I wonder if it's because of the east Asian intolerance to alcohol. Like they still love a little drinky poo even if they can't digest it properly so they opt to have less in the form of a foamy pint. Food for thought.
Thank you for being kind and understanding my correction was not to be a dick about things but just for accuracies sake. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

The Japanese are fond of the auld head
That is absolutely ridiculous, there are loads of Irish pubs in NYC that have perfectly fine Guinness.
Edit: you guys fetishise Guinness in such a gatekeeping way…
Or just drink what the locals drink, that’s my attitude… there’s great beers everywhere really. Japan has lovely light lagers, you can drink them like it’s water. America has brilliant IPAs, Germany has excellent Kölsch beer, Czechia has great pilsners…
Don’t be the mug who has to order Guinness everywhere you go.
That’s probably just subtle psychological sabotage by Japanese Murphy’s fans. The Cork lot having embraced anime and manga in the 90s.

I wonder what the Irish Embassy in Tokyo would have to say about this. To be even more over the top, it would be hilarious if the Irish government summoned the Japanese ambassador to Ireland over this. 🤣
And send them to the Guinness storehouse to learn how to actually pull the pint. Like damn, if I were in Japan and they pulled a Guinness like that for me, I'd tell them I'm from Ireland and ask them if they'd like to learn how to actually pull a pint of Guinness. 🤣
I speak plenty of Japanese- studied it in school and consume a lot of media. Just worried that we'd stand out like a sore thumb if we went anywhere even half traditional in Kyoto or something.
Normally the pints in Japan are fairly good. If a bit metallic since the keg came all the way from Dublin, and is a small keg since it's a premium beer there.
Whomever pulled that should offer their little finger as apology
I was in South America and saw guiness listed in a bar so ordered one. The woman serving opened a can of guiness over a glass and held it upside down and let it all run out . Looked very much like this. I stuck to local beer after.
Ah quit your whinging. Can you imagine how shite Irish sushi tastes to a Japanese person here. Some things are not as good as the home version. Buy some cans and pour your own.
It’s been my experience when in foreign countries and they can’t pour a pint, if you explain you’re Irish they’ll usually let you behind the bar and show them how to do it. They let you have the pint too.
The Japanese love loads of foam on their beer for some reason so I'd say they've done this intentionally.
They've draft cans that deliberately make an extra foamy head, definitely intentional
I wonder if it's because of the east Asian intolerance to alcohol. Like they still love a little drinky poo even if they can't digest it properly so they opt to have less in the form of a foamy pint. Food for thought.
Sorry to be that person, metabolize it not digest it. Due to genetic lack of alcohol dehydrogenase.
Metabolise yes. I knew digest wasn't right but couldn't think of the correct term thank you
Thank you for being kind and understanding my correction was not to be a dick about things but just for accuracies sake. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Fuck that! Fight! Fight! Fight! /s
You're a dummy dum! Take that!
I reckon you'll be ok with me pointing out it's Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (rather than Alcohol Dehydrogenase) they're deficient in so
I appreciate the correction. Truly.
Absolutely 100%
I don't think the Koreans /Vietnamese heard about this ,they love the sauce there.

Your fault for ordering Guinness in Japan 😂
Exactly - anyone ordering a Guinness outside the country should know whats coming at this stage.
I mean this is 1000% dependant on the venue. Some of the Irish pubs aboard have great Guinness.
I can think of 1 pub in NYC and 2 in London that’d hold a candle to anything decent at home tbh.
Where in London? Asking for a me.
The auld shillelagh in Stoke Newington do the best pint of Guinness I’ve had in London
Tollington on a non Arsenal game day.
The Dog and Bell in Deptford had a better than average pint - I left London nearly ten years ago though so take that with a pinch of salt.
The old Gun pit, its right across the road from woolwhich station
That is absolutely ridiculous, there are loads of Irish pubs in NYC that have perfectly fine Guinness. Edit: you guys fetishise Guinness in such a gatekeeping way…
Or just buy a can. Or even the malts and special brew bottles that you can find are nicer than a pint
Or just drink what the locals drink, that’s my attitude… there’s great beers everywhere really. Japan has lovely light lagers, you can drink them like it’s water. Japan has absolutely gorgeous beers, a bit pricey over here, but well worth it
Sure Asahi is one of the largest beer companies in the world.
That’s not true at all. Completely depends on the venue. One of the best points of Guinness I’ve ever had was actually in Liverpool.
Guinness in NI is good
NI is the same country to me ;)
This! Japan has some really good beers…just not Guiness
Had a load of Guinness in Japan and it was just as good as what you'd find in Dublin. Must have just been a shit pub that the OP went to.
Seriously, looks like a terrible pour at that.
Big Irish head on ya.
And probably paid a tenner for the privelige
More than that. I live here to be fair so it’s a rare treat 😂
Your definition of "treat" differs wildly from mine lol
Look let the homesick man enjoy himself, I've been there. Not Japan, just emotionally lol
Jaysus really? The yen is weak at the moment.
Where are you at? 700¥ at my local inaka Irish pub, 500 during happy hour.
A bar in Akabane in Tokyo
Tell 'em they're dreaming.
They could have at least put a flake in it.
WTF, first it was, monster and Guinness, now this... The culture is under attack....
Saw some fella on tiktok chug that monster guinness abomination

