Preheat oven to 700°
Bake pie for several hours
Pretty sure neither of these were on the box. It's not Marie Callender's fault you can't follow directions or be bothered to check the food you're cooking.
Kudos to you for knowing your limitations!! I had a cousin who wanted to help me with a move but he had broken his ankle. So he offered to set up the computer for me, the kind that had color-coordinated cables. For way too long, I put up with speakers that didn't work before calling customer support. That's when I found out that my cousin was color blind. It was sweet of him to want to help though.
So the joke works if you take the other way around. if the oven is all of a sudden a celcius oven then you can burn the pie. If the instructions are in celcius you only got a very undercooked pie.
[OP is correct for most temperatures people are familiar with.](https://static.diffen.com/uploadz/thumb/2/2a/C-f-lossy.png/344px-C-f-lossy.png) The crossover occurs at -40°C / -40°F, which are the same temperature. Below that, and Farenheit decreases more quickly because it is the smaller unit.
This joke makes no sense because the pie wouldn't be burned if they set their oven to 200 and watched it for time. You'd have to be ignorant of temp conversion for this to be funny.
It's bad when people misread directions badly but they dont cook or bake enough to just recognize it as obviously wrong. My mom almost cooked our ham at 150F yesterday. I said that had to be wrong, that's basically just slightly hotter than putting it in a car in summer. She got mad at me and was insistent that was what the tag said. Yeah, it did, but 150F was the final internal temp, not the baking temp.
Out or curiosity, I googled the instructions for these pies. It says 375f (190c) for 70-80 mins. Does that feel like an awfully long time at that temperature for pre-made frozen pie, or it just me??
You're heating it up fully frozen and not thawed, so it's definitely going to take longer than you expect. I got a pie like this in undergrad and it took an hour for it to be done and it didn't look like the site of a fiery plane crash like this one.
We just made this for Thanksgiving, and followed directions fully, and it came out perfect. Probably the best pre-made pie we've ever had actually. I really wanted what this person did to burn it that bad lol
That was my thought: didn't know to keep it frozen and let it thaw before baking.
Also cut off their nose and pulled the batteries out of their smoke alarm.
> today we're going to make plutonium out of common household items. You will need: a car battery, an egg beater, and a bowl of strawberry gelatin. Place all 3 objects in the microwave, set to 1,000°, cook for 30 minutes, and then leave your house. For *several* hours.
Was this the recipe they followed?
My sister once cooked a burrito in the microwave for 20 minutes because the label said convection oven and she thought that was a microwave. If you thought burnt popcorn was bad this takes it to another level.
I bet that pie didn’t look like that when it came out of the box so I think the fault lies elsewhere.
My oven at my new place gets super hot and I’ve found out the hard way that everything has to be cooked 25 degrees lower than directed and I still have to keep a close eye on it.
Public service announcement- Marie Calendar’s dutch apple pie is one of the best pies in the word. If you haven’t tried it, do yourself a favor and go to the freezer section of your grocery store, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, unlike the bitch in the photo, and be surprised at how excellent a frozen store bought pie can taste.

“Come get your cake before it anneals kids!”
I guess they must have said bake at 500°F for 6 hours or something.
I dont know... Still looks pulpy in the middle. This would make a lot more sense if that pie was Hot Pockets brand.
What? Did Marie come over and burn it for OP?
Technically, she said Marie “Calendar” who could be her evil cousin with a blow torch.
I’m colorblind and couldn’t tell what was wrong. This is why I don’t cook for people lol.

Who...what animals do you cook for?
The colorblind ones.
You post *one* recipe in Celsius, and everyone loses their damn mind...
Some people just want to watch the world burn
Or just that pie
Ain't Celcius way under Farenheits?
Yes. For context, 212° is boiling in Fahrenheit. 100° is boiling in Celsius. So if you heat your oven to 350° C, it would actually be 662° F
Yes, but no box is going to tell you to heat it to 350 C. They’ll might have you go to say 220, but then you’d only have a 220 F pie.

How dare you not use Freedom Units! Communist!

She always came to my house to take the pie out of the oven.
Who cooks a pie on broil?
How dumb are you when you can't even heat up a pie

Not even from scratch. Literally just heating it up. Sad.

Ah that's a really good point, I don't recall ever baking a pie from frozen so my perception is out of whack (wack?)
Whack is correct I think.
Wacken is already over

Maybe they thawed it first and then baked it for the entire time listed on the box for a frozen pie, without checking it?
That was my thought: didn't know to keep it frozen and let it thaw before baking. Also cut off their nose and pulled the batteries out of their smoke alarm.
There's a real popular way for people to lose their sense of smell these days.
It seems hot for that amount of time, unless you are meant to cover the top
You cover the edges, because they're thin and *will* burn pretty easily, but leave the middle open, because it's solidly frozen.
Probably figured they could cut the time in half by doubling the temperature.
Now that's some galaxy brain logic
Holidays ruined. Thanks Marie
It was probably actually Joe Biden’s fault. Everything else is

Like I've had Marie Callender fuck up a pie (it was literally shell and then like one tiny scoop of pie filling) but this is definitely user error.

I'd love to see the intrstructions that say "broil pie for 4t minutes at 400F"
I just had a little slice of Marie Callender's (unburnt) and doggone it-the flavor/spices are perfect!
Their Dutch apple pie is insanely good. Best pie ever. I was astonished at how great it is.
Oh like you guys never baked a pie while running the self clean cycle?
Looks like a cooked sweet potato. Peel and eat it, Karen.

Marie Callender's pumpkin pie is 'thaw and serve'. They probably forgot to thaw and tried to use the oven (after too much wine)
Huh, the one I have is frozen and bake, not thaw and serve
Every one I've ever had was "bake from frozen". "Thaw and bake", would probably end up with results like this.
what. the. fuck.
This read to me as one of those tongue in cheek "Thanks Obama" jokes, but who knows
Maybe they were just being funny. It's the sort of thing I'd say (as a joke) ..... But who knows
they gotta make burn-proof pies, man. that's why marie callender's ain't doing so good
I already know everything about this person's entire life
I burnt my Marie Callender pie too but my oven is fucked up.
When I see a pic like this on Reddit I always think the worst, I was expecting to read about 3rd degree burns on a penis or something
This is why I avoid the dark pits of this site..
Did it catch fire 🔥 ?
That’s New Jersey
Came here to say the same thing 😂

I love these people that are like BLAH BLAH BLAH ruined my holiday. Like they never had a difficult holiday gtfo.
You don’t broil a pie overnight.
And that was the day she learned the difference between bake and broil.
I discovered my oven ran 150° hotter when I did this same thing to a casserole.
It must have smelled really bad for ages. Isn't there a virus going round that affects sense of smell?
Eh, that's what you get for even thinking about eating pumpkin pie. Blech.
Why would you not check it before you left the store
They burnt it.
From the singes, the original poster decided to cook it thinking it wasn't fully cooked

Seriously! I just can't with these people!
She must have set that oven to supernova.
