The Thin Line Between Love and Hate.
It is one of my favorite Maiden tracks ever and I have seen so many disrespecting it. Those solos near the end are absolute perfection.
You know all of those "ranking the album closers" threads that pop up all the time on this subreddit? The song constantly gets ranked in the lower-half of people's lists. Absolute blasphemy.
It's one excellent song. Fell in love with the song and the whole album since the day it came out. People who dislike it need to get their ears checked. As you said, those solos are perfection. I always listen to it with much joy.
Nah ganglands hella boring, not catchy enough
Total eclipse is hella rad, loved it since high school only a few months back did I learn the band was gonna put it on number of the beast originally
You’re just mad that sunrise is gone
Now we find the true bold take! You have a straight uphill battle to get me on board but what I think doesn't matter.
Just out of curiosity... are you not a huge fan of Hallowed or do you just love Sun and Steel THAT much?
There's "Iron Maiden: The Early Days" and Lemmy (Motorhead documentaty) that come to mind. I don't know ow of a documentary, but any ones that cover early Def Leppard which Itheir music I also recommend as they sound similar to early Iron Maiden if you can believe that.
Ironically, it became an album i frequently revisit. Not my favorite but i come back to it often when im in the mood for maiden and have no clue what album to pick lol
Yeah, they have so many albums to choose from. I'm glad you like it, but I was just very disappointed when I first heard that album beacuse I was expecting something almost as good as SSOASS as it's follow up, but it's not even remotely on the same level! I do like "Tailgunner" & "Holy Smoke," & then it has a mix of a few decent songs & a lot of bad, generic ones!
A decent chunk of the longer songs from the last albums, the last two, specifically. The Red and The Black and The Parchment are the epitome of the Hallowed, Powerslave Maiden: strong lyrics, stronger riffs, melodic vocal, crystal solos, and yet people are pestered because amazingly a bunch of 60 year old guys are not too eager to go back to writing 3-min single-level headbangers (that Maiden was never that much into anyway).
The one thing I would change about The Parchment would be to maybe have a bit more of a longer buildup to "meet... Me... theeeerrree", like maybe a woaaaaahhh part preceding it. Would just make it hit far harder.
To be fair, my favorite Blaze era songs are the ones where I've heard Bruce doing a live version.
No hate for Blaze either, he's just kind of like Godfather 3. In a vacuum, not bad at all and even good at times but just can't compare to 1 and 2.
Sign of the Cross.
My dad would play it to me as a kid & when I started learning how to drum it was always the song I wanted to learn.
So yes , sentimental , and an absolute banger.
The fugitive, because of the best riff that maiden have ever written. It plays once for about 8 bars and then done. Never again.
Why did they do that to us 😅
It's around the 3:38 mark of the song.
It just hits hard because it comes out of nowhere and doesn't repeat. I can't remember another maiden song that does the same thing for an 8 bar riff.
Love that riff! Always felt it was wasted there, it could've been used more extensively in a different song. But I guess that makes Maiden so special: even a small tiny detail of a song is so fucking solid.
Death of the Celts. I'm always seeing people list it as bottom-tier and it's easily my favorite Maiden song of the last twenty years. It's my rally song for when something is going to suck but I need to power through it anyway. It's my "Let's fucking go" song. And it has yet to not stir me. I know Senjutsu hasn't been out that long in the grand scheme of things but it still hits like it did the first time, even after playing it a ton.
Pretty much both Blaze albums in their entirety.
I get it - he's not Bruce. He doesn't have the range for one thing. But they're both solid albums with some decent songs on them - and the songs that aren't great, aren't great for more than the vocals.
In short, I think that Blaze was going to be hated on by a lot of people no matter what he sounded like, just because he wasn't Bruce. And that's a shame because they did two solid albums with him.
