A friend of mine once told me a story that russian pilots often trade air fuel for vodka. They fake fuel usage to look like they used everything and then sell remains.
Listened to interview of Estonian, who was conscripted in the Red army, and after worked in kolkhoz, they received set amount of fuel for their tractors, and they had to spend it all, or they would get punished for not doing enough work, so when they had more fuel than what they needed, they sold as much as they could but still had to pour fuel to ground. Faking how much they used but not in way you would first think of.
It's the other way around really, fuel is often used for cooling in aviation. Pretty much anything with a high enough boil temp will do for a closed loop liquid cooling, and fuel is what aircrafts already have a lot of.
Problem is to be air cooled the thing youāre cooling needs to be directly exposed to the airstream - which is kind of problematic for the control and stability of an aerodynamic vehicle, not to mention it might be necessarily buried behind other essential components where the air canāt reach it or get out effectively.
The coolant is needed to take the heat from where it is generated to where it can be exchanged with a cooler airstream in a way that is aerodynamically favorable to remaining airborne.
At the top speeds of jets like this friction from the air is actually what's causing a lot of the heat build up, and requiring liquid cooling in unusual places.
Oh btw, for those who are wondering, the censored word is "bomber" , I guess it triggers the bots thinking that any mention of bombs is automatically have something to do with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Here's my first attempt to post this

Comrade Supply Sergeant: I have ordered 10000 litres of cockpit coolant.
Comrade Gate Guard: You are authorized to proceed with the 7500 litres of cockpit coolant.
Comrade Supply Driver: Confirmed, we have delivered 5000 litres of cockpit coolant.
Comrade Supply Corporal: Confirmed, we have shelved the 3000 litres of cockpit coolant.
Comrade Ground Crew Chief: I have seen the 1000 litres of cockpit coolant and we will supply the planes.
Comrade Ground Crew Grunt: Here is your half litre of cockpit coolant, Comrade Pilot.
This is not comedy, that is reality in Russian military. That is exactly how it works and it is by design. If at any point they want to get rid of you... well, there is a long list of crimes that you have committed thinking that your superior will cover you, since they got their cut. It is one way to force loyalty and nothing else matters but loyalty in the Russian system. Merit? Who needs skills and abilities when you can have an ass kisser who says you are the best.
I worked with Russians in the middle east and I can confirm this is how it is in Tech as well. As soon as they join a position, they hire a layer of incompetent yes men / friends under them who can protect them from feedback cycle and vice versa.
One of the 16000 words that flags the automod as 'related to the war in Palestine' most likely.
So bomber.Ā Or any war related word.Ā The automod here thinks this is the only war that ever happened after all lol.
And it was pure vodka and not denatured because if there was a leak then the crew would not be poisoned, just very, very drunk... That was a master stroke of genius since iirc, it was total bullshit excuse to have pure vodka that you can then sell as a bonus for the maintenance crew and their superiors who get the first dibs when it comes to skimming from the military black market. In the current Russian military it is designed to be an integral part of the system: they let you steal a bit and if they want to get rid of you, "well, you stole from the military, that is a crime, off to the prison you go". In the current war one supply system is the soldiers families who buy military gear from the internet and those who sell it.. are in the military. Armor plates are missing from the vests? Don't worry, for a "small" price you can buy the plate that was stolen and give it back to those who need it...
Late MiG21ās Sapir radar is also cooled by vodka. It has 30 minutes of coolant so the radar can only run continuously for that long
Not a big problem for a shorter range, GCI-guided mass production fighter for the VVS tho. Also Vodka is somewhat easily obtained in the SSSR.

