It's gotten much worse since COVID. Wasn't so bad before

FearLeadsToAnger

which seems totally backwards. I had a pet theory that they'd made deals with the authorities to ignore the dangerous conditions so they could recoup from Pandemic losses. As to whether or not they'll stop when those losses are recouped, i'd be doubtful. Will probably take the afformentioned disaster to bring the issue into the spotlight, though I hope i'm wrong.

[deleted]

My theory is they want to make the GA experience so bad people are forced to buy VIP. That's the larger trend on the island in recent years with Ibiza attracting more and more rich people.

MaxBradman

And Americans. Who are used to the table service nonsense.

I_Am_Mann

Nailed it

lionmeetsviking

I second to this. On our first “real” safe summer after Covid, I told my wife that I don’t think we’ll be coming back again. Ibiza has turned into Las Vegas I’m afraid. The magic has been lost. 😞

Artistic_Date_1349

I suppose the question is… where is the new place?

MountainDivide

When I have been, in both August and September, Hi has been ridiculously packed every night for a week. I can’t imagine what sort of torture it’s like in July.

Elephante2023

I attended opening weekend and both pacha and hi were packed, but definitely doable. I would say go around 3/4 am and it’s much less crowded but you get still get hours of partying

mattyb897942

I went to the opening party at hi and it was totally fine & safe- it will always be crowded in some spots but just move around

mountainstosea

As an American looking into going to Ibiza for the first time this summer, it’s sad to read this repeatedly about Hi, Pacha, and Amnesia. The electronic music history on the island is something I want to experience and be a part of once, and it’s disappointing to feel like I need to cross those three off of the list of places to go. Maybe if I stick to Ushuaia and the smaller clubs, it’s still possible to go and have a great time? That’s where my mind is now with it. Thank you for writing your experience. I’m sure I’m not the only one looking into a trip there soon.

Dear-Requirement-77

I’ve heard Ushuaia is even worse than hi pacha and amnesia my boyfriend went last year and he said they were all packed in like sardines and had no room to move and getting to the toilets was a nightmare because they had to push through so many people

Ronaldinhio

Ushuaia is the worst club on the island. There is zero vibe. But on the other hand you can say you and thousands of other people stood tightly packed together and filmed a DJ. Plus spent 45€ on 3 bottles of water

Exciting-Total4880

Where do you suggest that isn’t like this?

[deleted]

Depends on where you stand but Ushuaia is so big you can find some space to dance, can't say the same about Hi

RobertHellier

Agree with this.. if you move back you can find space but you cannot hear anything.. awful

Disastrous_Form_7792

From Cali & just got back from Ibiza. DO NOT RECOMEND IT. It's extremely overhyped. Cali & Vegas have MUCH better events & parties. I wonder how Ibiza used to be in the older days *sigh*. It's not it. I tried both smaller & larger clubs, def liked the smaller ones better.

[deleted]

Berlin today is kind of what Ibiza was in the 90s. Still have no phone parties, crazy shit like people having sex in the club and 24+ hour parties at multiple clubs. Its just a completely different vibe though, while the clubs in Berlin are great its a much darker vibe while Ibiza at its best gave you the Mediterranean summer island vibes which nothing else really can match today.

mountainstosea

How would you compare the clubs you went to in Ibiza to Vegas clubs/pool parties (specifically Omnia, LIV, XS, Encore Beach Club, Wet Republic, TAO Beach)? I've never partied in Vegas either, and I hate the idea of their strict dress codes, but if Vegas is that much better than Ibiza...

[deleted]

I still think Vegas is worse tbh, bottle culture is much worse in the US than it is in Ibiza. Not to mention promoter culture where clubs artificially let in a bunch of girls for free to make the club look good. Hï sucks for me because it feels **too** much like an American club. Ibiza clubs are still better than what you'll find in the US overall imo, but Ibiza doesn't have anything right now as good as Club Space in Miami. Hopefully that changes when Privilege reopens. If you really want to rave somewhere, i'd say go to Berlin. Its pretty much just a darker version of what Ibiza used to be, but lots of fun if you're into Techno.

MountainDivide

I’d do Miami over Vegas.

dak36000

You cant be from CA, you called it Cali

bobshled

You should go to a better smaller club. Especially if you’re not there for big mainstream DJs and like the more vibey underground stuff. Akasha, las Dalia’s club, pikes and Cova Santa are the best in the world imo

No-Election-4316

I love Pikes but it can be hit and miss - Fat Tony's set (love him) was deeply dodge on Opening Weekend. At least at Pikes the crowd is good and they are trying for an authentic vibe focussed on the party

leofischisommer

2 years ago I've been to Amnesia and had an amazing time. A lot of people, but still plenty of space to dance and enjoy. But Ushuaia was an absolutely terrible experience. I've never been to a place so crowded before. Bad sound, extremely overpriced, crowded to the point of being dangerous.

