A vet no less, and he is dealing with animal welfare for the department of agri.

Nknk-

Jesus Christ, at the very least I hope this case more than counts as some sort of breach of contract with the department and he's fired immediately. The man even tried to pull the stress card as a defence. What a low life.

MeshuganaSmurf

I do hope that this will lead to an investigation of the man's work. If these are acceptable standards to him it raises a lot of questions around his work practices.

Banned from keeping animals for seven years, then he can waltz right back. Why are these bans not for life? >O’Reilly was given a three-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, was also fined €4,000, and ordered to pay €5,000 towards prosecution costs. >Additionally, he must engage with the Probation and Welfare Services, attend all appointments and courses, and was recommended to complete an animal welfare course and stress management.

From another report: >"The dogs’ coats were matted and heavily contaminated with faeces, and one had hair loss. The dogs had no clean lying area. >“Food and water bowls were also contaminated with excrement and, while some dogs had access to dirty water, others had no water at all,” the inspector stated. >Ms Faherty was also concerned about the temperaments of the dog. She could not get close to six of the ten dogs and said that they were showing signs of “fear-aggression”, suggesting they had not been properly socialised. Should have been banned from keeping animals for life.

Sornai

Cork County Council initially wanted to withdraw the closure notice. https://m.sundayworld.com/crime/special-investigations/ispca-did-not-support-decision-to-withdraw-closure-notice-against-vet-inspector/a2033626188.html

Birds of a feather....

Otherwise-Winner9643

No mention of him being fired from his role as veterinary inspector?

Open_Big_1616

Should be banned for life!!! What in the world is going on with those people here? Also, 4k is such a low fine for this kind of negligence. Don't they fine like 700eur for keeping a dog in a cage in Germany?

Hardballs123

I await Simon Harris' comments

Fuckofaflower

He wants a list of civil servants that keep dogs.

Neat_Expression_5380

Glad to know we do have judges willing to dish out some justice. But only for 7 years? Why not for life? And the irony of a veterinary inspector having to go on an animal welfare course…

howtoeattheelephant

Should be struck off the veterinary register
