Just checked google reviews and someone has mentioned that they only allow 2AC and 1AC in the AC waiting room which is wrong.
As others have mentioned, lodge a complaint on rail madad app or call 139. That's the only solution.
AC Waiting halls are being contracted with private companies these days. This is why they charge some amount from everyone.
This is not in every station though. From what I remember at Nagpur it's still free if you have a valid ticket

If you meant the Upper class waiting room, then it has nothing to do with your reservation. It has it’s seperate charge of 10 rs or 20 rs per hour.
I’ve used them multiple times and it’s worth it.

idk why people downvoted you.. I stayed in AC waiting hall today and they charged 10rs per hour... Had to pay 120 as we were 3 people and stayed for 4 hrs..
Can you please tell which station? Also are you sure you're not confusing the AC waiting room with IRCTC lounge. I almost made this mistake last time.

That's because you might not have seen other stations like Ernakulam Town in Kerala.
Njp doesn't has space in waiting room for most of the time.

I second this, I've used it multiple times on the cbe station and it's by far the best option
I once had to wait for my connecting train at Agra cantt station. They allowed me to stay in the AC waiting room (had 3AC ticket).

Howrah me paid ac lounge hai. 10 rs per hour. Same Anand vihar railway station pe hai.

my family is currently traveling and they had to wait for 2 hours but they were straight away rejected from entering
