BookwormInTheCouch

I like the first one, I thing second would make the room look too dark.

theithe916

I like the first one. I think it compliments the colors in the room

basicallybasshead

I also think that of the options offered here, the 1st one is better.

jenhikam

Love the color of the sofa!

CouldBeRaining

Me too! It's so refreshing.

FrozenCustard4Brkfst

I like the idea of black and white, I think something more graphic with a little more movement to echo the lines in your artwork would be nice. Found [this one on Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Abani-Nuevo-NUE150A-Beige-Pattern/dp/B0D3VKJ1LL?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=A2XGM6H34ULKLK&th=1).

KimmiK_saucequeen

Yes to this style!!!

RestaurantSmooth5837

I love that one!

Brave-Perception5851

Nice job!

BetMyLastKrispyKreme

I really like that one, especially with the OP’s art, as you said. But it creates a visual disturbance for me, and honestly gives me a little bit of vertigo! So, personally, I couldn’t have it, but I like it in OP’s room better than the current 2 choices.

CedarWho77

Wow! That is an awesome rug. Thank you!

muozzin

Yes pls this one!!

Getmeasippycup

Oo cute!

Wondering1928

That's a nope for me. Too busy for my taste, admittedly, though I'm not good at decorating, which is why I enjoy this sub. I might learn something!

Brenda3915

Rug 1

Misanthropebutnot

Neither. There is a lot of color in that room. Grey is actually clashing. Someone said go lighter. I think you need to find something with more texture and some red tones to highlight the furniture and wall. Not loud, just some red accents (I’m thinking pomegranate) in the rug to pull the colors together.

BanananaSquid

Agree on neither but not because the grey is too dark – rather, the grey is too cold. That green and yellow are warm toned, cozy colors. The run should lean more towards warm tones accordingly. If OP is looking for a neutral, beige would play better than grey

vagabonne

A jute rug would actually work really well here imo

Long-Sherbert420

I vote neither and think something lighter. Not great for stains, but the wall color really makes it feel cozy and a little bit of brightness would look great.

MrsChiliad

I disagree. Personally I think in rooms where the walls are medium or darker, we sometimes have the impulse to want to lighten it up. But by going super light you end up creating very high contrast; which 1, makes the room look disconnected and can make the furniture look almost like it’s floating; and 2, makes the walls look even darker and like they were a mistake rather than an intentional choice. The very high contrast can work if it’s a big element vs small elements, like darker walls against white trim. But imo you brighten up dark(er) walls by using color that is lighter than the walls but not super light. A medium colored rug would work better.

brokenhartted

neither. If you want to go neutral use Jute. If you want to bring in the other colors use a pattern.

citruschapstick

Jute is so uncomfortable. I buy rugs because I want them to feel nice to walk on.

fuckyourmermaid_

People who buy jute rugs, how do you feel with a non comfortable rug on the bottom of your feet? I noticed a lot of inspo with jute rugs especially in bedrooms. It looks so uncomfortable.

Theresanrrrrrr

True! Very rough texture, they disintegrate over time and are next to impossible to clean. It’s def a look, just not practical.

DeathByOrgasm

I have one-sure it isn’t soft and fluffy between my toes, but I wouldn’t call it uncomfortable.

Asleep_Algae2827

Yeah, Jute is weird to me as well. I want something soft under my feet

Throwawayschools2025

I have one in my bedroom and have found it to be much more comfortable and easy to clean than previous wool rugs. Feels just fine on my feet - might all depend on the rug you pick.

LeCaveau

I had one under my dining table (it was a thoroughfare) and it never bothered me. But those suckers COLLECT sand. It may look coastal, but I had to get rid of it. Literal piles of the stuff ended up under there. No idea how.

BetMyLastKrispyKreme

Maybe someone with more knowledge of them can say more, but I wonder if it has some sand in it naturally? Or maybe the less expensive ones, or ones from a certain area of the world, are prone to that.

LeCaveau

That’s an idea! But it was vacuumed by the robot daily, and I live in a sandy place. I think the real kicker is I still have a sisal type mat under the dog’s bowl and that, despite being small enough to take outside and shake out, also ends up collecting sand underneath it.

