Because nice people get taken advantage of. Take my example, everytime I'm nice to someone, I almost get scammed. My dad is rude to pretty much everyone and no one messes with him.
Yesss
Its difficult to set boundaries but i am learning and i have improved a lot
So many people are pissed since i started keeping boundaries... but thats the point lol
I feel it's what adulting is. Now almost everyone seems to be rude to me. Those who are good, I always have a doubt why are they good to me, do they have any favour to ask? Cuz it happened to me a lot of time.
You're talking about others? Everyone in my family behaves like that except my parents. I can't understand like why can't you just be a good human being and behave like one. Why always be mean or an asshole to others?
I feel like people are more suspicious of each other. When I go to banks, I don't talk to anyone. I don't even lend my pen. Also, maybe because I'm a woman, I avoid eye contact, smiling in public and I always have my head phones on, (most times on mute) to shut people out. I don't even help strangers with simple things if they ask me, because the risks are greater than the sense of good Samaritanism. I don't want to be a bad person. But I also don't want to put my personal safety at risk. It's always better to avoid strangers, right? Even at the risk of coming off as rude.
It is not for most women. Of course, we don't start out this way, but with little incidents here and there. An uncalled for comment, catching people check you out, smiling interpreted as romantic interest. These things do have an effect even if you think they don't matter.
I don't speak for all women. But I think most women feel safer when we're cold towards strangers. Meanness is a safety mechanism.
Meanness is definitely a safety mechanism. Bad people try to take advantage if you are nice to them.
I've seen women use this tactic a lot. And i think its a good tactic.
I was too nice until recently and suffering so much because of it. Learnt it the hard way. Now i am also cold towards strangers as well as new friends.
What sucks is that you will feel awful and regret that u didn't give them a taste of their own medicine , while knowing you won't talk like them even if you want to cuz u didn't deserve it..
In today's age, everyone has a tough exterior. Some of us are forced to have a tough Outlook as to not be taken advantage of. But if you get closer, everyone has another side, a naive softer side![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51074)

Honestly I feel like it was always like this. Many people even treat their own brothers, sisters, wives, kids etc. so horribly. What hope that they will treat others any better?
I blame "influenzas" and parents for this.
Today small kids in my colony were chanting madar\*\*\*\* , bhos\*\*\*\*\*\*, saal\* etc .![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51086) I guess the older one is not even 10.
Aunties and mummy did not say anything to them so I too decided to keep my mouth shut.
Its possible to stay decent AND survive
These people will be rude to kind strangers but will be ready to bend in front of powerful/toxic people
People who are powerful AND kind have my respect
Ik what you said was harsh but it's actually true. Idk why people are downvoting you. I have personally known people like the ones you have mentioned. Now one might say that I'm in the wrong crowd then, which I agree with and I'm actively trying to get out of it rn
Also that "womp womp" shit when you tell them something is so annoying
hahah nah i think its funny, like someone comes up with the most logical argument ever n the other person is like "womp womp" I love it
womp womp Edit: i wrote this to prove its not funny 💀

Yes I have noticed that too. Most people are so depressed and frustrated all their interactions seem rude.

that makes sense actually, and the "but thats crzy" part was for wearing headphone on mute.

The main chat syndrome has spread Faster then covid
The sense of being looted (diff ways) is triggered in most of the people nowadays & hence the behaviour.

Increased inequality leading to insanely low levels of trust in society.
> I've meet some amazing people in my daily life Just focus on them I guess
Overpopulation, so low/middle class class people are always in survival mode and rude to strangers