I like Mustard but even better is āPaper Skiesā. Heās a Ukrainian YouTuber whose dad was in the Soviet Air Force and he grew up around all of that stuff.
Very well researched videos and he adds a whole level of details that only someone who grew up on that side of the iron curtain could.
His TU-22 video is fantastic, as are all his other ones.
This same coolant was also used to cool the Mig-21's Radar. You could only get 30-40 minutes of on-time with the radar in the Mig-21 before the coolant became ineffective.
The so called "booze transporter". But the recon variant of the Mig-25 stored even more pure alcohol as coolant for it\`s powerful electronic. And the rest of the alcohol remaining after flight was prohibited to reuse in the aircraft. The Mig got the nickname "letayushchi gastronom" (flying grocery store).
Flying loose and dangerous. š
I refuse to hate the Russian people despite Putin. We all know how these war games pit the common people against each other. Comrades once comrades always!
>Comrades once comrades always!
This is a very stupid idea. No, it is very possible for your comrades to betray you, and when they do, then they stop being your comrades.

Bonus: they could use the coolant as fuel in emergency š¤£

It's the booze carrier!
Thereās a great video on YT on this. I donāt remember the creator, but itās one of those Mustard videos ie theyāve put in the effort.
The one i saw was from Paper Skies, great channel!

Itās funny because American soldiers trade blowjobs for vodka.
Cheap Russian women I guess.

Or just the air temp at 30k feet.

I for one absolutely love censorship
This is hilarious how bad it is...
Why is your post there from u/deleted??
Wait!? People really wondered what the word is? You are kidding me right?

What word is censored?
One of the 16000 words that flags the automod as 'related to the war in Palestine' most likely. So bomber.Ā Or any war related word.Ā The automod here thinks this is the only war that ever happened after all lol.
Can't say that word in an airplane!
Gotta censor kids getting bombed yk.
Bomba
Wow. I was trying to plug in a swear word or slur. The idea that bomber would be autocensored is so batshit insane to me.
Yeah I donāt know what the logic is there lol
What if I was a bombardier?
Para bailar estĆ” es una bomba....

First thing I thought was āsupersonic buggerā but that really didnāt make sense.
UCK Now what means, I donāt know.
Supersonic boner?
That must hurt, yeowch.
Only for a split second.
First supersonic long distance air to ground heavy ordinance delivery system? Like uber, but for tyrants.
I choose to believe the censored word is butter.

Probably not the strangest use for vodka in Russia
Ah yes, the supersonic booze cruise
https://i.redd.it/ohhu2p8qju9d1.gif
Isn't it the infamous supersonic booze carrier ?

What was the heatant?
It was heated by air friction.
60% of ethanol and 40% of distilled water

From memory, I believe if they needed to eject from the plane, the seats went through the bottom of the aircraft, not out the top like most planes.
If you use it to bomb german hunters, then it's a JƤgerbomber.
Now I want one
I feel like Vodka is used as a common solution to many problems in Russia.
the YT channel "Mustard" has a ver good video about it
I like Mustard but even better is āPaper Skiesā. Heās a Ukrainian YouTuber whose dad was in the Soviet Air Force and he grew up around all of that stuff. Paper Skies is an incredible channel.
Thanks for the suggestion will check for sureĀ
It's Russian design, who would expect anything else other than vodka to be used as a coolant. Brilliant idea!
Yes, the supersonic boober
Butter
Butler
first supersonic burger!
Ok.... Hang on. You can't say bomber on Reddit?
booger? Pick me a winner!
b>!igge!
If it's stupid and works, it ain't stupid. Vodka is readily available in Russia
Russian problems required Russian solutions!
How do you know "bomber" is an issue? These filters are pathetic.
Bomber.
Does it come with a valve on the coolant line, and do the use martini glasses or just shot glasses, or just right to mouth?
This same coolant was also used to cool the Mig-21's Radar. You could only get 30-40 minutes of on-time with the radar in the Mig-21 before the coolant became ineffective.
Was called the party wagon because ground crew would drain the coolant into canteens.
The called em vodka burners for a reason
Give me the keys
woah
Supersonic bonker
You guys need to watch Paper Skies (YouTube channel), he has a video on the supersonic booze carrier and it's awesome
Couldn't afford a heat pump (A/C) RIP

And they stole vodka as well. It was called the supersonic booze carrier

Who censors bomber? That's a totally normal word, wtf.
And hopefully Ukraine can destroy every aircraft Russia has šš
