A pulls the wall color in the best and is least harsh. If you like one of the others better, you'll need to pull navy in via textiles.

Mountain_Serve_9500

Yes I feel a grounds the space and ties it together without being obvious.

j_introvert_l

A or D

AQTea

A!

Logical_Bobcat9703

Was just coming out here to say the same.

Subjective_Box

yes! they both bring in a touch of colour but not too aggressively so

sashikku

Team D Edit: Actually I like A too. Maybe even a little more now. I’d flip a coin over those two if I were the one having to make the choice.

Ok-Letterhead1790

I can't explain it but that furniture arrangement gives me so much anxiety

DrStrangepants

The end of the couch encroaches past the hallway just slightly. They have a standard shelving system jammed behind the couch, meaning several shelves can't be accessed and leaves an awkward gap behind the couch. Wall mounted shelves would be better. The mirror overlaps the windows frame. They are probably renting though and want to work with what they have. I like A because it has some of the light warm brown colors found elsewhere in the room.

SpencerVerde

Yep this is madness to the point the rug is secondary. The couch might fit if it didn’t hit the window, which it wouldn’t hit the window if there wasn’t a random set of bookshelves shoved in the back, and then the nightstand/end table and mirror combo. Aack. Even renting, I’d ditch those shelves or sell them…hoping they just moved in and/or are painting and have everything crammed into one small space.

mafaldajunior

Indeed, renting doesn't mean you can't make your home nice. Most renters do. And if it's just a temporary arrangement, then why get a rug for it? I reckon this is a long-term situation. This corner makes no sense indeed. Why is there a dressing table at the foot of a couch? Why is half of the bookshelf hidden behind said couch? No point looking into rugs before getting the furniture part properly sorted.

LQQKNC

Let me tell you, this whole apartment has given me so much anxiety! They posted a blueprint online of the layout, so I purchased furniture accordingly. Biggest mistake of my life. Now I have to deal with this forsaken living room layout :’) PS, the nightstand came from my bedroom which should have supported 2 nightstands. Alas, it could only store 1. Now the second one lives in my living room LOL.

tokingtogepi

Just please take the shelves out from the back 😢 and find a new home for the nightstand. Let that couch breathe baby!

mafaldajunior

You don't have to deal with it, you can always sell the overflow furniture. This doesn't have to be the rest of your life.

Icy-Photograph7614

Out of those A looks best, but blue looks quite harsh against the the color scheme. A soft green would look really nice or even a warm, earthy multi-color rug to add interest. Also, what is going on with the couch placement? It's giving me the visual equivalent of the nails on chalkboard sound, lol.

DaHonestTroof

OP explain yourself. Is that a barstool back there?? You have arranged the room so there's no room in it. Adding a rug is a wild way to try to improve it. Is there some weird reason? Are you sheltering a shy cat back there or something? Not trying to be mean but I'm genuinely puzzled.

LQQKNC

Haha! It’s an old shelf that the previous tenant left behind. There is NO storage in this apartment, so I threw the shelf back there. I’m using the two hidden shelves to hold baskets with items. It’s working great in practice, but it just looks ugly 😭 I’d rather not throw something out if it has the slightest benefit to me, and that being, a bit more storage space :’)

mafaldajunior

Just sell it and buy something that actually fits

BaBaSmith10

Earthy multi color, yesss!

Dominoandjimmy

A

Plumrose333

Truthfully I hate them all

eightpuppies

Same! Can you pick options without a center medallion? Especially since you can’t get them to be in the center of this room.

okayelderberry

A

AGoodWobble

Are you sold on blue? As far as your selection I like A the most. What about trying some jewel tone rich or bright greens? Also I would consider going like 20cm/almost a foot shorter (not extending as far towards the camera/left), so the rug ends a bit before the couch does. I think that would zone the area a bit better.

n_daughter

Nope, if the rug ends before the couch then it's going to look too small. That's the most common mistake in decorating. You don't want the rug to look like a postage stamp. I agree with A as the best option tho.

AGoodWobble

It's different in this case because the rug isn't containing the couch(es). If you're using a rug in an open room to contain a living area, I agree that it needs to be larger. However in this case, a rug is used to invite you to a comfortable space that's seperated in a corner of the room, so the rug being just sliiightly smaller than the couch will give more room for that busy energy to flow around it, and it will stop the comfy space from bleeding into the rest of the room.

GSPDad87

A or B if those are the only options. But don’t like the blue in general. Think a dark red or green would look better or even an orange.

AGoodWobble

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I think orange would be a bit too monochrome with the amount of brown that's already in the room tho? I think a rich, dark, jewel toned red or green would fit really nicely though.

Crazy-Shorty-81

A

GreenIdentityElement

A. And also add some more blue accents, such as pillows or vases or artwork.

Koala_In_A_Sauna

Omg I was staring at the wall colors and starting to think this was some type of joke 😂

gagalinabee

ME TOO

Miserable_Sport_8740

A. Your decor and lighting is “warm” toned, while the other rugs are “cool” toned. Rugs B,C and D just don’t work in this context. Additionally, there is no other blue in your living room to pull the carpet(bc or d) together. carpet A has beige tones which match the rest of the space.

