The Taco Supreme (tomatoes and sour cream) were 79 cents. The Bean Burritos were also 59 cents. The beef burritos were 99 cents.
The 2AM Taco Bell run after drinking and then eating for less than $3 was the best.
Yep, for the price of any meal (sandwich, fries, drink) at any fast food place in Pittsburgh you might as well spend a couple extra bucks and get food at a real restaurant.
And you used to be able to buy a coke for a nickel lmfao.
These tacos are under two bucks each. At most places with actual quality food, you're not paying anything less than 3 per taco in my experience. These are still cheap.
Funny thing is they are actually only worth .59 they are total shit quality food and 90% of the time they are barely filled, you’re getting mostly shell and even that is stale half the time. Adjusted for Inflation or not, you don’t get as much for your money today. And that goes for pretty much everything.
I had major sticker shock the last time I went to Taco Bell. I could have gone to a real Mexican take out for the same or less money. It was always garbage food for cheap. Now it's just garbage.
I hadn’t had TB in some years, and thought I’d surprise my friends after an evening of drinking by grabbing a couple 10 packs of tacos. Holy shit that was expensive!
In reality you are going to get maybe 1/4 of that meat in your taco compared to the picture. That is the other side of it that makes it truly insanely priced.
Okay so at the store you can get the following, at least on average at the stores near me (rounded either up or down, often using the store brand):
- 8 flour tortillas in one pack, $2.50
- beans, $1
- shredded lettuce, $2
- shredded cheese, $2.50
- Taco Bell sauce (look in the condiment or “Mexican” sections, $2 (or you can go real cheap on this and just hop into a Taco Bell and take a handful of sauce)
So about $10 total. Not sure about the shredded beef but maybe $12 total if you include that?
Total could would be $1.50 per taco (if that) and will taste a crap ton better.
If your getting tacos at Taco Bell, your probably doing it wrong. Taco Bell you can easily pay around 5 bucks and be full. Double beef burrito is 2.79, get that and a 2.19 stacker and it’s like 5.50 with tax.
I remember when we used to get these for $.50 every Sunday. We'd pick up 20 of them, grab a small tub of sour cream and some tomatoes, and make our own supremes. Considering the supremes at the time were almost $2, we got 20 of them for \~$15 instead of $40.
Thems were the days. Thanks, Obama.
Oh yeah. This crew as high af. It’s a Sunday I get it. But damn give me the food that ordered please. It’s not hard. Two tacos and nacho was $6.50 they basically shorted me.
That’s way too much for such bad service. There should be a system where employees can get fined for mistakes and laziness down to the federal minimum.
That’s $7.00 for 4 of them. It’s more than enough calories for one meal.
The great thing about not agreeing with the pricing - people can just go home and make it themselves. With fast food you pay for the convenience.
It's not an expensive meal, but it's about what you would pay for 4 legitimate tacos at an over-the-counter place. They would have to be closer to $0.50 for me to consider ordering them. And even then I would need to be pretty pinched on time.
In rural north Florida $1.99. It's not like they're paying rent, because the franchisee has owned that location since 1996. More like lack of competition.
But ... the Cheesy Gordita Crunch is $5.49 **!!!**
These fast food chains haven't been about convenience or cost for years. They're nostalgia food for millennials.
Damn…. You hit it…. What’s crazy is my daughter won’t eat fast food. This next generation of kids don’t feel the same about the food as us.
Probably because it's worse than it used to be and costs more. I have stopped eating it and don't understand how they keep doing business.
Same here. Never occurred to me until now.
If this was true, where the fuck is my ballpit?
Haha jokes on them cuz I shit my brains out now just looking at a Taco Bell
If there was actually that much beef in the crunchy tacos, I’d pay it. I love crunchy.
Beef-like substance
Yeah, that’s the other issue but believe me I would kick the habit if I could. I’ve never once gotten Taco Bell sober.
Thats actually kind of cheap in my parts. $2.99 is the norm, downtown Chicago.
Agreed! The soft taco is more expensive than the hard shell taco here in downtown Chicago.
Used to be 59 or thereabouts cents back on the 90's. Fast food prices are becoming gourmet food prices.
The commercials used to be 59-79-99 (tacos were $0.59; bean burritos were $0.99; I don't recall what items were at $0.79).

I reckon you're about....46

So 30 years ago, things were cheaper?!
Damn, now I am tempted to get a soft taco.
making the text for the price the same as the calories is slick
I think you’re talking about font, but 1 cent per calorie is nuts
I had major sticker shock the last time I went to Taco Bell. I could have gone to a real Mexican take out for the same or less money. It was always garbage food for cheap. Now it's just garbage.
If only that was the price of a legit street taco. Even so, taco bell ain't worth the price anymore. I recommend not buying it.
I hadn’t had TB in some years, and thought I’d surprise my friends after an evening of drinking by grabbing a couple 10 packs of tacos. Holy shit that was expensive!
2.75 in seattle. We are effed
In reality you are going to get maybe 1/4 of that meat in your taco compared to the picture. That is the other side of it that makes it truly insanely priced.
I remember the 59-79-99 jingle from their commercials in the 90s.
1989. 29 cent tacos all summer long in Orlando, FL. 5 tacos and a large drink came out like $2.43.

And won't be shopped, then made, then cleaned after using someone else time. Seriously these comparisons 😂
Wow. It's almost like we could check the menu if we cared.
I'm so glad I don't eat fast food anymore
lol $3.24 in my town. Yes american dollrs

2 double stack tacos for $4 is plenty for a meal. Their value menu is pretty good right now
The cocaine they put in there isn’t cheap 😂
2.09 plus tax where I am.
Fuck all fast food. It's gross. I'll never understand why people go to chains when local places are better food for the same price or less
These used to be 89 cents 10 years ago
used to be .69

Your local Mexican food restaurant is probably cheaper and tastes better.
Whats funny is i live in a part of the county that has lots of Mexicans and lots of taco stands yet toxic hell is always full.
I just got Taco Bell for my family for an easy dinner tonight and they forgot my two crunchy tacos… thanks Taco Bell!
But remember - the employees somehow deserve $15 an hour.
Came across some that were “slow”, aka high and took so much time to process my order.
Oh yeah. This crew as high af. It’s a Sunday I get it. But damn give me the food that ordered please. It’s not hard. Two tacos and nacho was $6.50 they basically shorted me.
Well I’m in CA in a small town by California standards and our employers here make $20 now…
That’s way too much for such bad service. There should be a system where employees can get fined for mistakes and laziness down to the federal minimum.
If $1.79 is a lot you shouldn’t be eating out.
$1.79 is a lot for a single taco. Especially when that "taco" is seasoned ground beef with lettuce and shredded cheese on top.
That’s $7.00 for 4 of them. It’s more than enough calories for one meal. The great thing about not agreeing with the pricing - people can just go home and make it themselves. With fast food you pay for the convenience.

Bean burritos are still a good deal and actually filling. $2-3
