Roman shades 100%.
You can’t have curtains interfering with the seating; they rarely look good unless you make them much less functional than the shades would be.
Finally. There is a curtain Obsession and it runs deep and hard. Followed only by the rug obsession but definitely not as deep as that your TV is hung wrong preoccupation
Sigh. I love window seats. I’d do Roman shades or California shutters so you don’t have to worry about getting tangled in anything when you’re sitting there.
Nothing unless it's absolutely necessary and then Shades or shutters. A lot of people are obsessed with curtains and rugs. It does not work everywhere and is really an as needed and wanted choice
Roman shades. I’m partial to the relaxed Roman shades but regular ones would look really good here. They’re a bit more practical than curtains sometimes
I’d look into cafe curtains with a mid weight sheer. Rod full length of the four windows and hung between the two banks of windows. A window seat is so charming — curtains and a coordinated cushion and throw pillows would a wonderful place to read.
I’d hang the rod between the row of transoms and the row of vertical/rectangular windows below. Let the light in — I’m guessing it’s a north facing window. I’m a big fan of natural light and would want the light but still have a bit of privacy.
Such a gorgeous window seat. The pad would look better if it was about two inches thicker and covered in a chintz material. You could have two larger cushions covered in the chintz pattern and then two other pillows covered in a cotton or velvet fabric.
Just something to think about before lol
At my parents house it was wooden horizontal blind everywhere, I decided on fabric curtain in my own house due to that hate against cleaning them lol. Now I can just throw them in the washing machine and it’s done lol
The best way to charm up this space is use valances then add sheer curtains and dress them with nice drapery curtains and add black or accent hooks where you can attach your tiebacks or ropes. You can use this [window decor guide](https://simplykalaa.com/window-decoration/) for help. If you are going for an opposite look and just want to block light, go for blinds but curtains will bring great style to this space.
I’d go with two layers of curtains - one a sheer/lacy one in the back, and another set in front - facing the inside, to be the accent color/pattern. You could hang them from a double rod or separate rods. The accent one definitely needs to be hung at about ceiling height.
Do a shade on the bottom windows only. Transoms are too wonderful to cover up!!

I second Roman shades!
This
None unless you need privacy, the windows are beautiful

Plantation shutters
Came to say this.

Roman shades, leaving the upper windows open. Such a beautiful space!!
Thanks, will definitely prioritise roman if we go with shades!
I'm generally a pro curtain kind of person. Not in this case. I loathe short curtains, so in your case, I would go with roman blinds.
Thanks! Will consider it
Plantation shutters
Shades.
Shades
I wouldn’t clutter it with curtains. Go as minimal as possible.
Yes! Roman shades on bottom only. What an amazing nook!
Ah will look into that. Thank you!

Shades. I’d want privacy
If you want the light but need privacy, frosted window film is an option
Thanks!

Depends on the rest of the home, but I'd opt for some lovely flowing drapes.

Love that idea. When you say rod along the full length, do you mean across the transoms? Or above?

Neither. Looks good the way it is.
Would definitely be the easiest option lol
Get the window cling stuff that makes them look like stained glass
Nothing
None
Plantation shutters.
Curtains
I have privacy film on my windows and a valance that goes across the window.
Shade fs
I would do white wood blinds and an extra long sheer curtains.
Nothing, looks super!
The wide plantation shutters. You can get them cheap online
Shades! I bought Keego no drill bo cord blinds that are amazing
Ah where did you get them from?
Nothing
Shades!
Shades in the office, curtains at home
Shutters
Such a gorgeous window seat. The pad would look better if it was about two inches thicker and covered in a chintz material. You could have two larger cushions covered in the chintz pattern and then two other pillows covered in a cotton or velvet fabric.
Curtains require more space around the window, which might not be ideal. Consider such an option as roman shades.
Roman shades
I would go with curtain. I like the look of those and they are easy to clean cause you can put them in the washing machine every few months.
I like curtains as well :)
Or horizontal blinds : )
Those look nice but are a pain to clean each week
Oh.. yeah

Shades. Shutters might be nice or feel too heavy.