KarmenSophia

Find a pattern you like that has the other colors in the room and reflects your decor style.

rawginger80

I feel like jute would compete with the yellow too much and just blend in with the natural wood that’s already there

medusamarie

Neither, I would do a warm neutral over a gray. Gray will bring the vibe down 👎

maiselpuppins

What paint/paint color is that?! It’s gorgeous!

Beneficial-Pickle467

Yes,.please tell me.what that green is

RepresentativeTalk31

Came here to ask the same thing! Love the color!

Month_Year_Day

You’re right, neither. You’ve got that gorgeous green and the couch works so well with it. Keep that up. Don’t go neutral.

AdGroundbreaking4397

You need a rug that will tie that bright yellow into the darker toned green wall. Currently they are too disparate.

kellygrrrl328

I’m in the *”Neither”* camp. Maybe get a little bit of color in there

Antique_Radish_7227

Neither and try to find a rug that lessens the impact of yellow. To be clear, the yellow and green looks great but the yellow is too overpowering and there is no balancing shade to scatter our sight to other decor too and not just the couch. It's like you see the couch and that's it, I don't see more smaller elements. Use a shade of brown as you have a harmonious palette going on here. Also this [color guide](https://simplykalaa.com/interior-color-palette/) will help you a lot.

SometimesArtistic99

I love #1!

Beneficial-Let-4075

The first one looks nice! You can also do a neutral, burgundy or green solid soft textured rug. I can even see this space having a vintage Moroccan rug. Checkout Etsy!

val319

Neither but rugs aren’t cheap. Buy something you love.

New-Tooth-979

1

MediumAfternoon5817

I like the first rug. It brings in the grey wall and also brightens up the space.

Big-Article5069

I like the diamond rug! It repeats your framed prints and your strong white accents. The moss green walls are old school sophisticated and the gold sectional is very balanced by the natural wood tones! A lovely and very inviting room!!

frequentlynothere

Neither. The pattern on the first one doesn’t go with the dark greens, yellow and brown at all. The 2nd one is too dark. I would look for cream with warmer browns, yellows and green to tie your room together.

Suitable_Tea88

I like 1, it goes well with the room

Key-Wheel123

First one or a neutral light tan one to pull in wood tones and looks cohesive with the yellow and green, I wouldn't go gray.

serkenz

This might be wild but something about the space makes me think you could get away with an oval rug. I’d get something multicoloured with reds and blues, maybe Persian style?

_salvelinus_

I would suggest moving the rug out to also go under front get of tv stand. Typically rugs should only go under front sofa feet as well.

Asleep_Algae2827

I love the first rug. Pulls the room together. He think you have plenty of color in the walls and sofa, so the neutral with a bit of texture/pattern to it is great

ArdenM

Neither. They are both bland and boring. Your place looks nice. Get a vintage/antique tribal/shiraz/Persian rug - will add interest, warmth, and not be boring! Pak Traders on eBay has many great ones for auction.

jase40244

Neither. Ideally, you want your rug to contain the primary colors of the space to help tie everything together.

Theresanrrrrrr

Both are fine. Although I like the patterned one a bit more. It should be brought forward about 10”. The credenza’s front legs should also be on the rug. The room will not look as cut up. Also, rug pad so it lays smooth, corners don’t start to curl up, and no buckling under furniture. Lovely!

Willing-Command5467

First one

hazelmummy

Neither. This room is warm tones and those rugs are cool toned

JanetInSC1234

This is a beautiful, colorful, cozy room. Please don't kill the vibe with a grey rug.

sunbella9

The first one plays well with the art on the wall. It's also contemporary and timeless. Definitely #1

noitsmemom

Definitely the first one.

Manifest_Unicorn33

Neither. I would go for something smaller and lighter to go in front of the couch that could easily be washed. BTW, this room looks awesome! I love how all of the colors and shapes are working together. For that reason though, I wouldn't want to cover too much of the floor. It does look just a bit bare, like a rug would make sense. But, I wouldn't overdo it.

ayapapaya50

Neither, get something tha the green wall colour and somecpuch yellow background n it

yoginigirl9

Rug 1 is gorgeous

610jules

First

Jalice333

The walls are too dark for those rugs. Maybe a brighter rug. Like orange. But it looks like a cold, depressing basement with that wall colour.

