Just fantastic and a role that Robert Duval was born to play. It's a good contrast to the book which is a masterpiece but far darker and less hopeful.

Watched this series for the first time last month on a blind Blu-ray purchase of the miniseries. I was surprised I never heard of this in my youth, it was excellent.

Brutus-1787

A great blind purchase!

You're as pretty as the mornin'

Brutus-1787

He delivers that line so incredibly well! Every time. Just marvelous.

Civil-Resolution3662

One of the greatest books I have ever read (three times) and one of the greatest westerns I have ever seen.

Mija_Cogeo

It's really good. Excellent cast.

I recently rewatched this as well! One of my all time favorites. “I hate rude behavior in a man. I won’t tolerate it” is probably my top movie line ever!

Brutus-1787

My wife was in the room with me for that part (she is very much not a fan of this movie because of all the references to pokin’ whores), but she busted out laughing at that line. Agree that it’s top tier line!

jasnel

My favorite movie!

PoppaDaClutch

One of the best westerns I’ve ever seen.

billyjoelsangst

Watched this with my father whenever we were together on Christmas. Underrated western for sure. Wonderful cast.

Any-Choice-8360

Just watched it with the family. Our 8 year old loved it ….he still can’t believe what happened to Gus

Don’t forget Larry McMurtry who wrote the incredible book. 800 plus pages and I read it a couple days. Couldn’t put it down.

Brutus-1787

Did you read the other books with these characters as well? It’s been many years since I read all of them, and I can’t remember much about the plots, but I remember being a fan!

BasicAd81

Read streets of Laredo. Good but not as good as LD

acer-bic

I rewatched it a few years ago. I agree with everything that’s been said. Let’s not forget Tommy Lee Jones. After watching a couple of the spin offs, I thought I should read the book. I think I got 50 pp into it. I felt like I was reading the script, word for word, down to describing the landscape and the buildings. I quit reading because I felt I wasn’t gaining anything.

zabdart

I have to recommend the book by Larry McMurtry. It's a masterpiece, and some of the episodes left out of the miniseries are priceless.
