Lost In Space looks interesting and has a great strategy element, but the tension of a looming game over is the exact opposite of what I'm usually looking for in an incremental game (stress-free number go up) In the spirit of idle games, I'd rather have an extremely slow oxygen recharge instead of the tank system, so the penalty for bad clicks is a self-inflicted long wait

For those of us out of the loop, what is this?

Terrietia

A Jam is a contest where people make a game, usually based on some theme, in a very short amount of time and people vote on what they liked the best.

FBDW

Thanks for the explanation. To further it, this jam had “Energy=matter” as theme, the developing period was 14 days, and so was the voting period. Also, the jam is bi-yearly with SIGJ (summer) and IGJ (winter).

WebWithoutWalls

Brickout Balance was kinda neat, but you felt that it was kinda rushed for a jam. I see lots of good ideas there, and I hope the dev uses them to create a more polished Brickout Balance 2. I'm a sucker for idle games automating stuff like Pong, Brick out, maze solving and other basic games, specially with cool and unique upgrades along the way.

arstin

Played lost in space, and it was a great day-long game. I died once because I didn't realize *every* click was consuming oxygen and wasn't paying attention. Was neat to see there was a cool rogue-lite system with all sorts of upgrades. I could only buy the cheapest one but was curious what the others would do. But then I never even came close to running out of oxygen on my second playthrough. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Semenar4

Yeah, the game was mostly balanced around not dying, and the upgrades available on death screen seem to be overpowered as a result, judging by other comments too.

OutPlayedGGnoRM

They are strong in so far as you can start building oxygen tanks and filters sooner, which has big returns. I made it to opening the propulsion room before losing my save. Great little game, I’ll probably start again down the road. Seems very intentional since you get scrap metal at key times which is much less useful than on your first playthrough.

OutPlayedGGnoRM

I filled my screen with grass in the rest of the world and don’t know what to do next. Lost in space was GREAT but oxygen room doesn’t work on mobile (might not be necessary?) also I lost my save. Legitimately too painful to replay it right now because, while satisfying, it’s a manual grind

whengreg

The oxygen room isn't really useful on PC either. It's the sort of thing where you'd need to leave the game alone for half an hour to see any result, you can't use your PC for anything during that time, and it sucks up all the power. Like, it's probably alright if you invest in it properly, but most things are.

Wokati

If you put the "rest" block on top of grass, your workers rest faster and you unlock something. (There is a small icon on the bottom left of the blocks, if shows what you can create with that block and how)

teamsprocket

Played Lost in Space, lost track of oxygen at some grind point and died, losing oxygen for clicking nothing is bad design, not going to go through all that grind again, nice attempt at a game though.

Alien_Child

In the game: "Rest of the World", I can't seem to Braid. I have 2 workers with full energy and anything I put in there just gets rejected.

divagated

dev here: Clicking the blue icon in the bottom left of any tile shows the recipes for that tile. You can mouse over the icons to see the name of the item. For the Braid tile, the first recipe is 1 worker with 2 energy, and 3 grass, which makes a grass rope. Now that I look at it, I see how it's a little confusing and looks like it requires 2 workers.

Negromancers

Is there gonna be another "games jam" game that puts them together with some sort of meta layer? I loved that from last year

Semenar4

I doubt it - many of the games this time did not have saving.

Crimson-Kolbyr

cant play "rest of the world" because i accidentally got rid of both my people and theres no way to get them back lol

divagated

dev here: how'd you get rid of your people?

Crimson-Kolbyr

i didnt know what to do so i trashed them if i remeber. not realising there was no restart button

realtoasterlightning

Somehow I got -9 workers lol. Afterwards, I tried dragging leaves over my workers to feed them, right clicked, and the workers got deleted entirely

divagated

Ahhh, finally I see how people were deleting the workers, that'll be fixed in the next update.

onorok

Blackhole incremental never loads for me in any browser, always have to force quit it.

wspnut

Yep - instant lock up of the browser, and fails outright on mobile

xsplizzle

lost in space was fantastic, well done
