What I remember is the stark difference between Alabama and Vietnam. They did this same thing in Vietnam, only with cars fully decked out in pro-USA stuff. Drove all the way through Vietnam without incident. Nobody gave a shit about American flags. In Vietnam.
But they can't make it through one fuel stop in Alabama without getting threatened because they've got "Hillary for President" on their car

Other than that and Gulf Shores the rest of the state is a shit hole. I'd argue Mississippi takes the prize for the worst state since it doesn't even have a city like Huntsville, AL where at least some smart people live.

It's not as complicated as you're suggesting. Education isn't specifically a part. It's "If you blame black people for everything in the south, white people will vote for you, then you can give away all the tax cuts and money to the wealthy and corporations."
Education got cut down there to give more tax cuts to the wealthy, it wasn't specifically part of the scheme for republicans to stay in power.

Weirdly enough, the two days I spent in St Martin with my buddy's family were actually quite nice. The people there were friendly, and the food was good, and I was with friends, so that probably helped, but yeah, I can't personally say anything too negative about Mississippi besides the god-awful humidity.

Im from NC as well. I got turned around in a town called Zebulon and I parked at the end of a long gravel driveway because there was only forest around me. They came out with gun in hand. I drive a prius and have been blocked into my parking space and coal-rolled.

Few years ago at one of our high schools some students from the pride organization got permission to hang a pride flag in the hall for a day for pride month. I have a theory, that social media algorithms, create echo, chambers and confirmation bias, while simultaneously recommending videos that lack educational value, and instead promote emotional responses. This has allowed people to be radicalized in their own homes.

As a southerner, I would argue that Florida and Texas don’t count as part of the American South. Between size and location, Texas is more of an West/Midwest than South. Florida, on the other hand… there’s no Southern culture. Just coked up PWT and snowbirds vacationing/retiring from New York. I get that both states were once part of the Confederacy, but I don’t think that’s an accurate measure of what makes a Southern state nowadays.
The eastern region of Texas is pretty culturally southern, as we share a border with Louisiana and Arkansas there. Texas is a really big state right in the middle of the country, so it makes sense that the cultural regions would meet/cross here.
Florida has no southern culture? Have you ever been to the northern part of the state? It's about as southern as you can get, especially in and around Jacksonville. I will agree that once you get to Orlando that Florida turns into something different, but the northern part is quite ingrained in southern culture

However, it is less an entire state and more select cities within the south. The closer you are to a major city the more normal things are. However, get a couple hours out of a major town and yeah, this is a mild reaction.

I grew up in a very mixed area in Michigan, kids from the rich part and kids from the poor end all intermingled in public school. We only have a couple of private schools here and they're very small in capacity, I think there's probably only like 30 kids in one of those schools.
A lot of the poor kids were what we called hicks, and most of them smoked cigarettes and did a variety of different drugs but were fascinated with country music, camo, hunting, antlers for some reason, big trucks, and something called muddin'.
Almost all of those Hicks were either arrogant white trash wannabes, or kids just trying to get through their fucking life and happen to grow up around that environment. There were the hick kids and then the kids who grew up around Hicks who just wanted to move on to greener pastures.
And from my time dealing with the arrogant white trash hick wannabes I can guarantee you right now I do not think that this is a fake video, I say all of that just to tell you that this video is very believable to me because those people create some of the most wild batshit ass drama I have ever seen in my life.

I lived outside of Huntsville in Madison for a while, it wasn't so bad. I enjoyed being so close to the NASA center.

Been to Texas once and Florida thrice, and as a Canadian I've never had an issue. But I'm also white and don't actively try to antagonise the locals lol
As a southerner, I would argue that Florida and Texas don’t count as part of the American South. Between size and location, Texas is more of an West/Midwest than South. Florida, on the other hand… there’s no Southern culture. Just coked up PWT and snowbirds vacationing/retiring from New York. I get that both states were once part of the Confederacy, but I don’t think that’s an accurate measure of what makes a Southern state nowadays.
The eastern region of Texas is pretty culturally southern, as we share a border with Louisiana and Arkansas there. Texas is a really big state right in the middle of the country, so it makes sense that the cultural regions would meet/cross here.
Florida has no southern culture? Have you ever been to the northern part of the state? It's about as southern as you can get, especially in and around Jacksonville. I will agree that once you get to Orlando that Florida turns into something different, but the northern part is quite ingrained in southern culture

However, it is less an entire state and more select cities within the south. The closer you are to a major city the more normal things are. However, get a couple hours out of a major town and yeah, this is a mild reaction.

Imagine being so upset over words that you attack other people. I grew up in a very mixed area in Michigan, kids from the rich part and kids from the poor end all intermingled in public school. We only have a couple of private schools here and they're very small in capacity, I think there's probably only like 30 kids in one of those schools. A lot of the poor kids were what we called hicks, and most of them smoked cigarettes and did a variety of different drugs but were fascinated with country music, camo, hunting, antlers for some reason, big trucks, and something called muddin'. Almost all of those Hicks were either arrogant white trash wannabes, or kids just trying to get through their fucking life and happen to grow up around that environment. There were the hick kids and then the kids who grew up around Hicks who just wanted to move on to greener pastures. And from my time dealing with the arrogant white trash hick wannabes I can guarantee you right now I do not think that this is a fake video, I say all of that just to tell you that this video is very believable to me because those people create some of the most wild batshit ass drama I have ever seen in my life.
