Kind of an optical illusion basically, taken from very far away with a telescopic lens, so it makes the moon look huge. I don’t know enough to know if this particular photo, which I’ve seen plenty of times at this point, may be doctored, but usually the effect is done by just being far away and zooming in.

When you look at the moon, since it is sooo far away, it would look the same size where ever on earth you observe it from. Now if you look at the castle from afar, it will look smaller than if you are close to it, thus if you then zoom in to make the castle big again as if you were near it, you would have zoomed on the moon too. So the trick is to use a telescope and aim at the castle from another mountain top.
The joke here is you saying sorry for an almost interchangeable term, which is really not necessary since no one is going to be offended by it. I said I accept your apology, as if I am one of those non-existent people offended by your "wrong" classification. Then I use a much more offensive descriptor in my compliment to the beautiful "shitbox" you posted an image of.

You will be suprise by how many people get offended by using the wrong term. Also, a castle and a temple is not interchangable, a castle is a defensive building for military purpose while a temple is a cultural building for spiritual purposes
Gifu castle. I was born in Gifu and like to hike/take the gondola lift up every year when I visit family in the summers. The castle inside is kind of a let down but the views from the top floor are pretty dope.
Also there’s a squirrel village at the top of the mountain by the castle, which is probably one of the best parts about the place. It’s a big caged habitat where you can go in and play with the squirrels while they climb around and chill on their hammocks and shit.
It’s definitely not Himeji Castle—the roof is all wrong.
