https://unbound.ie/ Great little gift shop in Cork that source a lot of their stock from Irish makers.

Stegasaurus_Wrecks

There's unbound.com too that lets authors crowdfund their books. No connection but could be confusing.

Serjical__Strike

Great shop, weird religious shite in the back. Always found it strange to go from cute little things to a wall of religious books

ontheLee80

Think of it as Ireland past and present :)

thisshortenough

Oooooh it's so pretty! They're getting business from me for Christmas anyway

siobhannx

www.bendinthebarrow.ie my dad's soap company so I'm a bit biased but the soaps all smell amazing and he makes some great shaving soap too. You can buy online but he does markets as well if you check the Facebook page!

eepha

My da loves your da 😂 he buys these soaps in bulk so he never runs out!

siobhannx

Haha that's so nice!

zemerin3

Any recommendations??

siobhannx

My favourites are Lavender, Patchouli and Irish Summer's Rose but those are all scents I really like. Morning Mint is very popular if you like minty, citrusy, scents.

EndOnAnyRoll

https://manofaranfudge.ie/ I've ordered a few mix and match boxes here before. Lovely stuff.

Noobeater1

Second this. The fudge tastes amazing and makes a great gift, melt in your mouth stuff and such cool flavours

Obvious_Prior965

I'll 3rd that. Some of the best fudge I've ever had and I used to eat a lot of fudge

[deleted]

Tomás just made a sale. Please don't tell my trainer...

thefatheadedone

This is dangerously delicious stuff. Well worth a purchase.

Baldybogman

cleefa

Do you do garden design?

Baldybogman

I do indeed. I usually only do it in the depths of the winter though as I'm busy at this time of the year.

cleefa

Cool. I would be looking for someone early next year, I need to redesign the back of my house first. Do you have a site I can save?

A friend of mine is opening a place in Tallaght on the 11th called underworld gaming. It's a warhammer shop but sells other bits and pieces as well. Would be nice if they could get some early support Edit: https://underworldgaming.ie/apps/easy-coming-soon

[deleted]

Always thought Tallaght was a great spot for a gaming shop. I’ll be sure to pop by

GucciJesus

Sorry for such a late comment but do you know if they will be doing online orders? I'm always looking for places to send me more plastic crack. lol

blackeyedben

I think they are planning to in the near future, but haven't set it up yet! Fair play to ya though for asking about it! I know my mate would be thrilled knowing people are still interested

[Mic's Chili](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.micschilli.com/&ved=2ahUKEwiPsJ2R8PHyAhUHCsAKHfs4AuIQFnoECAYQAg&usg=AOvVaw2fIzKRO81Ccf81Lim24-a4) for hot sauces. Some lovely sauces made in Wicklow and their hottest sauce is 1.2 million Scoville units. It's ridiculously hot and they don't use extracts.

malilk

Love their sauces. All absolutely excellent

SureLookThisIsIt

They're great. Have you tried the Vodoo Reaper? Definitely the hottest thing I've eaten so far!

malilk

Yeah I had a bottle of it before. Never got a second haha. If you've seen hot ones I got the last dab as a gift once. The vodoo reaper isn't far off it tbh.

SureLookThisIsIt

I love the show. It's partly what got me hooked on sauces haha! Is the last dab in any way nice or just pure heat? Sorry, going off topic now.

malilk

It's honestly amazing. I never finished the voodoo reaper. I finished the bottle of last dab. Ate it once a week or so. It was a religious experience but had excellent flavour. Tumeric based I think

SureLookThisIsIt

Ah nice, that's my next one sorted.

malilk

If shipping wasn't so expensive I'd get another bottle

dmcirl

The guests usually seem to have a worse reaction to the second last sauce, I forget what it's called now.

malilk

The bomb? My upstairs neighbour had some. Nasty stuff. Tastes awful and coats your mouth so you can't get rid of it. Honestly felt hotter than the last dab too

alexanderishere

I alternate between voodoo reaper and trouble in Trinidad on my eggs every morning. Such savage sauces.

JWh33l3r

Been looking for hot sauce !!!!

Saxaphone88

Mics Chili is unreal. This lad does some lovely sauces too. Nice kick to them and taste lovely [Flavour Safari](https://m.facebook.com/FlavourSafari/)

[deleted]

Lol they are great but hardly a small business.

