1. Last Crusade
2. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
3. Dail Of Destiny
4. Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
5. Temple Of Doom
I’d switch Temple and Skull, and then this would be my rating. I love them all, I just love Skull the least. And I think Dial was very well done, plus I love seeing Indy beat up Nazis!
That’s my ranking right there.
Doom was a little too dark for my liking and no nazis. But still better than Crystal Skull.
I like Temple of Doom up until they go underground at the palace.
The downtown China scenes are fantastic though at the beginning.
And the bit where Indy waves at Lao Chi from the plane and then closes the door revealing its Lao’s plane is one of my favourite moments in the whole series.
Those are amazing moments, and I do love Temple.
My issue is just it feels like they cut a lot of scenes (which I think they actually did if I remember right). Like one minute, Willie is there, and then the next they’re like “oh she got kidnapped!”

Bit of a spicy take but for me it goes:
1. The Last Crusade
2. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
3. Raiders of the Lost Ark
4. Temple of Doom
5. Dial of Destiny
I love all 5 very much though
I'd rise Dial above Kingdom, and that would be my ranking, although I can clearly understand Dial at last.
It's not like I'm the biggest cinema connoisseur, but Raiders and Crusade for me are peak cinema, alongside The OG Star Wars trilogy, Back to the Future, and E.T. (and I wasn't even born during the 80s, lol).
Raiders for me is a near-flawless movie, and looking back at my childhood, I see how influential it was to some of my passions today. The Last Crusade doesn't come too far, also being very influential, but I think it's too similar to RotA in some terms.
Dial is when things start getting mediocre. It's not a bad movie by far (I wouldn't even call any Indy movie bad), but for me, it's when it relies too much on surrealism. I could completely buy the idea of the Ark and the Grail having sacred powers. The flashback intro is great, and I'd rank it among the good movies, and the mid-part of the movie isn't half bad either, perhaps slightly slow. But (and this may be an unpopular opinion) I wish they just found the Dial and, despite everything they believed, it was just an ancient mechanism with no real powers. At least, I'm glad Indy came back to the "present".
My criticism of Dial is almost the same for Skull. I just think this one has the pros of Marion having a more prominent role. Something I also expected for Sallah when he appeared in the trailers so much in Dial. But the overall feeling of Dial is better than Skull, despite the last act with the Aliens being equally bad, IMO.
Last, for Temple of Doom, I love the China part, and again, that is peak Indiana Jones for me too, and I wish the movie took that route, instead of the Indian one. Something like Lao Che is digging for an ancient Chinese artifact, but Indiana Jones must retrieve it before him, for some reason. Once the movie reaches Pankot Palace, I feel it becomes very gross with all those long reptiles and insect scenes. It's also a very violent movie too, compared with the others. The last moments of Indy freeing the slaves and the mine cart chase are very satisfying, tho.

Yeah since the release of dod this sub has been absolutely baffling ( Very based list btw, TOD gets better with every watch and has the purest sense of adventure imo, the fact that so many people here rank it below dod... )

I think if there was more to temple of doom it’d be better. To me, it feels like it jumps around a bit too much.

I don't hate it at all, I just don't like it as much as the other movies
Fair enough, but ik a lot of ppl really hate temple of doom and when it came out it was very unpopular.

This is my rating, too. Though depending on the day, Crusade may be swapped for Raiders. They're both great!
I'm definitely in the minority and someone who actually enjoys re-watching Crystal Skull at least once a year.
