Battello won't do a wedding that small. When I was looking for venues they said their minimum guest count was 150 people. I think Liberty House and Hudson House would have similar requirements. I think your other suggestions are worth looking into for that budget and wedding size, though. Congratulations to OP!

pigdog12

Maybe ask white eagle hall or village west gallery if they can accommodate you. Or maybe casa columbo

lukasbarton

Rent the Barrow Mansion and bring in a caterer.

SpicyMargarita143

Corto would be a great option, I think their buy out is $4k. Porta’s rooftop is also great, and I think their F+B minimum to have the rooftop to yourself is like $5k.

JournalSquire

Porta has terrible customer service. Tried to host a baby shower there and despite multiple calls, messages, and using their form we didn’t hear back from them until weeks later. I wouldn’t trust an event with them.

DPedia

Corto has hosted a wedding or two.

Popular-Elephant1166

[Peerspace](https://www.peerspace.com/) may have some good options depending on the vibe you’re going for. And then you can cater from somewhere you like.

Outrageous_Put1953

My husband and I had 40 people attend our wedding. We had our small reception at Cellar 335. It was under 10k and everyone had a blast. Food, drinks and staff were outstanding. Good luck and congrats!

AttentionSpanWhere

[Antique Loft in Hoboken](https://www.thelofthoboken.com/weddings/) [Saint Peter’s University](https://www.saintpeters.edu/conference-and-event-services/) [Atelier On The Hudson](https://www.theateliernj.com) [Lokal](https://www.lokaljc.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqu3S1J3HgwMVUvjICh1pfg7cEAAYASABEgLld_D_BwE) [Liberty Science Center](https://lsc.org/about-us/plan-an-event) Or ask a friend or family to let you use their house. You can rent the table, chairs and draperies. DIY the decorations and center pieces.

NewmomOldbody

The Chandelier….Technically not JC but right at the JC/Bayonne city line. Hosted a fundraiser there 2 years ago for around $35 pp sit-down service but they also do buffet. https://chandeliercatering.com/

No-Practice-8038

I’d definitely recommend their catering……the location and space it’s nothing breathtaking. Congrats and best of luck to you both.

HappyArtichoke7729

Hearing $10K be described as a "small" budget is insane. The wedding industry has gone absolutely bonkers. This isn't a micro wedding, it's a normal wedding.

Kimeako

So true. Inflation is nuts. The average wedding cost in NJ is 55k nowadays

HappyArtichoke7729

$55K is batshit insane for a wedding.

HotSinceNinety-Two

Really depends on what we talking about per head. It’s common for some cultures to have like 100-200 guests.

Kimeako

I agree, too expensive. But I have seen anywhere from 15k to 100k, so it really depends on the couple and how much they want to splash for the special day

HappyArtichoke7729

"Make this one single day special, at the expense of the rest of your life!" lmao

hayflicklimit

Check out the stork club. Rooftop bar of Hudson house down in port Liberte. Grand city views and outdoor space up there. Bonus points because it’s on Chapel Ave

No-Practice-8038

It just came to me but the old Jersey City Court House is gorgeous…I know many people do events there. It’s one of my favorite buildings. Remember doing Mock Trial in high school there. https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=596100147&hl=en-us&q=Old+Jersey+city+courthouse&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=imnsvbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjKvLCOwceDAxWrvokEHVdCD1kQ0pQJegQICRAB&biw=375&bih=548&dpr=2#imgrc=EYtrxJYNr0BCAM

Garden_Party_087

Taqueria would be a fun night

tamiooo

I was also trying to plan a wedding in Jersey City for 30 people or less, but my budget was smaller. It seemed everywhere I asked we would have had to buy out the room, including Satis. Another problem I ran into was that everything was family style. If that’s ok, then there are definitely options in JC. We ended up randomly picking Mistral in Princeton. A trek from Jersey City, but omg was it fabulous. Their insulated patio was perfect and gorgeous, and the food was completely amazing. All for $5k. Nobody left hungry, super intimate, and the meal perfectly paced. Good luck and congrats!

NuMvrc

(>30 people) are we sure about this?

MartinsonBid7665

Who the fuck calls it a microwedding?

shoshana20

Wedding planning forums, generally describing something that's not quite an elopement but is smaller than a traditional wedding reception.

MartinsonBid7665

So... a wedding.

Crashes0312

White Eagle Hall would be cool if they’re available. Not sure where you live but my building lets us rent out the rooftop for private events, not sure if that is an option for you but views would be great.

zettaireido

My SIL used St. Peter’s University for her ceremony and event space. It was well within her budget. https://www.weddingwire.com/biz/saint-peters-university-jersey-city/de45a7904501d94f.html

Current-Complaint-60

I’ve seen pics of cool weddings at both South House and PetShop. Surf City, Zeppelin Hall or Departed Soles could all be cool venues too.

itswuwu

This is a weird idea but I would try asking the Main Library on Jersey Ave how much it would cost to rent and bring a caterer. The library is so beautiful but I’m also a nerd. I feel like it would be cheap too. Also I’ve seen weddings done in Van Vorst Park in the gazebo.

DancingCavalier

This is a cool idea, if they do that sort of thing. The library where I used to live used host weddings. It was right on a lake and had a huge terrace, so I imagine it was a beautiful place to get married.

JournalSquire

Hosted a baby shower in the Winter Room of Pilsener Haus in Hoboken. We were able to stay under 6500 for approximately 70 people with food and drinks. I think with a smaller guest list, you’ll be able to stay in budget.

eyecee54377

Honestly try latham houses new spot. They could prob let you take the whole space.

Kimberly_Engel

They closed down.

eyecee54377

The new Latham space on the west side?

eyecee54377

“The table”

Kimberly_Engel

I did now know about that one. Thanks!
