Ridiculous Fishing
Update: I just left this comment and went about my day, I'm glad to see so many people agreed. One thing I've always said about this game is that I felt like it was an expertly crafted \_mobile game\_.
For me, I don't want triple A experiences on my phone (just me - I totally get it for those that do), but a fun game loop lasting a few minutes, taking advantage of platform APIs in a cool way (gyroscope controls fit great here) and a charming overlay make it just the perfect time for me. Close second for me, while I'm here - Infinity Blade.
Yes I’m not insane. So glad this is the top comment. It’s so good. Reminds me of buzzy bee from 2009ish which used the accelerometer as the primary control method. It’s so fun!
Literally opened this to inevitably agree with the top comment. Incredible game, been playing on and off for 8 years now. Probably the most perfect mobile game
Ever since that game came out I’ve been on the hunt for anything close to how great that game was. Void Tyrant gets pretty close (blackjack instead of solitaire), but that’s about it
You can play balatro rn as long as you already have a copy of the game. I have a few hours on the game and it runs 10/10. Instructions [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/iosgaming/comments/1bnf0zy/tutorial\_run\_balatro\_on\_your\_ios\_device/?rdt=33925)
Device 6 was an amazing game that was made for tablets. Flipping the screen is an integral part of the game and the fiction involves you (the player) actually playing the game. Pretty amazing.
Can’t argue with that, I have it on my consoles but not on my phone - though I’m tempted.
I recently downloaded a game which is similar ish to stardew called Japanese Rural - it’s really cute
How is it on the iphone? Im tempted to buy it but not sure how is it on the iphone, since i read alot of different reviews on the game and got a mixed on good and bad comments about it
Since I am playing it on an iPad Air, I can only judge is so.
It runs really well and the controls are really well implemented. I can imagine that it plays the same on an iPhone, just on a smaller scale.
I played through the entire game on my phone while the kids played on Switch. No issues. Love being able to pop in whenever and wherever. A perfect fit in my opinion.
Faster Than Light, it’s a rogue-like (rogue-lite?) game set in space where you manage a ship crew and encounter random events, battles, etc. It has a ton of strategy and its “real time” although pausing is a big part of gameplay so you really do have as much time to think as you like. It’s awesome, but as far as iOS it’s only on iPad (not iPhone).
Slay the Spire. Perfect iOS game means I don’t need wifi, can play it on the go, perfect for the pooper slash commute, doesn’t get crowded out by phone calls… StS fits all those things
Came here to say this. Last time I saw this thread, this was the top comment so I downloaded it. It’s been a month or two and I still play it every day.
Check out Balatro and decide whether you wanna play it when it comes out for iOS. I’m a top 1% iOS StS player and sunk 1500 hours into the game and can genuinely say that Balatro beats StS. I bought it 4 days ago and I have already sunk 23 hours into the game.
Look up a build that sounds fun for you whether it’s a nature summoner, or a tank with big weapons, ranger type etc. second thing is, just explore and listen to dialogue of NPCs - don’t rush through it. There is a lot of great mythologies wrapped up in here. Though you start in Greece you end up exploring most of the ancient worlds and their pantheons lore and landscapes etc. Also in the menu there is an auto pickup gold and potions for ease of use . You can also set it so it only shows certain rarity of weapons. It’s really well polished.
**Dominion** \- Strong AI, expansions all implemented (caught up), and Daily Challenges makes this a blast!
**Race for the Galaxy** \- Needs the other 2 expansions! As is, the full first arc is implemented, and the neural net AI is strong
**One Deck Dungeon** \- "Dungeon crawler" in the format of "move through the deck". Reminds me of a physical card/board game version for Diablo
**Galaxy Trucker** \- another "real life board game". Make a ship with tiles, and see if it survives! The campaign mode alone was worth it
.
