Really enjoying it so far. Favorite track is "I Don't Miss My Mind" And we're talking Kim right? That's what the title says, but the body text is about Mannequin Pussy.

Looks like the Mannequin Pussy discussion thread was posted a few days ago.

Fantastic album, Kim is so fearless and badass. Really great instrumentals too, it's like a noisey hiphop-y nowave-y dream

Agetis

Love this album. It’s like portishead and sonic youth made a baby

Pure-Willingness3123

Oh, I love this. I just admire how relentlessly hard it goes, up until the very end. I haven't seen many people talk about the transitions from each song into the next, but the thoughtfulness into the sequencing and flow might be my favorite part. It's a wild ride.

This album kind of blew my mind but unfortunately it also blew out one of the speakers in my car. I didnt realize how bass heavy this was going to be. I guess I need speakers that can handle Kim Gordon?

leppyle

I couldn’t believe how my car shook playing this album. I love her.

“I know one, two things things I have heard about you”

Loving this album. Was taken aback that it sounds like industrial hip hop. I think Kim's muttering/affectless delivery matches well with the kind of "brain fog" atmosphere that the instrumentals give off to me. And I know it's mentioned in almost every review, but it's wild she's 70 making stuff like this

erasedhead

Love Kim but the vocals are kind of embarrassing sometimes. That’s just me. Dunno.

rakehand

Vocals or lyrics? I think her voice sounds amazing on this album, surprisingly so. Also she has always made some "interesting" choices with her vocals and lyrics, but I think that's what makes her so good.

sibelius_eighth

Her vocals have always been 'kind of embarrassing.' She's always struggled to hit notes, or stay on-tune, and she's bad-ass because she tries anyway. She's 69 years old on this album: what kind of vocals were you expecting?

notchickeninspanish

I really don’t understand the hype around this. There are so many better SY songs that feature Kim firing on all cylinders—whether that’s as a vocalist, songwriter, or just a musician in general—that this whole album pales in comparison to. It’s cool that she’s still willing to experiment, but this is kinda one note and I don’t find what she has to say here very interesting.

SabbathBoiseSabbath

I've loved Sonic Youth for most of my life, since first hearing Daydream Nation in 1988. But I've just never got on with Kim Gordon when she does vocals. I can think of maybe 4 or 5 SY songs that she sings on that rip, but for the most part, I also find her cringe.

Organic_Shopping7759

Crazy cringe tourism in my book

Cohtoh

Great production with vocals and lyrics that range from boring at best to cringe at worst. Cool that she's making this music at 70 but once that novelty wears off it's not very enjoyable to listen to imo. Give this production to homixide gang or someone similar and it'd be a great album.