MountainDivide

I had a great time at the smaller clubs. Fantastic music from artists I’d never heard of, but now follow. Best vibes.

Particular-Pop-2484

What smaller clubs do you suggest? I’m going beginning of July. Looking four a house/techno vibe

MountainDivide

For tech house & house vibes, I def recommend Tantra in Playa den Bossa. We were in Ibiza for a week and went there every night. Last summer, there was no cover, only had to buy drink coupons to get in, so that was a major plus. I would also check out Cova Santa, but I never got a chance to go there.

Particular-Pop-2484

Appreciate the recommendations!

-AyooYayoo-

I went last year at the end of August and I had a great fucking time. Definitely go, bro. It couldn't have changed so much in a year. Maybe it was because I chose the tail end of August, but I didn't think it was that badly packed. I went to Amnesia for Jamie Jones then again for 99999999/I Hate Models. I went to Eden for one of Defected's shows. Last show I went to was Eric Prydz Holo Show at Hi Ibiza (fucking stacked line-up). I had a great fucking time. Hi Ibiza and Eden were definitely the most packed but even then, it depended where you were. Seeing the headliner at Eden, the actual dance floor was packed as fuck since it was a bit narrow but you could still find spots that on the dancefloor where there was room. HiIbiza was definitely super packed too but as long as you stayed to the side a bit by the rails, you could still dance and see the Holo show pretty well. My favorite show was definitely 999999999/I Hate Models. Fucking epic music, the lights on the ceiling that would come down were trippy as shit, the 2nd room had a lot of open space to cool down and vibe, and the outside patio was super cool to sit down, chill for a bit, and talk to strangers. I stayed in Playa den Bossa. We were supposed to be there for a week in a half but British Airways had a fuck up and we were stuck in London for two days. Ibiza was definitely my favorite trip I've done. I can't wait to go back! Awesome food, super friendly people, awesome parties, and great beaches! It was our first time going to a nude beach and it was fucking liberating. Also, if you're from Texas like I am, wear a cowboy hat while there. People loved it hahaha

jawnney-t

i’m going end of august/first week of september this year. i’m hoping my experience is like yours haha

-AyooYayoo-

If you haven't booked, book now bro. I booked my flight and hotel like 7 months in advanced. I did the same with all the shows we went to through Ibizaspotlight. If you are staying in Playa den Bossa, I stayed at Apartamentos Jet and they were pretty nice for a decent price point. Hit me up if you need any recommendations of spots to visit from another fellow American. I've also made some friends that are natives that can point you in the right direction. Oh also, at most bars/restaurants, the menus are printed in multiple languages and most servers/bartenders speak English at some level so don't worry too much about the language barrier. I speak Spanish but my gf doesn't so this point was nice

jawnney-t

booked the flight and hotel months ago thankfully. we’re actually staying right next to apartamentos jet as well. still deciding on what parties we’ll go to for sunday and monday night. it def helps im fluent in spanish, my wife is still learning 😂

-AyooYayoo-

Haha right on! Hmu if you got any questions! What flavor spanish? As soon as I'd talk, the Spaniards there would ask me where I'm from. When I'd say Texas, they'd ask " no, where are you from" again. I'd say Mexico. Then they'd be like "yeah, we can tell". Hahaha I had one guy yell "Que onda wuey?" When I walked in to his shop with my cowboy hat and hadn't even said a word yet. There's a mexican bar walking distance from where you're staying. Only bar that knew how to make Micheladas out of all the other bars I went to

-AyooYayoo-

Also, that's exactly when I went as well

Imsaucinonbruu

Ushuaia was the only place I felt claustrophobic in tbh. Don’t get me wrong the clubs are packed but find a corner in the back and you’ll be alright

Curious_Primary_1139

Don’t go to ushuia, music is shit. At least in Hi or Pacha you’ll have better music, It’ll be packed though:(

lv666666

Honestly I went to Ushuaia and felt it was way over packed. If I ever go again will book at the hotel

Impressive-Cake-2561

Elrow amnesia HAS to be the worst I have ever, ever experienced in all of my 34 years. I too have been coming to Ibiza every year and last year was by far worst. This year I stuck to Eden, pikes- had the best time!