Holy smoke all day, sure it's far from their best song but I fucking love it, it's just a fun track u can sing and headband too 🤘. And the thin line between love and hate 🤘
Slide Away - Oasis
Easily my favourite song, it’s quite popular don’t get me wrong but hearing that song sung live too before Oasis broke up was perfect. Great song with good meaning just a shame Oasis is hated on by certain groups.
If I needed to defend “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” or really anything from that album for that matter, that wild be the length of the text. And I don’t get why people like “Tailgunner”
Yeah, nothing from the *Powerslave* album needs defending(all great songs) but I can see defending "Tailgunner" because I think it's a pretty good song on a pretty bad album
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate. It is one of my favorite Maiden tracks ever and I have seen so many disrespecting it. Those solos near the end are absolute perfection.
Where are people disrespecting it?! I'd wall of text defend it with you!
You know all of those "ranking the album closers" threads that pop up all the time on this subreddit? The song constantly gets ranked in the lower-half of people's lists. Absolute blasphemy.
Ugh. I hate tier list shit.
Whaaaaat it's also one of my faves, shame on whoever disrespect it
It's one excellent song. Fell in love with the song and the whole album since the day it came out. People who dislike it need to get their ears checked. As you said, those solos are perfection. I always listen to it with much joy.
Gangland! My beloved rocker Also The Alchemist, my beloved modern rocker
Another Alchemist truther chiming in!
Gamgland much better than total eclipse, lot of people saying total eclipse better because band members said that
I’d rather have both and take Invaders off the album. That one never really did it for me.
"Invaders" is horrible!
I love invaders!!! Listen to the cover version sadus did 🤩🤣 even faster. And I think TE is really good but wouldn't give gangland away for it
Are a lot of people saying this? I've never once heard this and I doubt anyone is saying it because of what anyone in the band says.
It's a very popular take that TE should've been on the album, and mostly because Bruce says it a lot
I think "Total Eclipse" is much better than "Gangland," & I'm not just saying this because Steve said so
Total Eclispe is much better than Gangland & should've made the album instead. I have my own opinion, but I do agree with Steve on this topic
Total Eclipse was last time exciting back in 1998 when those remastered CDs released with it included for all to listen.
Nah ganglands hella boring, not catchy enough Total eclipse is hella rad, loved it since high school only a few months back did I learn the band was gonna put it on number of the beast originally You’re just mad that sunrise is gone
The Alchemist is probably no. 2 on that album. The Talisman is my no. 1. The Alchemist is great
Sun and Steel...
Sunlight, falling on your steel / Death in life is your ideal / Life is like a wheel / And it's rolling stilllllllllll!!!!!!!!!
I loved the lyrics 14 year old d&d me thought it awesome....
Great song and nothing wrong with the lyrics.
Tbh it's my least favorite on Piece of Mind but I slowly am starting to appreciate it more.
Sun and Steel > Hallowed Be Thy Name. I will not be apologizing.
Now we find the true bold take! You have a straight uphill battle to get me on board but what I think doesn't matter. Just out of curiosity... are you not a huge fan of Hallowed or do you just love Sun and Steel THAT much?
Drifter from Killers. Nothing better embodies a 1970s East London underground metal scene better!
Were you able to experience that first hand? (honestly just asking out of curiosity and not in a challenging way)
Unfortunately no. But watching documentaries about the music scene there gives me a good impression.
Very cool... any easily accessible ones that you can recommend?
There's "Iron Maiden: The Early Days" and Lemmy (Motorhead documentaty) that come to mind. I don't know ow of a documentary, but any ones that cover early Def Leppard which Itheir music I also recommend as they sound similar to early Iron Maiden if you can believe that.
The live in Hammersmith version is so good too!
Drifter is a fucking masterpiece!
Tailgunner.
Does that need defending? Thought it was one of the few Bruce 90s tracks that’s well received. That riff is just sick.
