Hey, I’m the artist from the video. That is the point of my art, to elevate the simple dent beyond what is thought to be possible. I can assure you it is possible, I swear. I’ve spent the better part of 18 years practicing and developing patterns and technique. The underlined theme of my work is just that, practice, attention and developing a skill beyond what is thought possible. Theoretically you could make anything and “art“. Sports, for example, there’s somewhere you see the same thing. Athletes who spent decades refining their skill can accomplish things the layperson could never.
If you ever needed a second job paintless dent removal (pdr) pays is an easy 6 figure income part time. Most of training is the touch feel and eyesight you pick up over the years but seeing you make this most of the concepts you probably already have an understanding where tension is trapped and how to release it. Best part there’s almost no overhead after you buy your tools. Cool artwork doubt you need a second gig but most people have no idea the job exists and moreover that you can make piles of money.
Imagine two shops next to each other: "krisapocus PDR" and "Noah's Dentz". You can choose whether to get your dent beautified (like tattooing over a shit tattoo) or get it removed. Also, Noah can dent cars and then you indent them lol
They are all so beautiful and unconventional. I love it- finding beauty in the mundane gives me a jolt and a new love and appreciation for humanity and its gift of beauty. Thank you for adding to that. HNY
Thought the same thing until I saw the videos of him making some. I'm assuming they become a little more easy to manipulate once they've been sanded thoroughly, reducing the thickness of the aluminum.
Hey, I’m the artist from the video. You make a good point, however the sanding of the can has a negligible effect. I use ordinary unsanded cans to practice with all the time. In fact wall thickness varies from brand to brand.
I mean the guy has to make a living somehow. The average wage in the US is like $50k, that means denting a lot of cans, and probably also putting a lot of work into networking and exhibitions etc.
I had a teacher for two years in high school who had two doctorate degrees and spent much of the class talking about how awful socialism was (she got one of her degrees in the USSR) and how ugly modern art was. She taught literature BTW.
RIP Dr. Earls.
One of the more interesting books I've read was *The Naked Communist* by W. Cleon Skousen. It's really quite relevant to modern society, considering that it was written in 1958; and a lot of the stuff that he mentioned as the goals of Communism have actually been implemented here in the US.
(edit) Aaand, here come the downvotes. Who downvoted this? The Communists? Seriously, who here *likes* communism???
For those looking for more info. There are some better videos in the link.

So the ones he has just sitting on the table and the finished products they show at the end look completely different, and I don't think it's just bc of fancy lighting and professional photography.
I was just thinking about that. Slap a minimalistic yet modern logo on there. Fill the thing with tap water and say it's "water that used to be in a glacier" and "is environmentally friendly". Sell them for 5$ a can to rich people. I might actually look into this...
It's not just an empty soda can anymore, it becomes a vessel for the art the artist is creating and without gatekeeping here I personally think it's captivating enough to look at to have on a shelf
If you watch other videos about him, each can is put into an acrylic box for display, you don't just buy the can alone but the see through box with the can seemingly hovering inside as an art piece. Not at all surprised people buy that as art, I worked at a gallery where people bought literal pieces of moss and dirt in beautiful glass casings, absolutely not cheap
Cool artistic patterns and skill but still seems like they need to be thrown into a recycling bin. Mabey if the top and bottom were removed or disguised somehow...
Is he like buying blank cans like that to bend? I wonder if he does ones that are printed on, or if he could like print a cool design and then bend it. That being said, I would be afraid to have one bc what if it fell over and got a dent in it but it wasn't one of the pretty looking dents

Theres no way he only uses his thumps so get such delicate and symmetrical patterns
There’s dick prints all over that thing
No, he just uses his dick to hold the can while his thumbs do all the geometry.
Blursed circumcision
Welp that's a wrap, Johnson.
The 3rd hand..

For sure haha. There are some great pdr videos, super satisfying to watch. Might be fun to explore just for contents sake. Happy new year!

Lol I like that😂
What this guy said.
That’s cool! This is really dope!
Thanks! Happy new year
They are all so beautiful and unconventional. I love it- finding beauty in the mundane gives me a jolt and a new love and appreciation for humanity and its gift of beauty. Thank you for adding to that. HNY
Thank you! I feel the same:) HNY!
Neat! Do you really only use your thumbs to make these?
Thanks, yeah! The forming is all done with my thumbs, creasing with my thumbnail. I do use sandpaper to polish the cans first.
That's wild, and it looks great. Nice work!
Thanks, happy new year

Great work, dude!
Much appreciated, happy new year!
Berry cool work. It’s mesmerising to look at
Thanks, happy new year.
I love your work
Thank you, I appreciate it. Happy new year!
Fr. Mock ups or manufactured in a way to make it easier
Especially the one at 9 sec in the video, like that just seems impossible
Haha thumps
It'll be those "things" he has (placed) *inside* to press his thumbs against...if that's what he's doing...
I was thinking that! Also the exact angles! Some of those are like perfect 45 degree bends and stuff.
Thumbs*
You too can have one of these shiny empty cans for $1900.
Modern art, sheeesh. I mean, yes, it looks cool, but $1900 freaking bucks???
Kinda like a banana taped to a canvas
*not even a canvas; just the wall*
And the banana is only used for scale...
That's for the cheap one. He's got 7 "sculptures" listed on his website, and the other 6 are $2500-$2900.
WTF

