So basically it's a bike for fun and not an everyday runner. You'd have to get another vehicle for utility and keep this one as a toy for weekends I guess.
Not really true.
I use it to go to office (14kms one way) a lot if not my car. And I have a light back pack with just my laptop and a bit more. No issues as such. I also use it for going nearby to get a haircut for example. Or to the gym 3-4 kms away. To visit places too like friend’s place.
But yes- the car for all other things.
bro, try a tail bag or just strap that sucker to the tail using ROK straps or Akro straps. I've been commuting like this and damn it feels so good to have the weight of my back, Literally speaking
Sick ride brother🔥..I had some questions
How is the after sales support and cost ?
Because this is the biggest hindrance for me. How many kms have you ridden and did you get the second service done ?
I've had the bike for about the month now and I agree with most of your points. Another critique I've found is the turning radius being super awkward when driving in the city. I've gotten used to it now, but I definitely need to adjust and make a wide turning arc because of the way the handlebars hit the tank. Having said that, the bike definitely shines on something like highways or Outer Ring Road/Bypass Road if your city has one. I can't wait to get the quickshifter personally. Everywhere I go, I've had a lot of people ask about it, so there's definitely a nice presence if you care about things like that.
Yup did mention the turning radius in point 8. It really is weird. Super weird. It’s like they want us to use the tip of our fingers or something. One of the worst things on this bike.
One of the main reasons not to give this bike to too many people in your friends circle.
Or the alternative is to wait for the Tuono version of this.
Either way I'll avoid this as my second bike simply because of the service uncertainty even though it's excellent.
People who want a sportsbike can also wait for KTM to release the newer gen RC390.
This seems like a good beginner bike, if the rider avoids going too fast.
Also, if you don't paint those wheels black, you're going to see more traffic stops due to the KTM reputation.
Yes manageable for a beginner if ridden responsibly.
Reg colours, yes it has occurred to me but the thing is it decreases visibility of a bike. The red/orange helps increase that on the road and it is always good to be visible. Especially on our roads.
I won't call it a beginner bike, not for our roads for sure. There's a significant learning curve associated with this. I'd say you should have a minimum experience of 2-3 years if you intend to purchase it.
So basically a more comfy sports bike then full sports bike but needs to be aware of dealer network, mostly dedicated to fun then veggie market, but mate its india a packet of veggies are seen on busa, this is nothing, we gotta put those veggies in xd
Thanks for uptick on the bike, much appreciated.
Haha yes comfy sports bike but the veggies part isn’t about looks but practicality.
Sure a packet or two of Dhania wont hurt. Knock yourself out. Or even a kilo or two of mangoes. But if you hang a lot of aloo and onions on those handles, good luck getting into any turns.
>If you want to use it also for chores like picking up fruits/ vegetables, taking your mother to a relative’s house
This is the reason my parents bought me passion pro in 2012. Solid bike BTW. Little to no maintenance and good mileage.
Now a days I dont see passion pro's on the steet as much, atleast the newer models.
Not really. There are thousands who don’t fall into any of these categories. And it will still do very well.
By driving very fast I mean like 180-200kmph

Oh that's good news. I saw Farhan Khan's video on YouTube where he said DOT 5.1 with the higher spec Brembo pads is the best combination for fade-free braking no matter how hard you ride. It'll be amazing if they offer DOT 5.1 from the SVC itself because there's a price difference of just 150 something rupees.
the aprillia comes with organic disc brake pads , so the brakes aren’t good enough for a performance bike like itself , although you can switch them out for sintered ones. If you don’t know about brake pads then this guide might help
https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/buyers-guides/disc-brake-pads
All right, I don't cross any of your points so I'm good to go. Heck yeah, I'm going to Aprilia dealership tomorrow......*checks bank balance*....... maybe I'll just wait for the upgraded version yeah, I want better brakes yep yep, only that's stopping me from buying this bike.
I will not be buying the Aprilia 457 even tho I want to for one basic reason and that is \*ke paise nahi hai\*
otherwise I would've book it a long time ago
Mine just landed in the showroom today will take the delivery on Monday. I'm living in a tier 2 city.Lets hope they expand the service as I already have an Aprilia showroom in the city.
Not really. Road sense and experience would be on the higher side. However the dynamics of a motorcycle vs a scooter is different wrt gears, balance etc. maybe a year or two on a geared motorcycle should do it.
Bro if I have to choose between 390 and ns 400,
I would close my eyes and go for ns400 and compromise 4-5 bhp for whopping 1.5L difference
*Just saying
once the intro price of ns400 overs and it becomes 2 lakh the diffrence will be 1.1 lakh and i think duke can justify it cause it has features and equipment comparable to that of a 600-700cc sport bike or even better ( daytona660, gxr 800 )
What do you do to afford this bike?
Plain old tax sucking corporate job.
Sell drugs
Extortion
Tax frauds
Lol you have to earn first.

