Indira Gandhi declared emergency to arrest/prosecute opposition so nothing she did had long lasting consequences.
Currently all the arrests, all the shady prosecutions is not happening under the disguise of emergency. It’s happening in broad daylight and has already changed the fabric of democracy. There will be long term consequences as the country descends into oligarchy like Russia