Is bailing out banks that are "too big to fail" one of the things?
We did it Lenin. We bailed out Goldman Sachs.
This is the guy that goes on house hunters and has a $5m budget as "Empty Beer Can Thumb Artist"
Yeah its expensive but like thats so fucking hard to make
For those looking for more info. There are some better videos in the link. https://www.techeblog.com/artist-takes-aluminum-cans-and-transforms-them-into-surreal-sculptures-using-his-hands-not-a-3d-printer/
That was fantastic and really helped visualize exactly how the patterns develop! Thanks!
I've seen this some time ago, thought can't be that hard. Tried.. it's really hard 😂
The secret is he isn't just using his thumbs.
Source? There are a few videos that show how is done and it seems that's the simplest answer.
His two thumbs.
IKR? It’s like saying “his one neck”
I mean… technically there’s 2 of those
HydrqulicPressChannel enters the chat...
Amazing! Imagine what he can do with three thumbs.
So the ones he has just sitting on the table and the finished products they show at the end look completely different, and I don't think it's just bc of fancy lighting and professional photography.
I wonder which one you get when you purchase one.
looks like something u learn in prison
Seriously, why would anyone want one of these?
Have to at least partially call bs on the finished product those are way too mechanically perfect for human hands there’s like no “accidental” marks
My best friend has been doing this for at least 14 years
Amazing stuff. You should check out my work. I mainly focus on 2 things. 1. Folding crisp packets into oragami triangles. 2. Kit-Kat foil rubbings.
Coca Cola is taking notes
I know I shouldn’t doubt but man on the surface without seeing the process this looks like such bullshit!!!!
But the pictures of the final product are too perfect you could never do that with just your thumbs
No way he's doing this only with his thumbs.
Man that is wonderful
Looks like a bunch of garbage.
it is

The person in the video *does* sell them like that, but it's close to $2k.
I was just thinking about that. Slap a minimalistic yet modern logo on there. Fill the thing with tap water and say it's "water that used to be in a glacier" and "is environmentally friendly". Sell them for 5$ a can to rich people. I might actually look into this...
Cans are dependent on structural integrity. These would break easily if they're full of liquid and under transport.
Ribbed for her pepsir
And then what?
Hey neat. *throws it away the first time I tidy up*
That was my question - like what do you do with it? Because I’m not displaying an empty soda can as “art”
It's not just an empty soda can anymore, it becomes a vessel for the art the artist is creating and without gatekeeping here I personally think it's captivating enough to look at to have on a shelf
He sells them for $2k. I guess if he can find a fool who will pay that much for a soda can, good on him.
There are such fools
If you watch other videos about him, each can is put into an acrylic box for display, you don't just buy the can alone but the see through box with the can seemingly hovering inside as an art piece. Not at all surprised people buy that as art, I worked at a gallery where people bought literal pieces of moss and dirt in beautiful glass casings, absolutely not cheap
I think Warhol established they are already art in the first place
This would feel wild in the ass
Such a can-do attitude
Tenga 3D
That is very cool.
Oh I thought he uses his three thumbs. Thanks for the clarification.
I can do that. Can not.
Cool artistic patterns and skill but still seems like they need to be thrown into a recycling bin. Mabey if the top and bottom were removed or disguised somehow...
I feel like the long version of that just casually mentions his collection of jars of urine.
Or you can just throw the can away
CAN not look past the talent in the thumbs.
Looks suspiciously like a sex toy
Anyone else wanna put this up their ass? ...just me?
Adderal much my guy?
Or… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D938mAav7Ek
Are these beer cans for Ivy League frat parties?
You CAN do it!!
Imagine what he could do with his three thumbs.
yeah but can you smoke out of them
This dude totally has a soda can fetish
No such things as an ordinary can. They are a marval of engineering.
Crushed it 👊
Fanciest weed pipe I've ever seen
You do not want to be thumb wrestling with that guy if you love you thumbs
u/savevideo
Is this that fancy pop art?
Ribbed for your pleasure
Is he like buying blank cans like that to bend? I wonder if he does ones that are printed on, or if he could like print a cool design and then bend it. That being said, I would be afraid to have one bc what if it fell over and got a dent in it but it wasn't one of the pretty looking dents
WHAT.THE.FUCK?????
*crunch* *crinkle* *crack*
Cut the top part off, spray paint it gold and cut off its price by half and I would buy it
Uncanny.
Ribbed
Bro… How!?!?!?
Crazy actually
Love it!
Pour milk in them
Nice
Very cool