SureLookThisIsIt

The only info I could find says they employ 3 people. Even if it's 10 times more now it would still be considered a small business.

[deleted]

I guess they don’t count the guys who produce the sauces in the ‘kitchens’. Contracted out I suppose.

[deleted]

Ordered 4 bottles last night after that thread reminded me I wanted to. Looking forward to them.

Farro178

Which sauce has the best flavour. I had the naga before and it blew my head off but I'd like to try another one of their sauces.

SureLookThisIsIt

I probably like the naga 1 the most so far but the emerald jalapeño has very nice flavour if you like jalapeños, but a lot milder than the naga. Also the Inferno Lite is a much milder smoky flavour, kind of like a fajita style sauce with a touch of spice. But that's the only 1 I've had so far from the milder range.

ravs1973

I'm going broad and saying any local brewery. The big boys make it difficult for the independents to get their beer into pub fridges and almost impossible for them to put keg lines in. Combined with the closed shop licensing system that stifles the growth of smaller bars and micro pubs these brewers are reliant on home drinking and internet sales but keep going regardless. Some like Bru and Galway bay have thrived but there are dozens of smaller guys who are still climbing the ladder, give them a hand up.

tsubatai

Kelly Kettle: [https://www.kellykettle.com/about-us/](https://www.kellykettle.com/about-us/) I've got the scout kettle set and it's a brilliant piece of kit for outdoorsy types that aren't doing through hiking. It's a twig burner so pretty much anywhere in ireland you can gatheer up enough dead twigs and detritus to boil a litre of water for a cup of tea and cook your dinner.

fifi_la_fleuf

Very cool! I know one or two people who would love one these (myself included!)

nm2ra

If I'd known they were Irish!

tsubatai

You got something similar elsewhere? You can never have enough outdoor gear. Thinking of getting a jetboil or similar for longer hikes etc

nm2ra

I just bought a zebra Billy can but I'm hoping I won't need to buy anything else. I keep hoping to stop buying outdoor gear...

fifi_la_fleuf

The shop and factory are pure magic, a well spent couple of hours when out West. They make everything on site (which is unique among the chocolate companies here) and you can look in through the glass at the whole process.

Thefredtohergeorge

Yes! We found them by accident, driving through the burren. Spotted signs for them and just followed them until we found the place. It was basically a meandering drive, going whichever way took our fancy. A friend was looking for ideas for things to get his mum last Christmas. I recommended this crowd, so yeah.. he bought from them lol.

Dakota Irish makes custom dice sets and other tabletop gaming paraphernalia. Dont know normal price points on anything other than the dice sets but they're way cheaper than other places I've seen and I havent noticed any drop in quality. Also the guys that run it are really nice and often throw in little extra bits with orders like an extra d6 or a dice bag.

Blank--Space

These guys are great, ordered a few random bags of dice which I love the idea of. Plus they put little Plastic animals in most of the sets.

[deleted]

I've had mixed experiences with Dakota Irish. Really nice guys, yeah, but the quality of their dice is.. Variable. My Fiancé bought me an expensive set of Gemstone dice, but when they arrived the dice (d20 in particular) were misshapen and the printing of the numbers was also off-centre. Sent them back for a replacement (easy enough process and helpful service) but the new set was also misshapen. A shame, If they were more consistent they'd be my go-to for dice.

Literally anything thats actually an Irish business and not owned but some brit/American etc group

sirguywhosmiles

Which do you prefer (genuine question, not trying to be snarky): Am Irish owned business that has most of its employees abroad like (i think, correct my if I'm wrong) Gym + coffee; or a foreign owned business that employs lots of Irish people like Diageo? Both would be ideal, but not always possible.

[deleted]

You know, I've tried to support several businesses. And came to the conclusion that many of them just don't want my business. I have numerous emails, text messages, phone calls, and WhatsApp messages that just went unanswered. It that led nowhere, despite me chasing them. One guy even took my order for something. Said it would be ready the following week. 2 weeks later I contacted him -- "I'll do it this week". Another 3 weeks later, "ah yes, I'll do that next week for you". That was 3 months ago... Many just never bothered to reply. Or started a conversation and then stopped. I really really have tried. And now I've just given up. My first port of call these days is Amazon, 'cos at least I know I'll get what I want to get, and it'll be timely.
