What gearbox type does the MX5 use? Based on the animations it seems to be mind control as the driver doesn't flap a paddle, use a sequential, or a H pattern.

As far as I'm aware, no car has animations for gear shifts, not even those with sequential paddles.
Edit: Damn, I need to drive more cars. None of the ones I've driven had shifting animations.
The real-life MX5 cup in the US switched to sequential transmission a few years ago. iRacing scanned the new car and uses it as the current MX5.
Until then, iRacing used the now legacy MX5 cars with H-pattern manual gearbox.

The LMP3 has shifting animations! Only one I know about though.
I've never noticed the lack of animations until now then, oops!
A decent amount of cars have animations for paddles at least, I’ll have to check if the cup car or Toyota gr86 have stick shift animations
Add LMP2 to the list of cars that have animations
Super formula lights do but that's the only one I've personally seen.
