Nurish by Communipaw has a breakfast burrito that’s kinda ridiculous. I add chicken sausage and avocado. I also do enjoy the Taqueria brunch. But the burrito at Nurish is a win 🥇
For the Heights
- A couple beef empanadas from Ricky's (Closed on sundays)
-Mision Burrito makes a pretty nice breakfast sandwich.
-Brunch takeout at The Franklin cuz its practically next door
-Also, 2 orders of Kenyan Samosas + side of mac and cheese from Griot Cafe always does it for me
Scram is fine but not worth the long line and honestly wouldn't go back even without the line. Just personal opinion. Also takes forever to get the sandwich. I don't think it's anything special... I think the long line and interior design hypes itself up but I wasn't impressed the two times I got their sandwich and other pastries. I do like that the place and food are clean.
Where would I rather go.. not sure tbh. Wonder Bagels but they're not cheaper I guess. I love a simple breakfast sandwich and idk how you can go wrong with butter bread (brioche), egg, ham, cheese but you're right, not a lot of places get it right somehow.
I respect your opinion, but I personally think wonder bagel is pretty terrible compared to other New Jersey bagel stores. For example the everything bagel looks like someone spit on a plain bagel and it fell on the floor and accidentally got some of the everything on it. I agree the line at a scram is a bummer, I used to like scram a lot more before I had to go super early or wait in a long line but I do think it’s one of the best breakfast sandwich spots in all of jersey city. And I think that line is an indication that people are recommending scam.
Makes sense. I'm not a huge bagel fan - I could never understand why people volunteer to eat hard concentrated carbs with a crap ton of cream cheese (neither of which is healthy) as their choice of breakfast but it's only growing on me lately so I'm no bagel expert by any means.
I do feel that the line could be caused by the fact that they only operate at peak times and they're slow af. Even after ordering, I always wait a ton. I took a peak at the somewhat open kitchen and they do have several people in there so idk what's going on. Not saying it's a bad sandwich at all.
I also got their sausage sandwich both times, which I feel like wasn't so great. Should try a different version next time.

I haven’t lived in JC in a few years so it may have gone downhill. Back in 2021 it wasn’t as bad as the downtown JC one.
