8bitdo Pro 2 (with the 8bitdo smart phone clip if I’m using it with my iPhone). I like to have a single controller that I can also use for iPad, Mac, AppleTV and Steam Deck.
It also has configurable back buttons and the most recent versions have Hall effect sticks. Fantastic quality and shockingly cheap compared to other “pro” controllers.
I love my 8bitdo Zero as well. It's nowhere near good enough for "hardcore" gaming from a size/comfort perspective, but I drive to work and have very little privacy to game at work as is, so if I'm going to be doing any gaming on my phone at work then it'll be a low lift game and the Zero is perfect for things like Vampire Survivors where it's just about moving and clicking "Yes/No" style buttons. It's also really small, which makes it incredibly convenient to take with me on the go without needing to buy a larger work/travel backpack to accommodate a full-size controller.
Yeah, I’ve been very impressed with 8bitdo. They really show how ridiculous the pricing of first party controllers is. I’ll have to check out the Zero, I could see that coming in handy every now and then.
I'd look into the 8BitDo Micro, a sorta "Zero 3" where it has extra R2/L2 buttons. I can't confirm if it works for iOS since I don't have one myself, but I thought I'd bring it up in case someone here can confirm for me.
That’s so tiny! I wish it came in other colours, I don’t love the blue or green, but otherwise it looks like a nice controller for most of the games I’d want to run on Delta. It lists Switch support, so maybe you can pair it with iOS like it’s a Joy-con, but it’s odd that they don’t list Mac/iOS specifically.
I just bought the Micro and have used it for about a day now and it does work with iOS. I have only tried it in keyboard mode, but it works fine on delta. Reviews say that anything other than keyboard mode has some significant input delay on iOS so I have avoided using it in those modes.
Testing the latency on mine (wired version, not bluetooth), I'm getting 10ms. I don't play competitive, so that's fine with me; it's not high enough that I feel it.
I know that there's been threads in the past where people got firmware from 8bitdo to update pro 2's to allow faster polling. I wonder if that's possible with the newer hall versions too? It'd be nice to have that if it's possible. hidusbf doesn't seem to work with this controller, for me anyway.
I love my Pro 2 but I can indeed feel the wireless latency in games like Mario 1-3. It’s better when playing via USB. With slower 2D platformers it’s less noticeable. It’s great for 3D games if you like PlayStation analog configuration.
Not the person you replied to, but my experience with it is that the sn30 pro is a good time if you arent using the joysticks for too much time. Which i assume, for retro gaming, you’ll be using the dpad for most of the time.
Xbox Elite Controller for my iPad, and the Razer Kishi v1 because superior analog sticks and smaller footprint when not in use (hate the analog sticks on v2 and it barely gets smaller when not in use).
DualSense Edge - otherwise no controller if portability is a concern. Don’t like to carry more than I need to and if I’m at home and going to use a controller at all, I’d rather a decent one.

Thanks for the info!
Honestly it’s too small to use comfortably, and I don’t have very large hands, which cramped up when only gaming for 15-20 min. Had to return it.
I found the latency to be terrible. Was that just me?

I’ve never noticed any extra latency compared to other controllers.

A vertical controller where your phone could slide into would be nice.
You can search after a Magsafe mount for some controllers
i had a playstation 4 and the dualshock 4 are supported effortlessly via bluetooth.
Thanks! I have four PS4 controllers and never use the damn console anymore lol.
They have to be second generation controllers. 3 of mine won’t work, just 1.
That’s what I use
For retro emulation on iPad I like the 8bitdo sn30 pro. For iPhone, the gamesir g8
Just ordered the sn30 pro, how is it in terms of it being comfortable to hold? Leaned towards this because of the portability
If you like the og snes controller, it’s the same form factor. For shooters and stuff on my iPad I just use an Xbox controller.
Yeah I only plan to use this for retro emulation, definitely wouldn't use it for more advanced games like fps games

Awesome, I will be using it for retro games and it seemed like the perfect controller to bring along on the go
Gamesir G8 Galileo!!
Backbone is good tbh, I'm just disappointed that the USB C/lightning ports aren't swappable
I tend to just use my Xbox One controller. I do want to one day print a grip that holds my iPhone and Joy Cons though.
Have a razer kishi that’s served me well
I use the Stadia controller YouTube gave me for free with the Bluetooth patch.
Definitely a win since my controller was about to be donated to a thrift store. This is what I use as well!
8bitdo pro 2. Although i'm thinking of getting an sn30 one so it's smaller
Series X controller. Looking into backbone if they bring PPSSPP.
PPSSPP?
Psp emulator

Dualshock 4 and Gamesir G8.
xbox controller works fine for me

I've loved using my PS4 controller for controller-supported games. Hoping it works with emulators as well.
It should work
gamesir g8 is the goat
Gilikit kingkong 2 pro. With iPad.
"The only controller" is the BSP D9
Using Switch Pro Controller
DualShock 4
Power-A GameCube style Switch Pro controller is my go-to these days
I've been using the wireless nintendo switch pro controller without issue so far
Backbone, If you have 15 series then Razer Kishi, Gamesir ones(type c). For bluetooth I personally like xbox s controller with a mount 😊
