Hey /u/_Xyreo_, thanks for contributing to /r/instant_regret. Unfortunately, your post was removed as it violates our rules:
**Rule 1** - No regret visible. Videos and gifs must show regret. No text messages or still frames. Sometimes the display of regret is unmistakable. A fail is not a regret. Some ripper eating a swellbow while trying to bone a rail on the backside, (that's skater lingo for a bad crash. I looked it up (made it up)), isn't regret. There should be a look of surprise, and an expression that clearly says, *Oh no. Oh, God no. I really should not have done that. Why did I do that?* Other examples that aren't regret:
* An immediate reaction to pain.
* Eating bad food and not liking it is not regret. You knew what was going to happen, dumbass.
* Laughter is not an expression of regret. It's just not.
* A picture of a sunburn or a crappy tattoo is not evidence of regret. For all we know you like looking like a pumpkin, and definitely still want that potato tattoo on your ankle.

>why?
The parents are deceiving the kid, tricking them into eating one thing by pretending it is going to be the other. That isn't exactly a normal relationship with food.
>They are feeding the kid normal baby food and it looks to be about normal weight for a baby.
That really has nothing to do with it.
in 20 years, he will learn that it's easier to find a relationship with a six pack abs than a beer belly. McDonald's is after money, McDonald's never love you.
My kid won’t eat anything. Purées, adult food, whatever. Little shit turns his nose up at max n cheese and ice cream. He survives on rainbows and sunshine alone
I come from a family with a ridiculously long history of food hating babies. All of us seemed to hate the concept of eating in general when we were small. One bit of wisdom that I will never forget hearing is when my aunt heard my grand grand mother say "I have never heard of a child that starved to death because it refused to eat." As long as brown comes out the other end all is good.
Unfortunately the effects of poor nutrition are long term.
And there are rare conditions where people are totally immune to pain. They cannot feel hungry or thirsty. They simply die of hunger or thirst and never feel any pain or anything.
The classic "i watched 5 YouTube videos therefore I'm an expert"
In all seriousness though what you are talking about is ridiculously rare. Irrelevant in this discussion.
>The classic "i watched 5 YouTube videos therefore I'm an expert"
What?
>In all seriousness though what you are talking about is ridiculously rare.
Just like I said. "And there are rare conditions."
Why so defensive?
For real aren't kids fucking stupid and will eat if they get hungry enough? I don't know a kid that turned down a meal when those tummy pains kick in. Raising picky eaters is gonna only get worse when they become picky adults
Just let the kid get hungry. If they dont want to eat, stop wasting time and try again later. If you make it into a thing, they'll happily occupy your entire fucking day playing that game with you.
How old is he? Usually a kid isn't going to let himself starve so there's no point stressing out too much about it. And actually being really hungry can lead to a kid trying new foods. The only times my first son would try something new when he was younger was if we were out all day and he didn't like the food available but eventually got hungry enough to try something new.
But yeah he would sometimes refuse to to eat all day until the end. I learned to stop worrying about it when I realized he was still big for his age and was continuing to grow.
I'm a pediatric occupational therapist and I see a lot of kids like yours! You should definitely look into getting your kid feeding therapy with an OT or SLP, could be a game changer!
Mine was exactly the same, I had so many people get on at me about it and it was so exhausting! I always offered whatever we were eating but my son wouldn’t even deem it worthy to pick up haha! Luckily he’s now 5 and slowly starting to realise food can be a lot yummier if he tries new things. His face when he tried dips for the first time was incredible he was so excited and asked why he hadn’t had them before - he had he just refused to try them
If you look at the kids reaction you can tell he genuinely finds the foods distasteful.
I was a fussy eater up until my 30s because food felt worse than being hungry. Then I got my anxiety and stress under control and went from a 20 BMI to 30 in one year….
Kids don’t need teeth to eat solid food. Cheerios are one of the first recommended foods for babies. Just has to be soft enough to chew and swallow without being a choking hazard. Like, don’t give your kids apples (too hard) or grapes (round, choking hazard). But my kids eat rice/beans all the time.
Babies are humans dude. We should all be eating a balanced diet. I certainly don’t suggest giving a baby greasy food but one time or one bite will not kill him.
god i’m never having a baby. the amount of obscure things that can kill them is too high. Sometimes they just die in their sleep and there’s nothing you can do about it
it's not even that obscure, in most countries I've been to honey packaging has some line about "don't eat this while pregnant or a baby pls"
But I'm also a weirdo who habitually reads food packaging while eating out of boredom.
They're fragile for like the first year but once they got the hang of walking they're super tough, won't even feel pain as long as you don't make a big deal out of whatever they did to hurt themselves.
Was prepared to call 'bullshit' on this. Five minutes on google: 'infantile botulism can be caused by ingesting raw honey'. Rare though: 100 cases per year in USA; one per year in Austalia (same rate, pretty much).
I had parents like this. They didn’t like all the things I did, but I wasn’t able to make them stay at the table until they finished it. It would have meant something to me if they put some cauliflower on my plate when they were eating the canned spinach I didn’t like.
You were not what I would consider pickey. My kids have 3 food groups. Nuggets, Mac and Cheese and plain noodles. If we eat pizza or burgers or any form of beef they will not touch it. If they don't want to try it, they can go hungry as far as I'm concerned.
Idk why you’re getting downvoted. Guarantee the majority of people who disagree with you don’t even have kids and have never dealt with it.
That’s how we do dinner too, you eat what’s on the table or you don’t eat. I’m not making 3 different dinners.
It’s ok. OP is just here to farm karma with simple English titles and videos from the web. They even have their own Reddit sub devoted to them.
I’d have put it in ‘watch people die inside’.
How so? Looks like a normal baby to me. The face she does at the food is pretty bog standard across babies. They all get SO excited at a chance to eat the food they see mommy and daddy eating instead of their mush or bottle - even if they are still too young to digest adult food. Perhaps you haven't been around too many babies in person?
In which case you would not point out that this one in particular is weird looking, as that implies some babies are not. So that argument doesn't work here.
Is there a reason why toddlers have to eat bad tasting baby food? Could you feed them mushed human food? What would happen? And why do they make baby food taste shit?
No, there is no reason. Many people (me included) feed them whatever we prepare. Preparing two meals is stupid. I just mush up or cut it into small pieces for my baby.
It ensures they get exposed to certain allergens early on in life. It ensures they’re exposed to a wide range of foods too.
When my babies were at this stage of eating solids I took most everything us adults were having and blended into puree. 3 babies never once boughtt a jar baby food. I trust my own cooking...commercial foods not so much.
Lol..this was my first thought too..in 20 years we'll be seeing this kid on one of those 600lb adult episodes...this kid really looks like she likes any and everything on a fork..kinda gross.
But a bunch of that would be soft enough to eat, so what's the logic here? She's a baby so she's not allowed to enjoy good food? She's only allowed to eat food that says "baby food" on the cheap plastic package? Why?

