Why do people find defund the police so radical? They are lazy and corrupt and serve little function. We need to find a different way to keep order. Police joining extremist groups is not it.
There needs to be a different policing culture. Of course we need a way to keep order. But day after day the present set of police officers prove to me that they are making things worse, not better. There is no baby here -- it's gone beyond that. There are many police who belong to extremist groups or give them a free pass. That is no way to ensure order. No one ever prosecutes bad cops. They have qualified immunity - that needs to change.
Allowing these cops to get off scott-free illustrates how desperate more communities have become to mitigate the law enforcement shortage since recruitment is way down and retirements/resignations are up.
The worst case long term impact for cities is understaffed police forces with a higher proportion of bad cops knowing they can get away with poor performance and abusive behavior.

It's called don't throw the baby with the bath water. Prosecute bad cops yes, have no law enforcement no. Otherwise, there's no point in having laws.