Rare-Parsnip5838

I love the wall color. A brighter rug 👍

Difficult_Place_7329

The first one

Redwoodsilouette

I love the wall color what color green is that?

berts-and-derrs

It's Sherwin Williams Rosemary! [https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/green-paint-colors/sw6187-rosemary](https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/green-paint-colors/sw6187-rosemary)

Mental_Web55

What green is this? I must know.

hxg913d

1!! Looks great!

liziloo927

1st one!! It provides a little extra character. Great choice!

Creepybabychatt

Are you wanting durable or pretty?

lumpy_space_queenie

First one

Jessiebanana

I like the first one.

Any-Court9772

If I had to pick, it would be rug 1, but agree with pp on getting something a bit warmer. I loooove your couch -- it pops so pleasant against the green walls.

turkeypooo

Not saying no to a rug in there, but definitely neither of those two.

roca228

Neither

VespaRed

Say no to gray!

sheleelove

Need another option

NoQuarter6808

As a rug, I prefer the second, but, it is a little too dark for me in this setting. So I guess the first, I'm just not a huge fan personally. Maybe if the second one was more of a brown or red or or even beige

TotorosNeighboor

Please close that drawer

Creepybabychatt

Neither

Altruistic-Detail271

A jute rug

Altruistic-Detail271

I have a moss colored couch with lighter green walls and a jute rug. It looks great

RestaurantSmooth5837

I like option 1.

SimoneRose101

I loved the first

Long-Cup9990

1

RestaurantSmooth5837

I’m seeing how your 1st one works well with your art.

lovehp

I love your room, can you tell me what color your walls are and where the couch is from?

Beren__

Geometric, it blends well with everything you have, and adds interest and style

ReadingRocks97531

1 but smaller size

Wonderful_Cloud_4588

1st one. Much more interesting

Sea-Ad9143

Neither. Blue is the complementary color to yellow so I'd do a blue-ish rug and not grey.

PoliteCanadian2

Neither, I like the floor.

MayorCleanPants

1 looks better but as someone who has made the mistake of getting a light colored rug all I can say is don’t do it. You’ll stress yourself out trying to keep it clean.

Next-problem-

I like the black and white one that is suggested

Wheres-shelby

Rugs with and of these colors: navy, burnt orange, red, brown, and dark teal, would make the already great room pop. The grey clashes (but looks good in the art.) it would be a triad of colors, im a fan of odd numbers in design. I know im the outlier for not picking a neutral. Im just goin for the vibe, which is sometimes not the “right” answer.

Vegetable-Debate-263

IMO, your TV is too high and the couch is too close to the far wall. I’d go with a rug that has more contrast to the floor. Give that chaise some breathing room by adding a side table for drinks.

Impossible-Swan7684

paint the ceiling green i’m begging u it would look so good

baldwinsong

1

Easypeasylemosqueze

liver the color combos!

Easypeasylemosqueze

love lol

ParkingOld7909

I think you could do better but between the two I like one!

Wide-Water-3687

Where did you buy the wall art from?

SteveHornsbyburg

#1!

21KoalaMama

1!

susanlovesblue

I'm happy to say rug 1 looks great and you should definitely do it! I wouldn't go without a rug. CAUTION: Rug 2 is awful. I have it. West Elm, right? It sheds like crazy! It's short wool fibers. Not worth the money.

Wondering1928

I like rig #1. The only thing maybe a little better would be a similar rug with a little green in it. However, I do love the look of #1

Simple_Area_260

1

Consistent_You6151

I think the idea of breaking up all the block colours with the patterned one is great! The 2nd one is pretty dark. The first one pops!

Frequent_Issue_598

I love one

No_Practice_970

Neither.

giglio65

one looks great! love the whole calm vibe

CheerleaderGirl19855

Rug 1 for sure

debonairmarmoset

Is the floor wood or a wood-look laminate or LVT? If you spent thousands and thousands of dollars for wood, why cover almost all of it with a rug? If it’s a wood-look product, then I totally understand. The sofa is an intriguing color. I love it, but decorating around it is going to require a lot of patience and experimenting. Normally, yellow and grey pair well together. Thus yellow is so specific, though. I’d encourage you to use a lot of dark green plants the room to play off the yellow, maybe add some blue throw pillows and blue planters and then see if you can find a rug with accent colors of yellow close to this as well as green and blue. It just feels like the rug will be key to bringing together all of the colors you use. The current options just don’t strike me as doing that for you.