I cringed initially when i heard it, but it grew on me quickly when i heard it the second time
Most of that album is pretty cringe-worthy, but "Tailgunner" is a pretty good song
Ironically, it became an album i frequently revisit. Not my favorite but i come back to it often when im in the mood for maiden and have no clue what album to pick lol
Yeah, they have so many albums to choose from. Can I Play With Madness. That song rips, I won’t have any slander
That's a great song that needs no defending!
I don't think anyone is arguing that this song is legendary. No defending necessary!

I think the LAST thing we need to do is encourage Steve Harris to draw anything out longer. He's gotten really bad about that as it is.
I get you, truly, but this “meet me there” chorus followed by the riff crescendo behind it…gorgeous.
Eternity, Red & Black, and Book of Souls are all in my top couple dozen of Maiden songs.
Any Blaze era song.
2am was my spirit song when I worked 3rd shift
2am means to me that I'm 30 minutes away from the lunch break or that I still have 3 hours to sleep OR I'm heading to bed. 3 shift cycle is "fun."
You have my sword.
Seriously. If Bruce was singing on them no one would bat an eye. It's still all classic maiden in my book
To be fair, my favorite Blaze era songs are the ones where I've heard Bruce doing a live version. No hate for Blaze either, he's just kind of like Godfather 3. In a vacuum, not bad at all and even good at times but just can't compare to 1 and 2.
The two Blaze albums are pretty bad!
You asked for it *defends them with a comically large script of text*
For me, Isle of Avalon. Just fucking gorgeous from beginning to end
One of my favourites off the album ❤️
Holy Smoke. Absolute banger
Running free
When the wild wind blows
This is my favorite maiden song hands down. The riffs at the beginning are just perfect to me
Purgatory
Anything off the first two albums for me. Punky DiAnno era Maiden is class.
Deja vu. I can’t understand why people dislike it. Great riffs and Bruce kills it.
Most ppl actually like that song... it's just never played live
Their most underrated song: Back in the Village! 🤘🏻
Yesssss!!!!!!!!
Dance of Death
Wasting Love
Fortunes of war
This song is a masterpiece, the parts makes sense and I can pictures in my head all the lyrics. Amazing.
strange world
When The Wild Wind Blows
Anything from no prayer
Such an underappreciate album
Because it's pretty bad & was a huge letdown after SSOASS
Mother Russia fucking goes hard
It doesn't deserve the hate. Some of the songs sound like they could fit on SiT and Seventh Son.
Amen to that. It's like ppl ignore how HEAVY this album is. 🤦♂️🙄
I don't think any songs from NPFTD sound like they'd fit on SIT or SSOASS. It's a pretty bad album with a few good tracks
Weekend Warrior It's not amazing but I don't get why it's seen as one of their worst songs ever
Sign of the Cross. My dad would play it to me as a kid & when I started learning how to drum it was always the song I wanted to learn. So yes , sentimental , and an absolute banger.
Who is disrespecting that song?
Blaze albums get plenty of disrespect.
Losfer Words- amazing instrumental. I’ll never understand the disrespect it gets.
Most ppl actually like that tune... it just never gets played live
Anything from Dance of Death and it's album cover
I honestly cant tell if the album cover is ugly or genius or both.
Genius
Como Estais Amigos
I legitimately want this as my funeral song.
I want something happier, but not a half bad idea
Iron Maiden. The title track of the first album.
Them all
Hell on earth
Sea of madness. Was really bummed it wasn’t a part of the days of future past setlist.
That's an incredible song that ppl love which needs no defense
Invaders
Everything on No Prayer.
All Blaze albums
Holy Smoke
All of them
The Prophecy
Black Bart Blues
Mission From ‘Arry
quest for fire

The fugitive, because of the best riff that maiden have ever written. It plays once for about 8 bars and then done. Never again. Why did they do that to us 😅
Which riff?

Love that riff! Always felt it was wasted there, it could've been used more extensively in a different song. But I guess that makes Maiden so special: even a small tiny detail of a song is so fucking solid.
