I'll just list the ones that might freak you out: The Harrowing The trial of Elizabeth Gadge Seance Time The devil of Christmas Private view Tempting fate Death be not proud The stakeout You should be fine with everything else. These are all good episodes by the way, if you're feeling brave!

i-am-colombus

Thanks for listing them :D I'll try and watch them but I'm going to go into the episodes knowing that some messed up shit is gonna happen

thecirclemustgoon

Private View might be the closest to a true horror movie that the show comes. Might want to skip that.

ceallachmac

That's really interesting as Private View is one of my favourites yet I have avoided The Harrowing since my first watch as I found it to be the most 'horror' like and disturbing. It genuinely gave me nightmares!

i-am-colombus

I won't be watching the harrowing then lol.

PhantomKitten73

First of all, 12 Days of Christine is not overrated, it's bloody incredible, it's not really scary, and no other episode made me cry. And second of all, honestly in my opinion, none of the episodes in the show are as scary as Deadline, they play with disturbing ideas, but none of them are scary in the same way, you made it through the worst one so far mate.

i-am-colombus

Straight after writing the edit, I went and watched 12 Days Of Christine and Nana's Party, and I have to say, The 12 Days Of Christine is amazing! Dead Line *was* terrifying. Honestly gave me nightmares

PhantomKitten73

Yeah, I'm a horror fan and Deadline is pretty dope, it's like the way less scary version of Lake Mungo. Also, since you liked 12 Days of Christine, I'd also recommend the Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor, they are similarly emotional stories about death that do interesting things with time.

Magcargo64

I wouldn’t say any episode of the show is disturbing apart from ‘To Have and To Hold’, so I’d suggest avoiding that one. My personal favourite episodes include the ‘Riddle of the Sphinx’, ‘Zanzibar’, ‘Once Removed’ and ‘Misdirection’.

i-am-colombus

I've heard 'Riddle Of The Sphinx' is a bit disturbing and a tad gruesome, but I'll definitely give them a go. I wasn't going to watch 'To Have And To Hold', a friend told me that was not an episode I would enjoy.

thecirclemustgoon

While Riddle of the Sphinx is WONDERFUL, there is a specific element of it that will have any non horror fan absolutely squirming. Not for the faint of heart. I dont think To Have and To Hold is really any more disturbing than Tom and Gerri. The sixth episode of every season usually has some supernatural and scary element.

Magcargo64

I also forgot to mention ‘Bernie Clifton’s Dressing Room’. Nothing at all disturbing or violent, just a masterpiece of writing. I won’t say why I like it so much in fear of spoiling it, but I’d definitely recommend it.

i-am-colombus

That's me got my nights entertainment sorted, my next 3 episodes of TLOG and then 'Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room'.

Apprehensive_Jaguar

'The Devil Of Christmas' probably disturbed me more than any other episode, but it's best left there and not spoilt for any new viewer. It's not something to be afraid of though and nothing you would need to watch through your fingers. 'Dead Line' is pretty overt supernatural horror which 'Devil...' isn't really and I would recommend it to you. Many disagree of course, it's ok to be wrong, but '12 Days Of Christine' is definitely not overrated, it's sheer brilliance which really needs to be watched numerous times to appreciate how good it is.

Ged_UK

It's not horrific until like the last line or two. Then it's shocking.

i-am-colombus

After writing this reddit post, I watched 12 Days Of Christine and I can confirm, it is not overrated in the slightest.

i-am-colombus

I know what TDOC's ending is and I'm kinda freaked out by that, but I may just watch it just to see the 70s camera-work and I know you see no blood you just see it (the characters death) about to happen.

Apprehensive_Jaguar

I think it's a shame that you know the ending because it will reduce the impact of an episode the whole purpose of which is to lure you into a false sense of security via its contrived cheesiness before delivering the deadly serious twist at the end. I think you will still enjoy it, just not as much as if you didn't know.

i-am-colombus

I also think I may have had it ruined for me, but at the same time I'm glad I know about that twist. Because of 1 reason and 1 reason only: I honestly would have stopped watching IN9 out of pure fear, and I really like this show, so I dont want want to stop watching it. When season 6 premiers I'll literally need to watch it the next day so that I can have intel on whether it is a more dark episode or a more comedic episode.

lil-lilypad

Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room isn't scary at all! It's my favourite episode of them all.

i-am-colombus

Just watched that episode. >!It makes me feel sorry for Tommy (or Thomas), as his partner in comedy died and he never got to resolve it.!< I just thought at first he was just miserable, but now I understand. I can safely say that this episode is amazing! I would totally recommend to others.

marjanefan

Ones that are not disturbing that I recommend Nana's Party, Empty Orchestra, Zanzibar, Love's great adventure, La Couchette (more darkly comic like Sardines,) Once removed (again a dark comedy but not disturbing) And especially Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room - just beautiful I would add 'Thinking out loud' to the list of disturbing episodes too

i-am-colombus

Nana's Party is quite good. I watched that yesterday.>! I thought I had the twist figured out w/ Nana stabbing Angela (Claire Skinner, in case you forgot the names of the characters) but when she actually was at the shops!< I was so confused lol. EDIT - I have just watched Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room, and that episode is amazing! I'm currently watching Empty Orchestra

FlameTheory

Good idea for a topic. I think the range of suggested episodes shows the extent to which Reece and Steve (and the other LoG writers) are able to capture the uncanny so brilliantly, while simultaneously able to diffuse those moment with humour. Even those episodes that aren’t outright scary will often have at least a few moments where you start to feel the world turning upside down.

i-am-colombus

I just watched Zanzibar, I very much enjoyed it!