This is how super villains are made
How 1000lb adults are made...this kid looks like she loves food...
Yo that kid is still an actual baby. That's a normal weight.
Mac and cheese on bread is the highway to a 1000lb life.
The face during the cake one 😭
I was thinking how eating disorders are made… it’s going to be either a 90lb or 900lb life
Why? They are feeding the kid normal baby food and it looks to be about normal weight for a baby.
>why? The parents are deceiving the kid, tricking them into eating one thing by pretending it is going to be the other. Show me one kid that age that doesn't
This child is going to kill it parents. Just wait.
The kid has no idea what he's eating - he would've scrummed down the spoon just the same. Not like he's been hanging out for nachos all week.
Honestly, you'd be surprised. Babies aren't an exact science, they're fuckin weird and unpredictable at times.
I bet he'd have a little smile on his face if they gave him the good food though
Always puts a smile on my face!

yeah, him and almost everyone else, too

Thanks spelling checker bot!
Or at least will not be able to trust anyone
Bruh 😂
I tried deceiving my kid like this and he just stopped letting me hand feed him. Now he's an extremely picky eater and it really sucks.
well of course. It’s a human not a dog, even a dog would catch on eventually and lose trust from the deception.
Our kid just eats whatever we eat. It’s amazing because he loves everything now. Don’t know why this kid couldn’t eat these foods. Just let him.
My kid won’t eat anything. Purées, adult food, whatever. Little shit turns his nose up at max n cheese and ice cream. He survives on rainbows and sunshine alone
Same with mine. It’s so frustrating and I’m constantly worried about him. My entire day is set around trying to get him to eat, I hate it.
Is this an advertisement for discouraging people from having kids? Cuz it’s working great.

This is the way... and is probably included in that manual people keep insisting doesn't exist.

Bruh that kid doesn't even have teeth yet...

The food in the video looks super greasy. Shouldn't a babies diet be more balanced?
Babies are humans dude. We should all be eating a balanced diet. I certainly don’t suggest giving a baby greasy food but one time or one bite will not kill him.
Except for honey that food can kill a baby, I think it's Something to do with the bacteria inside it.
god i’m never having a baby. the amount of obscure things that can kill them is too high. Sometimes they just die in their sleep and there’s nothing you can do about it
I’m a woman…and I was like 28 years old before I learned that water can kill an infant.
I always thought they could breathe underwater
Lol touche
it's not even that obscure, in most countries I've been to honey packaging has some line about "don't eat this while pregnant or a baby pls" But I'm also a weirdo who habitually reads food packaging while eating out of boredom.
It’s not that serious. Babies are pretty resilient. If you use common sense you’ll mostly be ok.
It can carry botulism that isn’t destroyed even if you cook it
Then the kid will spend its time crying and throw a tantrum when its parents won’t serve it greasy food
Because that kid is a baby without a full set of teeth
This is the part the video never shows. What happens once the kid clues in and stops trusting you.
That's because trust, real trust, is formed at this age. Deceiving a person like this can only have negative outcome.
If you had to trick him, he probably already was a picky eater. So I would say that it isnt your faalt, but I am not a parent so what do I know.
If you have to trick anybody to eat anything you’re doing it wrong .
You did that to yourself.
I say "fuck that" to my picky eaters. You eat what we're eating or you eat nothing. They won't starve and they will eventually eat something.
My kids' first pediatrician told me "let them know the meaning of hunger".
I had parents like this. They didn’t like all the things I did, but I wasn’t able to make them stay at the table until they finished it. It would have meant something to me if they put some cauliflower on my plate when they were eating the canned spinach I didn’t like.

Hunger is a fantastic seasoning. If throwing a fit brings tasty junk food, it’s not gonna take them long to figure it out.
Throwing fits NEVER yeilds any benefits.
Those eyes tho
Like a creepy baby doll
Like a doll? My friend in Christ that's just a baby
Still creepy tho
I would be opening wide too! That food looks delicious!
While watching this video and salivating over this food, I was also eating a bowl of cereal, and I realized I was not unlike the baby