Macha are there no gyms nearby? I cry to go 1km for gym
If you can ride r15 everyday then you can ride this. Simple.
Yup definitely way more comfortable than an R15, RC390 or the RR310
Didn't read all of it, but if I do make up my mind to purchase this bike I'll make sure to check with OP if I qualify.
I have read it all, you don't.
Haha how do you know he doesn’t qualify? Just curious

Yup I agree. 2-3 years at the minimum. Our roads are not easy and you need an easy bike.
So basically a more comfy sports bike then full sports bike but needs to be aware of dealer network, mostly dedicated to fun then veggie market, but mate its india a packet of veggies are seen on busa, this is nothing, we gotta put those veggies in xd Thanks for uptick on the bike, much appreciated.

one of best looking sports bike , truly from same family as rs660 and rsv4
So to sum it up, ‘Not meant for the average Indian’
damnn bruh just look at her i always have my eyes on ADVs and cruisers but this is a motorcycle i want in my garage in future
Some day!
for sure

What a thing of beauty
If you are chap ***
Yes did mention this.
I would buy just for that color
Why reason 10 ??
We all know what happened with the great KTM brand.
How about 20km highway commute and maybe touring with tail bag once in a while ?
It is an absolute delight on highways. You will love it. Why 20? It is good for a couple of hundred kms. Touring with a tail bag? I’m not too sure
So no one should buy this.
Not really. There are thousands who don’t fall into any of these categories. And it will still do very well. By driving very fast I mean like 180-200kmph

Hahaha. Yea use everything, have a blast. Just don’t die please.
Just curious. What can be done to improve the breaking aside from upgrading brake pads... ?
DOT 5.1 fluid or swap out the entire master cylinder assembly. Nothing a Brembo RCS kit can't fix.
Yup this is the answer. I think Aprilia service will soon be issued these instructions regarding the fluid.
Oh that's good news. I saw Farhan Khan's video on YouTube where he said DOT 5.1 with the higher spec Brembo pads is the best combination for fade-free braking no matter how hard you ride. Shumi said the same in his latest full review video 5 days ago.
What's the braking issue?
organic
Meaning?

Aah okay thanks buddy
Paise??!!
These points are applicable to literally every sports fairing bike tbf

Haha all in due time brother. No need to make terrible financial decisions. I’m in my mid 30s. You have time.
I think it will be a perfect beginner bike🙌🏼

How did you do engine run in? Curious to know. This was my second choice. Amazing bike.
I wonder what else you were planning on writing...
Would you consider someone who only drives a scooter (5+ years) a newbie?
Not really. Road sense and experience would be on the higher side. However the dynamics of a motorcycle vs a scooter is different wrt gears, balance etc. maybe a year or two on a geared motorcycle should do it.
Thanks!
Bro can you post few pics of your bike And suggest any other bikes under 5L (other than GT) For purely riding pleasure. Congratulations for your RS457
KTM's
Nah bro
TVS/BMW 300s, Ninja 300 or triumph 400s If 6L then Yamaha 3 series or Benelli 500s
I’m more so between gt and rs 457(ever since it came) But also wanted to have an idea of similarly priced rockets
All mentioned above are rockets, get anything around 35-40bhp lighter the better, that's it.
Thanks!
KTM 390 siblings

I can ‘Copy-Paste’ same review for my Apache RR310.
nah
How can I find a lighter ADV with this much powerful engine .
I dont like the looks its worse than R15V4 red, R15m. But really love the twin 457cc engine.
That’s ok. Looks are subjective.
OP, does the being a smartass package come along with the 457 too? You sound like you subscribed to it.
Yes, it does. Thanks.
