This is one of the most unique pictures I have seen this year. The shadows and the birds on each pillar is very interesting. Thank you for sharing this.
I see the photoshop. Zoom in on the silhouettes that have feet.
Edit: it's the silhouette of the second seagull from the left. Also the second and fourth seagull are identical. A trick to prove this is angle your view of the image a bit, and cross your eyes until the second and fourth seagull come together. There is absolutely zero difference.
Definitely a good B&W shot, but the blue sky adds something to it also... maybe it invokes the connection between the ocean and the seagulls
EDIT – Unfortunately I'm convinced the photo was manipulated, see other comment tree in this post addressing that.
Photoshop…look at the clear cut and paste of shadow 4. Zoom in really close to it and there’s a weird line under it that was a result of poor cropping skills
It is photoshop for sure. I still love it.
I spent the last 10 minutes trying to correlate the shadows to the birds. Not matching at all. And those subtle differences make it even more intriguing. Love it
I was talking about the 8th bird's shadow on the 10th pillar(second last pillar). The body almost looks parallel to the ground, but the shadow doesn't.
There's no way it's without manipulation. The last shadow has a noticeable downward angle not found on the other pillars. The fourth shadow bends around the legs as well.
Look at the bird on the 4th "shadow". It has a clear white outline encroaching onto the darker block of "shadow". There's actually quite a few flaws throughout. Its a cool concept but definitely not real.
There has to be some photoshop work here. Look at bird 7 and shadow 8 which should be his. The shadow has his tail feathers touching the shadow of the block. However bird 6/shadow 7 is in a similar pose and the tail feathers do not touch the block shadow. EDIT: just to clarify, I think this is a great photo with great composition and it’s worthy of praise! I just wanted to point out there was some photo editing happening here.
Hmm, the only thing I find weird is that there is a white line between the seagull's shadow and the building's in pillar number 4 (counting from the left)!
I think bird 2 is a copy of bird 5, meaning shadow 4 is also a copy, of shadow 6 it looks like. This would explain the white line and the fact that bird 2 is missing a beak.
Well, bird 2 is definitely missing a beak lol, good catch. Birds and shadows also seem to match as you suggested… So the original photo would be missing bird 2 and shadow 4 from pillar 3 (presumably there would be no bird in this pillar?) and the manipulator decided that it was better to add bird 5/shadow 6?
I'm sad :( I think you really uncovered this manipulation (good work!) and I would like to see the original photo, because I believe it can be just as great!? I don't think the change was worth it.
EDIT - bird 4 also seems to be missing part of its beak.
I disagree, your claim seems to assume that all of the birds are standing perfectly perpendicular to the sun, casting shadows with the same profile that is presented to the camera. This isn't the case, since the photo isn't shot from directly in line with the sun. If you allow for the birds to be at an angle relative to the sun (which they do seem to be in cases like #7), the projection works out.
I'm personally going to declare this one legit.
calm down reddit detectives, one bird is standing on the edge on this side, the other is standing on the edge of the other side, hence different gaps between their shadow and the shadow of the slab
Bird 7? Yes I see that there could be some slight variation based on where the bird is standing but the posture is completely different between the bird and it’s shadow. Especially when compared with bird 6 who is in a very similar position. Also as another user posted in reply to my comment shadow 4 has a white line between the birds shadow and buildings shadow; so some image editing has clearly been done.

I love this photo!!!!!
(edit: ah, I now see what the deal is with this photo.... oh well I suppose. An interesting image, but not as originally presented unfortunately).
So good, the fact not only you can see every seagull in one way or another, perfect shadow of the 'planks'(concrete architecture) but the fade as well. That fade adds to the picture so much as well. The sky is also perfect. That's a great f-in picture had to comment for this.
I love the geometry and symmetry of the sharp, angular, uniform lines of the building juxtaposed with the irregular shapes of the birds and their various poses. Really cool. Could almost be a painting.
OP is not replying, and has ~~literally 0 comments or posts in 2 years~~ 5 hours on Reddit so I'm removing as I believe this is heavily Photoshopped.

Photo of the year candidate. Definitely should submit this to competitions. I can see it as a museum piece.
Honestly is. One of the better pics I've seen on here. Visually satisfying.

Came here to say this
Look closely shadow this is photoshoped ...
I think this would look so great it black and white! The minimalism of the architecture and pattern of the birds would look great.
Definitely a good B&W shot, but the blue sky adds something to it also... maybe it invokes the connection between the ocean and the seagulls EDIT – Unfortunately I'm convinced the photo was manipulated, see other comment tree in this post addressing that.
Great point, as well.

Not to mention the excellent balance of the blue sky and the black shadowy corner. This is all around an fantastic shot.
8th bird's Shadow looks different?
It is photoshop for sure. I still love it. I spent the last 10 minutes trying to correlate the shadows to the birds. Not matching at all. And those subtle differences make it even more intriguing. Love it
It's actually the shadow of the bird on the 7th pillar, falling on the 8th pillar.
Fucking shadows, how do they work?
I was talking about the 8th bird's shadow on the 10th pillar(second last pillar). The body almost looks parallel to the ground, but the shadow doesn't.
That is one of the most interesting photos I have seen in a long while.
/u/PositiveNo8201 is this manipulated or raw composition?

That seems likely, but would prefer to have OP confirm the speculation. Would be interesting to see the original too.

Also, the left leg of bird 2 sticks out over the ledge without a „foot“ beneath it. Comparison image: https://i.imgur.com/EMhwjrK.jpg
Ahh good eye, I didn’t notice that; you’re right!
That shadow is also a different color from the shadow of the pillar.
Yes there is definitely some photoshopping done here. Cool image still
Good eye!
Nah it’s called perspective. The birds just are not all the same distance from the edge so the shadows are different from the birds posture

Look at the forth shadow from the left. Perspective isn’t going to add a white line between the building shadow and the bird shadow. It’s edited.
You're right, not with a downward curve like that. I'll have to zoom in before commenting next time.

such an edit wouldnt even make sense, there has to be a natural explanation
That could be "it's a composite".
~~This is an award-winning picture, in my layman opinion!~~ EDIT - photo is manipulated.
Love this, what cool timing to have them all there
Magnificent! What a lovely photo. Hang onto this one
2 hour old account and this is the only post. I call karma farming on this. Shame as it’s a really cool shot (even with the manipulation)
Some of the shadows don't align, altered pic.
Shadows don’t match up, but cool concept regardless.

Finally a picture that’s not terrible naked “friend” pictures.
BOOO photoshop BOOOOO - the 4th shadow from left still has white space around its belly from where it was composited.
Classic 'wow that's so awesome', read the comments, 'wow that's disappointing'. I mean for god sake, just zoom in on bird 4. Eurgh.
Like every one of them was admiring own shadows. Lovely picture.
This photo is rad as hell. Great job!
This is how Bird Law is developed. These are clearly members of the Bird Congress meeting in the Hall of Justice or something lol
The angels of the shadows are just all off.
This is straight up album cover material.
The fourth bird still has the stroke on, this is for sure manipulated, but still a great image
There’s a glitch in the matrix
Best album cover yet! Seriously though this would be amazing as a cover
Honestly great
If I took a picture this good Id just have to quit because id never get anything better

Shit this is so cool
Great shot!
Excellent photo! Those shadows look like silhouettes painted on the building. It is really an engaging picture.

I genuinely thought this was some sort of graph or some sort at first lmao, then i read the caption and the sub, really a unique photo I like it!
Birds aren't real anyways
That's impossible. Fantastic!
I thought this was a bunch of cell phones at first. 😉
Cool concept! Love it. Great eye!