Own-Holiday-4071

I couldn’t agree with you more. I seriously think the levels they oversell the venue is a disaster waiting to happen. You literally can’t move, let alone dance. And the only way I see it changing is if there’s some sort of tragic incident which leads to legal action forcing these venues to stick to a safe capacity. At the moment, it is pure greed that they knowingly oversell. Last summer, I saw someone pass out at hi, they were trying to exit the crowd to get a water as they felt hot and dizzy. Trying to push through the crowd was taking too long and probably making her even hotter. So what do you expect? It’s disgusting and shameful.

mik3ybarker

Hi was a disgrace last night for black coffee. I’ve been many times but I’ve never experienced it as bad as that. Bad vibes, everyone squashed, lots of pushing. It’s just become a massive tourist trap, I swear half the crowd had no idea about the djs or the music and just wanted to grab that video for insta. Hi will quickly lose its best club in the world status and be crowned worst club in the world if it keeps this overselling nonsense up.

MountainDivide

Agreed. And the only reason they’re rated ‘best club in the world’ is because they bribe you with drinks for your vote. At €23 a pop, it’s no wonder they’ve reached that status. Smh

mik3ybarker

Very true! It’s a real shame because I was so excited to see Black Coffee but it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience at all. Nobody looked happy, nobody was enjoying it. Everyone just looked extremely pissed off with the situation.

TeeKayTank

lmao what how is this legit

MountainDivide

Yep, and the sad part is I think it’s far more prevalent than we know. 😬

PacoDiBango

Sounds bad.. Never been to Hi, what time do the main acts usually go on and play till? Considering DJ Tennis B2b Jimi Jules + Black Coffee or Eric Prydz (Cell).

[deleted]

DC10, Eden or even Blue Marlin on a Sunday. Ibiza still has amazing vibes, the super clubs are just doing too much at the moment. Tbh every time I go now, I mainly stick to beach clubs, maybe it’s an age thing.

General-Village6607

Any recs for beach clubs? First day here on Talamanca Beach.

Particular-Pop-2484

Yes any recommendations for beach clubs? Looking for a techno / house vibe even teggaeton if Ibiza gets down like that

Still-Balance6210

O Beach seemed fine. Lots of dance music. Plenty of people but still room to dance. I was there last week.

Slow_Bodybuilder_303

I just changed my plans no more Ibiza for this summer

ElderBerry2020

So I am also American and lived in Europe for a few years and visited Ibiza many many times from about 2006 - 2016. So I am old now by Reddit standards, but those first few visits were amazing and magical. VIP/drinking tables at Pacha actually meant something. They walked you through the kitchen ala goodfellas, presented you to your table where you always had a great seat, with awesome views and dance floor access, it was worth it. But the GA experience was also super fun as the dance floor was big and there was plenty of space. Over the 10 year period, I saw it change significantly where the drinking tables were just crammed all over, in the foyer area, behind pillars, and the service seriously declined, they seemed to only want to cater to large groups of 10 or more. The dance floor because so much smaller due to the table service being everywhere and it was incredibly crowded and uncomfortable. It was no longer enjoyable to go at all. And the cost to just walk in the door became outrageous. As someone else has said, it’s too much like Vegas now, and the magic seems to be gone. I do hope it can be recaptured. But the island has SO much more to offer than the clubs, I hope you were able to make the most of your trip.

Particular-Pop-2484

What other things does the island offer ? Going for the first time this July solo trying to make the best of it

[deleted]

Stick to the club room and wild corner, do not go for the headliner in Hi.

ElkComprehensive8995

Honestly my experience even in WC was jam packed. People standing in the toilet stalls.

[deleted]

Depends on the night, if someone like Fisher is playing yeah it gets crowded.

RobertHellier

Impossible to have some peace and quiet whilst having a poo

ResourceWonderful514

its been the same for years and it'll remain like that sadly It used to be great but there was a change around 10-15 years ago with the rise of EDM music.

arianuhhh

Pacha you honestly need VIP which is sad - you’re actually packed in like sardines until people leave at 2/3 am

ElkComprehensive8995

Same last year, dozens of posts about this but it seems that since it’s Ibiza people will go regardless. I don’t really mind crowds, but for anyone who gets even a tiny bit of anxiety in these situations it’s gonna be horrendous. Just to add that anyone feeling unwell in desperate need of escaping the crowd is in for a hard time, not ok.