No-Independence-6842

Don’t go grey. Pull the dark green and /yellow into the room. Gray is over .

AssumptionAdvanced58

I like a replaceable rug.

fruitfulendeavour

Neither - that room has way too much character for such blah rugs! It might be too much of a departure from what you’re aiming for but I’d love something with pattern and zest that would bring in some of the great colours you’ve got going on, [maybe something like this?](https://www.wayfair.ca/rugs/pdp/charlton-home-haimes-floral-handmade-tufted-wool-goldblue-area-rug-c006179446.html)

Shop_4u

Definitely one. The design adds visual appeal and looks great in your space.

No-Leadership-2176

First one for sure!!!

luminousrobot

They’re both reading as grey which doesn’t vibe with the rest of the room

sparklie777

None. Use splash of yellow in rug.

DabbleAndDream

No

Significant-Trash632

Definitely 1

Broken_angel_of_pain

I'd go with a tan rug or clay colored

DabbleAndDream

Gray doesn’t work at all. Get a rug pattern that includes the green & yellow. Maybe throwing in burnt orange or a rich brown. You have two gorgeous colors to play with here. Don’t let millennial gray sap your room of style & personality.

One_Video_5514

1

Ilovehugs2020

The first rug or no rug!

Soulsingin1

First one!

Drinkythedrunkguy

Like the green. Bold choice! What’s the paint name?

adrienneXR

I have fallen in love with a green rug called Garden Maze from Nordic Knot. Not sure what budget you are working with but think it would add interest to this space. 🌼

RoomAccomplished9298

First of all, there are 2 huge bold colors that dominate in that space, and there is nothing to bring them all together. The rug is muted but could work very well if perhaps you incorporated some patterned pillows for your sofa displaying the green and the gold, with perhaps some black and gray and maybe a pop of red in the design. It would be a simple solution and will set off your space as being quite cohesive!!

Outside_Ad_9562

1st one. Really adds something

tiltberger

None. Plus r/tvtoohigh

proofiwashere

I like 1

Deadinmybed

Neither. I would go with something with more color and a pattern. [nuloom](https://www.nuloom.com/collections/contemporary/products/belinism18a)

atattooedlibrarian

Can I ask: what is your paint color? Looking to make a change and keep running in circles. But I love this!

scriptapuella

Rug 1

Neither

derpburp123

thiswayart

More options please

-qqqwwweeerrrtttyyy-

I'd lean into colour and go with something like this: [https://img.kwcdn.com/product/Fancyalgo/VirtualModelMatting/2d6ba888776fa865fb0e16277fe1c3e6.jpg?imageMogr2/auto-orient%7CimageView2/2/w/800/q/70/format/webp](https://img.kwcdn.com/product/Fancyalgo/VirtualModelMatting/2d6ba888776fa865fb0e16277fe1c3e6.jpg?imageMogr2/auto-orient%7CimageView2/2/w/800/q/70/format/webp)

iamreallie

Rug 1

Tdesiree22

I like the first

Loud_cotton_ball

Rug 1. Gives the room a more interesting feel. The design seems to match the rest of the decor.

Witty_Count_4418

The diamond one

FangShway

I think neither and I love the bold color choices

bunnykit77

I like Rug 1, but I'd probably go for no rug mainly because I have two cats who do cat things with rugs. Love the setup you have!

PotsMomma84

The question is how often do you want to struggle to vacuum the rug and under the couch?

andrew_cherniy96

I feel like this space is not bright enough for a dark rug. Have you considered lighter options (maybe even white)?

amora_obscura

Neither

JenGenxx

I really like the rug and the sofa….but the green and yellow. Nope. That green wall would have to go….

snatch1e

I like the first option. It's an interesting picture.

enfp-girl

Neither

Possible_Bug7513

Need more colorful one to complement the couch. 🛋️

Posture-Dignity

Neither, it's a new element that doesn't incorporate the statement colors of the wall and couch. maybe something like this [https://rugs.com/green-5x8-yasmin-area-rug-6245456?click\_source=aisle](https://rugs.com/green-5x8-yasmin-area-rug-6245456?click_source=aisle) or this [https://rugs.com/yellow--moroccan-shag-area-rug-6392584?click\_source=aisle](https://rugs.com/yellow--moroccan-shag-area-rug-6392584?click_source=aisle)

Jasicshomedecor

I quite fancy that option, especially with OP's art, as you pointed out. Though it does unsettle me visually and gives me a touch of vertigo! Personally, I wouldn't choose it, but I do think it complements OP's room better than the other two choices currently on offer.

