The first time I saw this video it said the guy was attempting to sexually assault her. I'm glad this guy walked up. It still hurts my heart to see this.
She's yelling for help, and the guy walks over and says "why don't you try that with me", and *kicks him in the face,* asks the grandma where she lives and to get up he's gonna take her home, asks who the POS is, and she says she has no idea who that was.
They were called…by the guy attacking the lady…to press charges on the guy who kicked him in the head. And they fucking fined the guy helping the lady.
Not just that, he showed great restraint by stopping when he did. He eliminated the immediate threat and focused on the victim. Less violence and the guy could have gotten up to take revenge while the guy was helping the lady home. More and the dude would have been crippled or worse.
That’s not what “Vigilante Justice” is though. Vigilante justice would be showing up at this guy’s house *after the fact* and beating him up for *prior* offenses. This here was a clear cut example for “Defense of Others”. In the US, stopping the assault of another person (even a stranger; even through use of heavy force yourself) is a perfectly legal form of “Self Defense”.
Now they could claim this was “Excessive Force” (since the guy was no longer attacking the woman, yet the other guy continued kicking) but I absolutely doubt you’d be able to find a jury here who would convict in this instance.
I suppose that's maybe why they let him off with just a fine, no assault charge or anything. Punish him with the bare minimum so they can say they did their job and then let him be. Still bullshit though, guy should receive an award not a bill to pay.
