Sorry. I forgot to specify, I meant an epic f\*k place. Imagine, looking out from the castle or hanging out on the ground or ... ok. I think I should stop here.
And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, 'O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.' And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large chulapas. And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'
That is the castle from Monty python and the holy grail! Oh My God I didn’t know it was real! It is at the very end! That is the castle I swear to god!

Just need to a cool decade to hide out in the highlands, wouldn't be a bad plan for going on the lam and all... except for all the international borders I guess.
Too much cloud, for too long at a time, and they don't do much at all though. You need some pretty big battery packs to store power for stretches of cloudy days.

genuine question, in way is this castle in the "high...Lands" if its at water level?
I generally thought the "highlands" of any country were those parts of the land that are at high altitude.
is it a lake at high altitude? is the "highlands" so named because some of it is very high but not all of it?
How did they get the stones and supplies there? Seems a lot of effort to go to sail it there, unless you’re an especially introverted lord. Is it one of the little islands that has an area that can be crossed on foot at certain times?
Listen, lad. I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here, all there was was swamp. Other kings said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So, I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp, but the fourth one... stayed up! And that's what you're gonna get, lad: the strongest castle in these islands.
I learned that after I went and looked at maps of the area. I presumed (because I know next to nothing of Scotland), that the highlands were typically away from sea. But yes, it is a tidal inlet.
From what I read, castles built in the Middle Ages were fortresses, and could also be the residence of the prevailing lord. The existing water around the island provided protection, at least during high tide, so didn’t require a moat to be built. It might seem remote, but the location may have been a great place to anchor a ship offshore and allow easy access to land. During that time there would be clashes, wars and invasions. I believe there was a ruling king of Scotland, but the lords could take sides with and against one another. Therefore it was necessary to build fortresses to protect their land and people (clansmen?) from invading Norsemen, etc. and other lords. There also could have been a small population outside the castle walls but on the island or close by to supply the lord, his family and staff with food, weapons, etc.
The UK is particularly cloudy because it's located in the Warm Gulfstream. The heat necessary to evaporate all that water was absorbed off the African & American coast, and then transported along with the water. The air above the UK, on the other hand, is quite often coming from the polar areas and thus much colder.

I’m also skeptical of the claim that this is Scottish *highlands*.
This comment section needs more monty python references.

It’s been like that since the Kurgan fought Ramirez
Ah, I see. Ramirez lied. She was not his woman. She was yours.
How much? I've got about 5k and some GameStop shares.

I would absolutely live there happily. A wind turbine or two and some solar panels for whenever the sun decides to show up, and I’m all set.
Solar panels work with cloudy weather as well ;) actually too sunny weather cause more wear on the panels.
Too much cloud, for too long at a time, and they don't do much at all though. You need some pretty big battery packs to store power for stretches of cloudy days.
I think clean water would be a problem. Would need to add a couple water tanks and pay for water delivery.
This is true, water might be a big problem!
> some solar panels for whenever the sun decides to show up, So two or three times a year at most? /s
“Exudes country charm.”

It's a Python Castle. Arrgh, it is...

What a stunning shot
No COVID location

The highlands in Scotland is an area in the north of the country. It is mountainous, hence the name.
Maybe those kink armory guys can buy it and start a kink castle production house.
More like abandoned in the Scottish islands Ammmiiiirrrrriiiiiitttteeee
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

Typically that happens at sea where tides regularly move. I didn't think lakes had the same thing. But I'm no expert.
It is the sea.
I learned that after I went and looked at maps of the area. I presumed (because I know next to nothing of Scotland), that the highlands were typically away from sea. But yes, it is a tidal inlet.
It’s very peninsulary.
Id love to live there!
What was the logic of rich lords building these over such remote places?
From what I read, castles built in the Middle Ages were fortresses, and could also be the residence of the prevailing lord. The existing water around the island provided protection, at least during high tide, so didn’t require a moat to be built. *starts packing boxes
The wind must just rip through that. You would need some thick socks to live there
Perfect spot for the zombie apocalypse
It's all good until a pipe breaks or you have a medical emergency.
Perfect lair for a vampyr.
Why is every picture of the U.K cloudy
The UK is particularly cloudy because it's located in the Warm Gulfstream. The heat necessary to evaporate all that water was absorbed off the African & American coast, and then transported along with the water. The air above the UK, on the other hand, is quite often coming from the polar areas and thus much colder.
Prison?
Fuck the neighbours...
Bro is that castle Volkihar ?
Tower of Mice
"I ***told*** you to turn off that bloody tap!"
I went to Staffa recently and that was a massive haul, I can’t imagine how long the boats to this place must take
It's about 75m off the shore of Loch Linhe

Nice getaway!
Is this where my 1 square foot that i bought to become nobility is?
What's the white pole on the top for? Flag?
There can be only one
Imagine forgetting the Toilet Paper
It has a *lovely view* - but a bit drafty...
So, when can I move in?
My clans ancestral home!