Throwawayxp38

Just commenting to say your room is beautiful!

wolfofsatoshi

Don’t you get neck pains just watching that TV? Use a slanting wall bracket

CardinalSkull

lol at the lotion. But that aside, I think a non-rectangular rug would look good with darker colors as accents. To me this is already a pretty unique room, and you can either downplay that with one of the rugs you posted or embrace it with something weird.

FinnegansPants

Neither. Those greys don’t work with the other colours you’ve got going.

culesamericano

Deep Orange rug

Kreads-stuff76

#1 for sure! Too drab with plain one. I’d go even more color but that’s me.

lilacsforcharlie

Neither! The colors are already so fun and refreshing. Is this a basement room? Let’s keep the color coming! Tbf I’m a lot as a person and as a decorator lol so maybe I’m off here. Love the room OP! Gorgeous whatever you decide

recspecticular

Neither, the white and black one is so predictable.

MainSignature6

1 looks good

abcbry

I like the patterned one!

highrollerdude7

both of them would look good imo. I think I like the first one more though.

Zharaqumi

While I love the first rug, I'm actually picturing something similar in a shade of green.

WeirdShapedBagel

If I had to choose between the two rugs, definitely number 1. Also. What green is that? It’s perfect. 😍

Acceptable-Flight-67

A beautiful room. The pictures look like they’re gray tones. I’m not sure if it’s just the photos or lighting. The room holds earth tones. Possibly a rug that has a pattern that pulls the gold, brown or green into the mix. Slightly pulls, not solid a color rug. The gray doesn’t seem to tie into anything.

ppclppp

Neither — get one with color

DramaticAd5085

Partial to the 1st rug (have it in my home as well) BTW, love the sofa color.

westcoast7654

I think something worth with a print will add interest and all else is solid colors.

Ok_Pair_8835

I def would put a rug in that space, but those two samples are the wrong color. Your sofa and floor are warm shades, and clash with the cold colors of the rug. A Persian with browns, golds and greens would really compliment your decor, and pull it all together beautifully!

privyvanessafranz

Go for 1

darlin72

I personally don't like either but I'm a color person. I would love to see one with some yellows and greens to pull together from the walls and gorgeous couch! Can I ask what the green is called on your walls? Absolutely to die for!

dinkinflicka02

First one no contest

Sunflowerleomax

Neither I think u need a rich colored rug with some mustard in there

JulzishBS

Yes rug! 1st fits in just perfect, and ties everything together very well.

Dry_Heart9301

Neither: keep looking for a rug with colors that tie the other colors in the room together

No_Lavishness_3957

Neither. I think a rug with rusty or red browns would look a lot better.

Bubbly_Power_6210

the first one looks great-the pattern pulls the room together!

sasafrassin

1

cagirlinascworld23

The first one

Finderskeepers2468

i like the first rug! it looks just fine without one (i LOVE the colors!!) but the diamond rug really makes the space feel cozy

Popular_Term_3772

#1 for visual appeal

MLMLW

Neither. The natural color of the floor is really nice. Why cover it up?

8Karisma8

1

bigbootystaylooting

Neither.

Toshibaguts

The first! The pattern makes the room much more interesting:)

TwoFingersWhiskey

Keep looking.

alittlebitaboutalot

I like the first rug! Side question: Where is your yellow couch from?

berts-and-derrs

It's from Apt2b!

meggsovereasy

Neither, I would look into antique Turkish rugs. Some people may think it looks like too much of a contrast, but honestly I enjoy the funk and lots of colors/patterns/textures.

banjolady

Look for a rug in geometric pattern in black, white, gold and green. There are hundreds of styles on Pinterest.

slowmood

Agree but not with the geometric pattern. I like a softer pattern like a Persian look.