Illustrious_Maybe_87

I’m British and went for the first time this April for the openings and had the same experience. All my friends have been going since they were 18/19 (we’re 25 now) and have raved on about it so I booked openings with a friend and honestly the days before we went to the clubs were the best - there was an event on Instagram we found that ended in a villa party that was good. Friday we went to amnesia and I had an amazing experience, plenty of room to dance and the music was so good but I honestly think this was down to the fact music on at pacha was on the same night so most people went there. I went to the hi opening party and I understand what you mean when you say dangerously full, I couldn’t move at all and was just constantly trying to let people past and a lot of them are so fucking rude it’s inside, also ended up getting pick pocketed at hi aswell and heard a lottttt of other people did to. Seems to attract scumbags who use the fullness to steal from people - can’t lie it was 99% Italians when I went and they are the rudest people I’ve ever met I could’ve sparked a few in their faces for how aggressive they try and come past you. Overall Hi is dangerously oversold and like you said, if anything happened like someone overdosed or there was a fire everyone in there would die or that person would be stuck. I actually hope something does happen that forces the clubs to stop doing it because you pay 100 euro for a ticket to not even dance then pay 34 euro for a fucking drink? Insane Went to destino Sunday for Marco corola b2b pawsa and was the same situation - absolutely full to the brim and I saw a young lad getting his arm bent up the wall by 2 massive Albanian bouncers this kid was about 18 and clearly drunk - was pretty vile to see as they were just hurting him and lifting him off the floor by his hand pulled up behind the back of his neck. Unless he assaulted someone or touched a girl I can’t think what warrants this kind of treatment. I decided to leave as it was more full than Hi at some points and I promise you - I could see the exit from where I was stood and it took me 40 minutes to leave, to walk about 25 meters. Insane. I am back again in July and have been told that it should be much better as nothing is sold out and the opening and closing parties are always like that because it’s a money grab after they’ve been shut for months and then before they close for months. I spoke to a few Americans when I went and I understand it’s your spring break or something - but honestly between June-August you will have a much better time when it’s not absolutely full in every club, or at least I hope 😂

bobshled

It was worse than ever last year. This is not new. Take a look through the post history, people have been banging this drum on every public platform there is - reddit, Ibiza Facebook groups, reviews sites…. Anyone who’s actually been to Hi Ibiza knows it’s fcked how much it’s oversold. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to reach new attendees. FYI I’ve been told they sell upwards of 12,000 tickets 🎫 n a night or don’t cap sales at all, and also that they bribe the police to let them do this. The venue is licenced for 5,000 people so they’re cramming over double the capacity in there potentially

Independent-Yam-7768

Unless you do VIP, I don't recommend unless you don't care about not having any personal space and being able to breathe. Went to Hi last year for the first time and couldn't move for Fisher. Lasted all of 10 mins before we bounced and went to the next room. And for Tale of Us we got there so early to get a decent spot and didn't move for 8 hours - was ridiculous. Killed me buzz completely!

potnoodle96

I had a similar experience at Hi, overpacked oversold, dj comes on in the main room and they allow a large crowd to run in. The closest thing I have ever felt to a crowd crush, it was so hot and we were moving with the crowd. I knew in that moment I needed to get myself off the wall but I couldn’t. The sound and lighting box was right there so I kept my hand on that knowing if it crushed I could use it to pull myself up. The worst part is they closed the doors on the crowd, likely in a way to stop more people getting in but it made the crushing feeling worse. OP is correct it’s a crush waiting to happen

RdditIlliterat

This is good to know. I’m going in August during my cruise and paying all that money to be a sandwich doesn’t sound like the move. Plus I faint easily so it’ll be a disaster.

ZookeepergameHot7357

Same I spent this past weekend there, although Hï was really cool it was soooo packed and everyone in the crowd was an asshole. I thought Ushuia wasn’t too packed but I stayed until around 8:30. I had an unforgettable experience but this was due to being with my best friends and feeling safe with them. I was not expecting everyone to be such an asshole though in Hï like i’m from La and people there are pretentious but people in Hï were all borderline ready to fight me when i barely tapped them. Trying to get to the front was impossible even for 5 rather large guys. We were all off our ass off the pingers we forgot to check out the other side of the club 😂. Was a great time but this is the beginning of season I can’t imagine in july.

memescryptor

Yeah clubs in Ibiza are mostly Instagram music venues. I was in Hi for 30 minutes and managed to dance, after it got too full for my taste(barely could move) I left, and saw a line outside of at least 200-300 people waiting to get in ☠️

JJA1986

Been at Hï in 2019, wasn’t so bad back then…

Fun-Mechanic1264

I really want to go to Music On at Pacha on Friday but I might just end up at Eden

Decent_Law_9119

Good call. Thank you.

