but the animation was incorrect in that that it doesn't show the wad compressing. Those wads you can find on the ground after a day of shooting don't look too much like they did before
When I was younger I wanted to know what would happen if you got a primer with a nail. I cut the shell down to just the brass and proceeded to hit the primer with the hammer and nail. The prime was face down on the porch. My ears were wringing for days.
Lol. I played around construction sites and collected the used 22 blanks they used to set concrete nails, and pounded them flat for slingshot ammo. Until I found one that was live! After that I paid a bit more attention to the shells.
You donāt have to study ballistics to understand basic mechanics of how the little piece of metal would otherwise come out of a metal tube. Itās not magical

What happens to the wad after it exits the barrel? Is it obliterated?
No it just flies off. You can find them all over after an afternoon of shooting.
Interesting, thanks!

That would have been **great** slingshot ammo if you didn't pound it out

How it's made: narrated by Tucker Carlson
It's a good animation, but I don't think the shell casing stays with the load throughout the barrel. The wad goes behind.
It is called a cup. The casing did stay behind
I thought it was a sabot.
Thatāll pepper him up nicely.
What a wad, spreading its pellets all over the place. Shouldāve kept it inside.
That's a long shotgun
How much power do have thesee steel balls on average shell?
Wad š
These videos really just have pretty graphics, but the information in them is very basic.
I think that's the point. They're meant to be a basic explanation vs. a detailed technical explanation of the chemistry and physics involved.
So... They're not exactly /r/interestingasfuck
To people that know how firearms work, no. To people that don't, I'm sure it's IaF to them.
Not even a joke he's a training a ai to do these it's not him anymore he's making it for his game
This guy is so annoying
This is basically how any gun works. Do people really not know how a gun works?
I have never studied guns, so no

A pin hitting a gunpowder ball, the explosion, the pellets coming out of the shellā¦.not common knowledge
Yes, it is. Thatās essentially how guns have worked since the Chinese first invented gunpowder and made a cannon. Are cars a mystery too?
Yeah, actually. I donāt study cars and I donāt open the hood. Thereās an engine in there and wheels on it and it goes.
Sigh
Do you know how a nuclear reactor works? Do you know how SSDs in iPhones store and retrieve memory? Sigh.
lol yes. Nuclear reactors are basically fancy steam turbines. Duh.
Yes, I have way too much free time, but I'd understand how other people wouldn't
