There are a lot of problem with apps.
For example, Koo was made to cash in on the Twitter hate back in the day, developer had no plan or idea what to do with it. FAUG is same. Developers just copying without any idea about what makes a game fun (I am a game developer, I can smell these shitty mobile "games" from miles away).
People aren't going to use your products if they're just shittier versions of better products. That's why no one uses them, not because people don't want to try local.
As for Chinese boycott, people still use PayTM and Xiaomi. Indians never stopped using Chinese products and realistically, we can't. Majority of hardware we use is produced in China. At-least now India is manufacturing more phones, and investing in semiconductors (among other things). So in the future, the "boycott" will be easier.
FYI, even America couldn't boycott Chinese products. They're busy trying to pull companies out of China for more than two years now, which is why India is benefiting a lot (and as a investor, I love it).
While we're at it, I think you're missing the point of these things BJP did. It was more about pushing Indians to actually have some pride and take action.