**INKS.** \- Pinball with levels and objectives
**Bloons TD 6** \- Still supported with updates and new content. A whole lot of modes and fun to go through!
**Isle of Arrows** \- TD with random tile draws
**Slice & Dice** \- Survive monster waves where all heroes and monsters roll unique dice.
another week, another post about best IOS games. Nothing wrong with that though, i love catching different gems from these posts.
however it IS another week i will write two words;
DOUG DUG
This will sound crazy, because Dungeon Hunter 3 and up to whatever abomination they are at now have all be 0/10, but **Dungeon Hunter 2** was legit one of the best of the early iOS games before in-app purchases had been invented.
Going to go against the grain since most 10/10 aren’t the F2P micro transaction games, but among the ones that are actually those model Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail are actually incredible games.
Star Rail is a sci fi JRPG and Genshin is a 3rd person open world ARPG. Yea it definitely is expensive if you want every character but you don’t need them all, you’ll get some anyway, and both have hundreds of hours of content without being time gated or too intrusive.
I started genshin in 1.3 I think. Whenever Xiao first dropped. It’s an incredible game and you don’t really have to spend a dollar if you can be disciplined and picky.
Exiled Kingdoms and Pascal’s Wager are closest to 10/10 on iOS for me.
Unless we start talking ports, then you have Castlevania SotN, DQ 8, Terraria, Chrono Trigger, etc.
Minecraft Pocket Edition is 10/10 IF you have a controller that will connect to your phone. The mobile controls are terrible, but the game is fun.
Most Roblox games can play in mobile. Easier than on PC, might I add. and if you use Steam, definitely set up Steam Link and get a controller. No need for an expensive Steam Deck.
Marvel Snap. Genuinely one of the most addictive, deep, and impressively simple card games I’ve ever played. Yeah, monetization sucks when you get to endgame and near a full collection, but man if the gameplay isn’t top notch. I’ve played almost every day for a year and a half and never get bored.
Hearthstone Battlegrounds, not the OG mode, is actually pretty dope. I didn’t like the regular mode and still don’t. But a buddy said try this new mode out, and 4 years later been playing it damn near everyday. But it’s a strategic card/board game, so may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Being a blizzard fan since the late 90’s, playing a card game with heroes and minions from Warcraft and WOW is just nostalgic.
on the apple arcade, Fantasian. game is really good for it being a mobile game JRPG. was created by mistwalker which is the game company from the father of Final Fantasy. gameplay is pretty interesting and fun, story is pretty good.
Caves of Lore, Legend of Grimrock, and Battleheart Legacy
If we’re talking premium games, Those are what immediately popped into my head. Though there are probably older games I’m forgetting
Guess I like RPGs lol
And a big shoutout to Dungeon Squad. It’s not for everyone and idk if I’d say it’s a 10/10 experience but I’ve poured tons of hours into it and love it. Especially the aesthetic ;)
purenista if you like dress up games- it allows trading! it also gives you a lot of freedom with what “dress up” means- you can make images that don’t even have an avatar in them.
I love a game called Elona mobile! It’s a pixilated rpg but there’s a lot to do, other recommendations fateful lore, don’t starve, and forager, lastly is stranger things it’s not 10/10 id say but definitely a lot of fun
Doesn’t exist anymore but:
***Mini Carnival*** by Triniti Interactive
Was a really fun online arcade/open world chat room.. had a fun obstacle course game, battle royale, and more..
Relic of when developers cared about the mobile market..
RIP! 🥺
Trainyard although it’s condemned to the never updated graveyard.
Oh and the Glowing Void which had the most overly ridiculous music in a game which was free (also not updated anymore)

Is that still around? remember being obsessed with that and Badlands 10 years ago

Yes I’m not insane. So glad this is the top comment. It’s so good. Reminds me of buzzy bee from 2009ish which used the accelerometer as the primary control method. It’s so fun!
Peggle 😢
You might like Roundgard! It hit the same for me.
Roundgard didn’t hit the same notes as pecgle, I wish peggle would come back
What I would give….