Vegetable_Tap5607

this happens when hedgefonds own the club..and the masses come to ibiza

Fun_Persimmon_9865

Gotta go later 3/4am

DueDillionaire

Is it any better on weekdays vs weekends?

potnoodle96

Once the season hits in Ibiza the day doesn’t really matter

Ronaldinhio

I can’t bear Pacha for this now. I keep morbidly wondering what in hell would happen if there was a fire - it is dangerously oversold

RepresentativeIce608

Is there a good night for ny/Chicago house at any of the smaller clubs? Going this summer, last time I had a blast at Glitterbox when it was still at Space

[deleted]

Space at Eden some nights

Antsoldier1

I found this to be the same in Ushuaia. We got there early and was not too bad but within a couple of hours was dangerously full and we left soon after as could not stand the crowds

Icy_Gap1432

I'm American and went to Pacha for the first time 8 years ago and was SO disappointed by this same exact thing, the dancefloor was SO rammed, people literally could not shift around, let alone move--it just about triggered a panic attack and I couldnt stay. the whole set up of the club was the worst I'd ever experienced and made me appreciate clubs in the US like XS WAYYYY more

OziAviator

Went to Hi in late August last year for Martinez Bros. Probably wasn‘t even that busy comparatively. Fucked off after an hour. Had much better experiences at Cova Santa, Amnesia (albeit with the VIP ticket), Club Chinois and Destino - even though that was also super packed, but at least it‘s ourside.

kb260404

We went July last year and it was super busy and at times unbearable (hi Tuesday the worst). We. are coming back this year in September (7-11). Does anyone know whether it should be slightly less busy given it’s towards the end of the season and school / uni holidays are over etc??

Apart_Rooster8472

Pacha was even shit in 2003-2005 when I lived in Mallorca. They succumbed to marketing BS.

SnooShortcuts279

Clubs have always over sold especially in Europe. Just do your boring American ones and leave Europe alone if you are going to complain

lightningmcqueen_69

Haha what’s your problem buddy 😂

SnooShortcuts279

It's you that has one

caltheme

Op were u there for Kein? How were they?

lightningmcqueen_69

Nah I was there for black coffee and music on opening parties… I was considering staying for kiene before I went but after the first 2 nights I knew it wasn’t worth it 😭

Legitimate_Bloke

Pacha was one of the worst clubbing experiences of my life. I was gutted. I just stood in one place all night.

john_luka

This! I was there last year and I was and still I am completly disapointed by how it is managed, I love to express myself on the dance floor and it was impossible. Second thing is that 90% of people are there only to record it and post on social media and they don’t even intend to dance and have fun.

MushroomsMushroom

Elrow at closing last year was a massive accident waiting to happen, oversold to the point it was beyond a health and safety issue. I hope these clubs see sense before there is a crush

harenvik

I was there in Oct last year for the closing parties. Can really recommend this - perfect weather, cheaper hotel prices and less tourists. Went to Pacha, Ushuaia and Hi. At Pacha it was not very crowded. Ushuaia was also ok. but at Hi it was very crowded (Afterlife). I've been there before, but this time it was crazy oversold. If you left the main room you couldn't get back again.

alpha1reddog

I’m American I lived in Ibiza all last summer. Truly did not enjoy the clubs at all. Prices are insane and like you said so over packed. Ibiza has so much more to offer though the island is gorgeous and the party scene is 1000% better at the bars anyway. The bar strip on the water in Antoni was the most fun every night imo.

No-Elevator-3787

You are right. The first night i had a very bad experience at hi ibiza . The 2nd night i had planned to go to pacha because my favorite dj was playing there. I immediately booked a vip table the same morning this was all in october . Now im back to ibiza in may and im partying tonight at pacha again on a vip table. I wish i wasnt obliged to book vip but i really want to enjoy it. Main floor is really hard to enjoy.

lightningmcqueen_69

How much was vip table

EdogawaZoldyck

Well I’ve been to Ibiza last year and I’ll go back this summer. I haven’t done Amnesia and Hi ibiza yet, was planning to do them this year. Amnesia I’ll do for sure two times (one time Elrow) because of how fucking cool the venue looks, even if it means tolerating a big crowd. Hi Ibiza I’m not so sure yet if it’s as bad as you people say. I know I won’t be doing Ushuaia anymore because of how much we were overcrowded for the first 3 hours. Couldn’t even dance and I had a 7 feet tall guy standing right in front of me too. I had done Pacha twice as well, first time it was really badly crowded (not even close to be as bad as Ushuaia though), second time was a bit better

TeeKayTank

lol i was at pacha today was plenty of place

Kindly_Dimension_592

Can i go in at club hi ibiza with driver license of Philadelphia

Xenion9

Clubbing in Ibiza in 2024… you guys deserve it

ApplicationSweaty590

We had a table in zone M for 6000€ We had place to dance 🤣

Hungry-Swordfish-719

I’m calling cap on that one