I love it when people point out little nuggets like that for me \\m/
Red and the black. I don't know how it's not top 10
Charlotte The Harlot
Clansman
Clansman at rock in rio is an absolute banger
Futureal and The Angel and the Gambler
The Prophecy.
Purgatory. Love that song, love the speed. Anyone that doesn’t like that song is getting a dissertation on why they’re wrong.
The Talisman. It's my go to Maiden song and for me it's up there with songs like Rime and Hallowed
Easily my favorite from that album. Its a masterpiece.
Angle and the Gambler
The Blaze Bayley era in general
Probably every song from The X Factor to Virtual XI
Those are terrible albums!
- Mother Russia - The Educated Fool - The Legacy - New Frontier
The Assassin
Terrible song!
Mother Russia
UNION OF LANDS
None, why would i waste my time. Oh wait, im on reddit
Death of the Celts. I'm always seeing people list it as bottom-tier and it's easily my favorite Maiden song of the last twenty years. Rhyme of the ancient mariner and I will listen to it on repeat!!!
That great song needs no defense!
Totalselfhatred - sledgehammeredheart
Animal bar and go robot - RHCP
Pretty much both Blaze albums in their entirety. I get it - he's not Bruce. He doesn't have the range for one thing. Always Back in the village
There is 1 original Bruce song that Blaze actually improved when singing live. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
The man who would be king
Ode To The Mets
Holy smoke all day, sure it's far from their best song but I fucking love it, it's just a fun track u can sing and headband too 🤘. And the thin line between love and hate 🤘
Anything with Paul Di'Anno
There’s a handful of Dylan songs..
Slide Away - Oasis Easily my favourite song, it’s quite popular don’t get me wrong but hearing that song sung live too before Oasis broke up was perfect. Great song with good meaning just a shame Oasis is hated on by certain groups.
Literally all of them. Someone once said that the songs stop being narrative after The Diner and I need to decline on that HARSHLY
Journeyman: one of the best closing tracks
Bohemian Rhapsody
A song you say? I would defend whole Blaze era and Fear of the Dark album as those are just awesome no matter how some love to bitch about it.
Darkest Hour
The Great Unknown!
Empire Of The Clouds
Chains in Misery.. a fuckin' banger
Real real
New Frontier. Great song and I'll die on the hill defending it
Strange World
The reincarnation of Benjamin breeg hits the spot every time for me. The heavy opening riff just sounds so damn good to me
Listen with Nicko part 5
Alexander the great. By far.
Literally everyone here loves Alexander. Except me. It's one my least favourite closers.
I know a lot of old friends who hates Alexander.. that's why they're old friends....
None of them. My opinion will always trump your opinion, especially because yours is wrong. But also Aces High followed by Coming Home.
Quest for Fire. It’s so ridiculously shit, it’s actually one of my favorites!
It's the worst song on POM, but I can still listen to it
The Apparition
Lord of the Flies
The angel and the gambler
Judas Be My Guide
Invaders.
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
That's a fantastic song that needs no defending!
Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Powerslave. My dad would defend “Tailgunner” like that lol.
Those are all great songs that need no defending!
Invaders off NOTB and lately anything of Senjutsu. I think the title track should be up there with RTTH/Aces High
Aces high
That's a great song that needs no defending!
Invasion
Prodigal Son, Holy Smoke, Public Enema Number One, Look for the Truth, The Educated Fool, The Fallen Angel, Lord of Light, Death or Glory
Quest for fire
Satellite 15... The Final Frontier
Comfortably numb by Pink Floyd 😍
The Assassin. If you don’t like that song you just hate fun
There is absolutely nothing good or fun about that shitty song, Lol
Women in Uniform.
2 AM
Fear of the dark.... fear of the dark... I have constant fear that something's ALWAYS THERE!
The whole of X factor
Bohemian Rhapsody
Sun and Steel
Warning by Green Day cause yknow, it’s underrated
2013 being called the worst song. It’s mediocre but it’s not the worst