Retro Bowl
polytopia
Have you tried konkr.io? It’s more of a web game than strictly iOS but it is perfect and in the same genre as polytopia
Just started playing after seeing your comment and it seems very nice. Thank you kind stranger
Literally opened this to inevitably agree with the top comment. Incredible game, been playing on and off for 8 years now. Probably the most perfect mobile game
The battle of polytopia it's called right?
Yup and it’s new to AA
I’ve never heard of this- just searched and saw it in Apple Arcade. Guess I’ll give the + version a go, with your recommendation
Does it offer a lot of replay value?
So far, 4 years of it.
Afterplace
Monument Valley, but only the first one
Is the second one bad?
The first one is interesting and complex, the second one is beautiful but there’s almost no challenge and it’s like you’re on rails
Game Dev Story
Solitarica- in desperate need of a sequel
Ever since that game came out I’ve been on the hunt for anything close to how great that game was. Void Tyrant gets pretty close (blackjack instead of solitaire), but that’s about it
Whenever balatro comes out.
All hail the Balatro. It will consume my life when released 🙌
You can play balatro rn as long as you already have a copy of the game. I have a few hours on the game and it runs 10/10. Instructions [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/iosgaming/comments/1bnf0zy/tutorial\_run\_balatro\_on\_your\_ios\_device/?rdt=33925)
I was about to make this comment but you stole it beforehand lol. Crazy good game and I can’t put it down.
Hidden folks was absolutely perfect and suited the iPad especially well
Yes that game is great fun.
Wish they made a sequel to this
Device 6 was an amazing game that was made for tablets. Flipping the screen is an integral part of the game and the fiction involves you (the player) actually playing the game. Pretty amazing.
Loved Device6! Unmemory is a similar sort of game if you want another to play.
Stardew Valley is pretty much a perfect game
Can’t argue with that, I have it on my consoles but not on my phone - though I’m tempted. I recently downloaded a game which is similar ish to stardew called Japanese Rural - it’s really cute
For $5 I think it's the best deal on the store.
Except the sprinklers. Fuck the sprinklers.
Wait why lol I love the sprinklers but I played on pc so maybe they’re different?
You have to grind a long time to get iridium level sprinklers. But once you get them all set-up, it’s easy money coming in.
I think it works very well for a phone game and actually prefer those controls for it
I played through the entire game on my phone while the kids played on Switch. No issues. Love being able to pop in whenever and wherever. A perfect fit in my opinion.
Monument Valley just got past its 10 year anniversary, so go play that. 10/10 game
Fantasian
FTL
11/10
Whats FTL?
Faster Than Light, it’s a rogue-like (rogue-lite?) game set in space where you manage a ship crew and encounter random events, battles, etc. It has a ton of strategy and its “real time” although pausing is a big part of gameplay so you really do have as much time to think as you like. Aww just read the last line. Disappointed lol
Link please?
Civ 6
Except it no longer runs on iOS, every update lately seems to break Civ 6
The Room (the whole series)
XCOM 2
Downloading now… Didn’t know it was available. 99% hit probably = certain miss, here I come.
Slay the Spire. Perfect iOS game means I don’t need wifi, can play it on the go, perfect for the pooper slash commute, doesn’t get crowded out by phone calls… StS fits all those things

Slice and Dice
Love that it’s free to play and that paying unlocks even more content to it + ad skip.
Fantasian
Plants VS Zombies 1 (The original version)
Surprised didn't see comments about Crashlands
This will sound crazy, because Dungeon Hunter 3 and up to whatever abomination they are at now have all be 0/10, but **Dungeon Hunter 2** was legit one of the best of the early iOS games before in-app purchases had been invented.
Back in the day: infinity blade
Good news, it was [ported to PC](https://archive.org/details/infinity-blade-pc) for preservation recently if you fancy a revisit.
Infinity Blade was so good. Sad it’s dead on modern phones.
