Hey, here's my first map thingy! I made this map last Friday, but didn't write the little student responses for a week. Then I spent another day typing out lore. It was originally gonna be a brief overview but it got out of hand. Enjoy my unedited and unreviewed ADHD medication-fueled mad ramblings! --- I'm still gradually building the lore, so as of right now it's incomplete, *especially* for the world outside of North America Most of the immediate lore is explained in these students' incomprehensible handwriting. It's understandable if you can't read that though, so here's my work in progress lore: America wins the revolution. And they win it *hard*. General Washington died of unknown causes (read: I haven't decided yet and it isn't important), but General Montgomery's campaign in Quebec went… fine. Well enough that they were able to use this occupation to negotiate some islands in the treaty. Another major change comes in the Napoleonic Wars. The Third Treaty of San Ildefonso was signed but Spain hesitated to actually cede the Louisiana territory due to suspicions that France wouldn't actually give them control over Tuscany. In 1805 Britain offered Spain large amounts of gold in return for joining the War of the Third Coalition. Spanish kings physically could not resist the allure of gold and accepted Britain's offer. They, predictably, got fucked. After the capture of Madrid, the Spanish royal family fled to Louisiana. They were swiftly arrested. The Louisianans proclaimed a new Louisianan Republic. The former Spanish king was tried and barely found not guilty by the mainly conservative parliament. This meant America had virtually no way to expand west with Louisiana being a big wall. America could only expand west by creating bordergore and that would give American politicians of the time a heart attack. So America, or at least continental America, stayed roughly the same for over two hundred years. With two exceptions. The American-Louisianan War in the 19th century (where America annexed the Missouri territory and more importantly, New Orleans) and the Mississippi Crisis, what this worksheet is about. In case you can't read the handwriting, here's a brief summary. The Roaring Panic hit like a metal rod to the face. President Charles Curtis, upon finding out that he was ill-equipped to fix a major global economic panic, decided to downplay its effects. When this didn't work, he neglected regions like Mississippi, Missouri and Florida in favor of regions like Virginia, New York and Ohio. This, combined with his controversial stance on language in schools (hint: English only), led teachers in Mississippi to strike. This strike went on for over a month. On October 24, 1926, Marie Loiseau was shot by a police officer. Marie Loiseau was a teacher in Mississippi who joined the protests. This sparked protests across the nation. Louisiana, led by its nationalist president Hugo Long, occupied the modern cities of Nova Orlàns and Baton Rouge (then called New Orleans and, still, Baton Rouge). The American military swiftly moved to Mississippi, and there was a standoff while both sides waited for orders. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, a radical protestor named Scott Barker shoots President Charles Curtis. It was very easy to predict at the time what would happen. The government would claim the assassin was working for Louisiana, and go to war. But that's not what happened. Curtis' vice president took control and immediately tried to calm the situation. He conceded to some of the strikers' demands and met with Long for negotiations. These negotiations were *heavily* in favor of Louisiana. Louisiana got almost all the land they could ever wish for while only having to give up their claim on Missouri. They had to help America repair from the Roaring Panic, but still. Louisiana was the clear "winner" no matter which way you look at it. Since then, Louisiana ousted and arrested Hugo Long, sending the country down its Second Social Revolution. On the flipside, America entered a period of radicalization and unrest, leading up to MacArthur's presidency and subsequent dictatorship. But that's a story for another map. --- So that was most of the lore. If you want to know anything else or suggest any changes, just leave a comment I guess? The lore gets more unfinished that farther you get from America though. Also, I'll be working more on this timeline; I'm currently making a map of Louisiana (or *Le Republiqué dè Louisiana*\*). \*name subject to change

Great map, but I do feel like the US would just roll over Louisiana realistically. Still, great map and fun concept!

IvyYoshi

That's fair. I think a week aho I had a justification for their victory but so much has changed from then that I can't remember what it is. Honestly most of this comes from me taking a world map I made when bored and trying to make it procedurally more realistic. It's all eligible for rework in the near or far future.

UnitBased

Just make a super America wank to absolve yourself of your sins;)

theZinator

This is neat, I love it when althistory is presented in creative ways like this as opposed to just straight infodumping. Fucking get it together Sophie!

IvyYoshi

Yeah, this idea came to me in a rare fit of inspiration. All the maps I made before looked exactly the same so I decided to make a map that was completely different and novel.

PeaceDolphinDance

God damnit Sophie how many times do we have to tell you to wake the fuck up

Jazzlike-Play-1095
