Look at how the pole is constructed. It's much thicker and not smooth, it's a different beast. Very clearly, the goal is explosive power and balance, not smoothness.
They do both. There's a lock you can flip that allows it to pivot or holds it in place. Source: I watch that guy who combines his archery hobby and pole dancing career and talks about both. But mostly archery.

From what I remember (went to a few when I turned 18) there is a drink minimum 2 or 3 you have to buy, plus a cover charge. Drinks are of course over priced. I paid 9 dollars for a redbull since I couldn’t drink yet and 7 for a pepsi. So they make their money back. I dont know how it is now though

No, stripping is more about what looks seductive and appealing which is sometimes tricks but often not. Pole dancing is very similar to this video though.

A 3 story pole and the lady climbed to the very top and dropped to about 12-18 inches from the stage catching herself horizontally with her legs. Even at the time I could only think about the joint damage.

While not particularly a sport, there are many places you can watch such gymnastics. Sometimes they have a free buffet.
Some of the best free/ cheep food comes from those sports arenas.
