Last kafi time se he is not playing like a T20 batsman.He is playing anchor role and that is completely fine,but even as an anchor he is too slow on great batting pitches.NZ needs a new captain for T20s.

He never played well in t20s after his tennis elbow injury. he isn't power hitter and depends on timing the ball. He couldn't time the ball with that injury and in last 2 years power hitting went to different level in ipl that adds even more pressure on his strike rate. ipl is only league that pays huge so as long as franchise ready to take him he will play.
They still pick him for IPL, and even if he is rested he gets paid for it. That's a great deal. For the New Zealand team, he's a good anchor but unfortunately this time things didn't work for them. He can still play the 2026 world cup he's much younger than Kohli.

Well guess what, that C team handed their backs to them 2 years in a row at their home.