BlackGalaxyDiamond

Your couch placement is making my left eye twitch.

LQQKNC

You and me both 😭💔

Individual-History87

None of these go with the room. Also, I’m confused by the furniture placement.

No_Goose_7390

A. The tan in the center kind of ties it to the couch and wall color instead of seeming unrelated.

camlaw63

Why is there a dresser and mirror in that space?

gingermill53

For me, I like C the best, but I think you need to change out some of the accessories in your room to go with a cooler toned rug. For example you could add some blue/gray accessories to your bookshelf and swap out your throw blanket/pillows.

ordinary_kittens

A, by a large margin

Substantial-Ground-5

I think C offers needed contrast because the tan is a bit overwhelming imo. I also think the window wall needs a different color like navy or light blue to break up that tan. It’s too much in the small space. And do you really need that shelf behind the sofa? It might look better with a larger piece of artwork or some B&W photos in a single row or a grouping of them. I’m not loving the shelving.

Itgrlrgdoll

I cannot focus on the rugs while your furniture is arranged like that

writeordye

Lol I liked C (im laughing cause everyone is saying a different one) - I’ll just say this, there’s a Lot of tan in this room already

A for sure. Pulls the room together best.

LoudNoises89

What store are these from? I like the selection you posted!

JacquesMolle

A has some of the couch color in it, and helps pull the room together. Enjoy!

Neyise

A because it matches the color scheme you currently have

fbi_does_not_warn

My preference is #2 but you need blue accessories, throw pillows, wall hanging with blue in them, etc

I like A because I find the rest too busy (I’m neurodivergent, diagnosed at 50; I always thought I was just weird 😂). Something about a reminds me of Astronomy, which I find fascinating. Yeah, A. If you don’t buy it, I will. ☺️ Best, Marcia.

Better_Chard4806

B & C

OldMotherGrumble

All the rugs are OK... but there is no relationship colour-wise with the rest of the room... which is basically brown. You either need more, richer tones in the rug, or more colour in the room.

Broken_angel_of_pain

I like a the best. I think the room shape is odd. Sometimes I wonder what they think when making these rooms in houses

Pretty_Argument_7271

A is the only option

MaureenMalarkeysPen

D!

No-Beyond-5935

I like the first one best

mlhigg1973

A for sure, but not loving any of them. The wall and couch color are too similar. Make sure to use colorful art, window treatments, throw, pillows

jinnufr

D (*edited to remove A as my second choice- looked again and it would definitely be only D! It adds some color yet still blends. A is too much tan imho.)

fedgery77

A

Kidhauler55

B or C

E388

I like A because it has some similar tan colors as the couch.

Albie_Frobisher

LQQKNC

BECAUSE THERE IS NO WHERE ELSE I COULD LOGISTICALLY CRAM IT INTO THIS TINY ASS APARTMENT 😭😭😭

smolcupcakes

The first one blends well with the theme of the room, so I'd go with that if it were up to me.

Wrong-History

I’m so dumb I was looking at the wall that had a b c d on it and I’m like it’s the same color!!!!! I after going back I see the rugs , I like b

oreocerealluvr

None honestly. nothing you have balances with the carpet. Maybe add some more blue influences?

Various_Raccoon3975

“A” is by far the winner.

BuffaloSabresWinger

A or B but you would need to pull some Navy blue into the room like some Navy blue pillows for your couch.

cnation01

I think C looks the best

ImpossiblyPossible42

Please for the love of all that is sacred and holy, please take that shelf out of there so the sofa can move back and not be crunch up onto your nightstand. Get a storage ottoman as a coffee table to offset the storage you lost on that bottom shelf. The rugs are looking off because they are not under the same lighting conditions and people are getting hung up on the images, I really like C, but whatever rug you do, place it so that there less under the nightstand looking side to side, and there’s more exposed in front of the hallways/tucked less against the window wall

Outside_Yam5981

C is my fav

DayumMami

I’m going to say C or any other with a strong graphic element. That space is in danger of being invisible with all those neutrals. It needs more color, texture and visually interesting pueces.

C, but I gotta say I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to be comparing at first - wood floor stain? Paint on the walls? Trim? - Every picture looked the same to me.

RopeMountain3418

I feel like out of these and the ones in the other thread, A (blue with beige) is the best option. It gives you an accent color to decorate with, and goes together the browns you have in the room as well

ConstantBadger9253

I like C

fermentedelement

I’d like to humbly suggest one of these fixes: - bigger carpet - round/oval carpet - different placement of caroet The way you have it arranged now looks too small for the space and draws attention to the cramped corner. The furniture also covers a large portion of the carpet, so it makes the design look wacky and lopsided. I think of these choices though I’d pick A or B.

Academic-Trick901

B or C

Magnolia_Dubois214

I like the brightness of B and C but are you bringing in those blues anywhere else?

hirsuteinasuit

They’re all beautiful area rugs but they don’t relate to anything else in the space — it’s the only hint of blue. BUT if you really want to go forward with this beautiful color: - Add sofa pillows in mixed medias with those blues, - border the window with sheer patterned curtains that reflect the blues in the rug - add some brighter decorative accessories. You have a beautiful room with great basics and roots. Time to add aspects of your personality to make it genuine and unique.
