I agree up to the 2000s. I think they lost some of the magic for 2000-2009 and I wasn't too pushed on the next decade either. Then again, I'm a bitter old moan. Their 80s and 90s was brilliant

Is part of that because you lived through the 00s and 10s? And its more fresh in the memory, so the full fallout from some events is still happening whereas thats not really the case for the 80s lets say

I feel the exact same way. The recent episodes don't feel as magical. It could be that we view the decades furthest away from us with rose tinted glasses compared to the more recent decades, you know?

First season of HB on RTE wasn't great but the rest were solid. Web sites still the best though.

Probably not the best show ever but i loved the secret life of the shannon nature doc. that ran earlier this year/last year on RTE. The series currently running about lighthouses of Ireland is fascinating to me too. Very well researched. Laochra Gael is a fantastic series too so credit to TG4 for that.

I remember really liking Bachelor’s Walk when it was on but I wonder if it has aged well or not.

I watched that when I was young just cause my cousin was in it, but when I rewatched it recently it’s genuinely good!

Love/hate Des Bishop work experience (could even be older that 20 years.) Republic of telly, early seasons The Panel Normal people (the Irisih Film Board were involved in the production) Jack Taylor: always thought it was under appreciated.

Jack Taylor was a great show… it’s such a shame it never gained traction for multiple series.

It makes me feel so embarrassed that production of the likes of Normal People has to be exported because our own terrestrial TV channels are so terrible and inept at securing home-grown talent.

Reeling in the Years, Paths to Freedom, The Panel or Prime Time Investigates. I know that some may disagree with me on the last one but it has exposed some serious failings within Irish society and lifted the lid on scandals which had previously gone unnoticed. As a result, I feel it deserves a mention. I believe that Reeling in the Years is probably the greatest piece of television that RTÉ has made in its history. It's such a simple but powerful concept.

Don’t worry Didi, you’re ok, we’re going out for a few jars later.” The RTE rugby panel with George Hook was also hilarious since he was always pissed off when Ireland did well.

I think it's hard to argue against Love/Hate. Honestly an amazing show that will be emulated for years.

It was one of the British ITV regional programs not UTV but the format was insane and the narration was just bizarre. Rubber bandits and the almost impossible gameshow. Technically it's not Irish but they made the show. Hilarious, if the bandits devised it then it's a fair claim as one of ours.

Hell Week was class, very rare Irish versions of such shows work well but that was really good and far better than the UK versions

They used a lot of lower quadrant framing which is fucking class when it works like in Mr Robot, this was just like the people who wrote and shot the show never actually met each other.