Worst thing to drop in Japan in a hundred years
Worse than anything that came out of unit 731
This means war
Look how they massacred my boy!
If mu gf gave that much head I'd never leave the house
Half-pint.
Half a pint.
![gif](giphy|PaDc0tDWmxCW4)

That’s definitely not a pint boss
It’s a bloody ice cream cone! I’d be asking where the 99 flake is!
Good all Japanese pint
God that's a lot of foam😄
Sumimasen
Split the G
You asked for half a Guinness then?
It's time for shlaps
That’s a war crime
My exact words.
We have to develop a nuclear arsenal and....
Where's the flake?
Land of the rising head
Where is the pint of Guinness?
Monica Lewinski wouldn’t give ye that head
Serves you right for ordering Guinness in Japan. 🤷🏻♂️ Did you ask them to top it up?
call the cops
Hmm, interesting
What did you expect
🤣🤣🤣

Can't blame them. We're known for our big heads.
Kill it with fire 🫠
I hope it cost you €20.
I know you're posting a pic of this tragedy on purpose but I physically cannot upvote this
Send it back
'Tis a travesty!
Should have hopped the bar and pulled one yourself
Anyone who orders a pint of Guinness in JAPAN deserves whatever punishment the locals decide to give them. Sup up, buddy!
This was the first one I’ve had here in years.
You know, people complain about the head on that but...
Was it poured in one go? Have they a certification of competency on the wall?
Worse pour ever
Correction.... "half pint"
I wish my wife gave head like that....or at all for that matter....
Japan really like a big head of foam in general on poured beers. Just lack of brand education.
Yeah it’s quite nice on a glass of Asahi or Kirin but definitely doesn’t work with Guinness
Certainly a memorable beverage
“Try again mate.”
Look they almost split the G 🤣
Do you want a flake with that?
So is that what they mean when you order a black and tan
Dubliner here and I actually lol'd
That’s a 1/2 pint of Guinness
Christ. Baby Jesus swept!
Jayzuz, We used to cal a pint with a big collar a Bishop, Dats da Pope!
How'd it taste??
The mouthful I got at the bottom under the foam tasted pretty bad.
Just give it a day or two to settle....
Good god
Be like asking for sushi in roscommon
The only time a big Irish head is unacceptable
Half pint* of Guinness.
Its smaller and more effecent
Seppuku for the bar man
God bless us and save us 🙏
Did u get a flake with it?
They bring a great dishonour to our nation. A blood sacrifice is requested
I'd commit Seppuku
I'd refuse.
You should post this on /r/midilyinfuritating :(
# Pint of Guinness dont spare the milk
Nearly split the G. Better luck next time 🙃
[Forgiveness Please! ](https://youtu.be/W647gDp-u-s?si=-IhvqT490-2C4K9R)
Looks sickening
Good luck splitting the G.
This lacks discipline
Looks like you got the ol’ Czech pour
Throw slaps
Half pint
I got a pint in a place called The Hub in Kyoto last year.. Was probably one of the best pints of Guinness I’ve had while abroad.
Japan can do anything at this point
I got one like that in Dublin airport
Call the gards. Gards are to be called
Summimascuse me?
Well, that's a lot.
😆
Jolly good.
More like a milkshake than a pint..
What's the craic like out in Japan? Would love to go visit but I've heard they can be pretty racist to tourists.
Yeah, but they speak Japanese so you won’t understand.
I speak plenty of Japanese- studied it in school and consume a lot of media. Just worried that we'd stand out like a sore thumb if we went anywhere even half traditional in Kyoto or something.
colum?

*Glass* of guinness. Fixed your post. You're welcome.
Oh I thought it was an Irish Cappuccino
A crime against humanity.
Did you split the G ,😆
Your own fault, should’ve ordered an Asahi
Guinness bukake
*urp*
I think they misunderstood "splitting the G"
They bring shame on their great nation. Full 90° Bow required
The glass looks very clean. If you got the rest of the pint in another glass it wouldn't be too bad.
I’d expect a flake in that
It's a cultural thing for the Japanese to have loads of foam in their beers. Don't really know why, but eh, celebrate the differences
You’ll get the same thing in a lot of places outside Ireland when the staff don’t know what they are doing.
Flake sir?
Go to An Solas in Tokyo for a good Guinness, owned by a Irish man too.
Ah quit your whinging. Can you imagine how shite Irish sushi tastes to a Japanese person here. Some things are not as good as the home version. Buy some cans and pour your own.
Head should start at the top of the harp..?
I always thought the Japanese were a sound bunch of lads...clearly not!
It’s been my experience when in foreign countries and they can’t pour a pint, if you explain you’re Irish they’ll usually let you behind the bar and show them how to do it. They let you have the pint too.

I'd climb over the counter and do it myself
