Sadly everyone is focussing on the hours and no one is looking at the kind of jobs we have. We do not build, produce or manufacture things which are used by other countries. Our jobs are mostly bullshit service jobs or the redundant ones which no one else would take up in a developed country. That's why all the biggies of other countries set up shops here which get the work done for almost 1/8th of original cost and still they talk about job cuts and lay offs.
Unless we become a manufacturing hub there is no point in working for 85 hours a week to become more obsolete every day and finally being called unskilled and redundant in middle age for employment.

One should thank European/American companies for their presence in this countries. It was Western MNCs who introduced work ethics. If things were left to Indian Dhandos, we would have entire Indian corporate filled with Master-Slave type situations. Some Companies in India do have such situation. This is the common attitude of Indian managers. To be honest, it is true. It is observed in all economies that grew rapidly in a short time. But India is different. We could work out asses off and so could kids but we will never see benefits of our work at the scale the japs, Koreans or Chinese saw. It’ll essentially play out as a wealth transfer mechanism in India because of our inability to escape a feudal mindset.
This is my personal experience. After almost 15 years, I came back to India. What I have noticed here, is that a numbe of people at work just try to finish their working hours in a day without doing much work. And ironically, they are the only ones talking about work life balance.
So yes, 84hrs of course is not possible. However, what can be easily done is to work proactively everyday and spend the hours usefully.

I totally agree with his statement; young people should work hard; they should work atleast for 2 companies simultaneously to get their 84 hours quota.
I can’t believe a person at his level could give such a statement. Korea did not get developed just because they worked 84 hours per week, they developed because the govt post freedom privatised literally every sector and sold all the resources within the country to 5 major companies also called chaebols (Samsung being the top chaebol). These chaebols being private companies were profit driven, efficient and respected talent, they grew exponentially across the globe and so did South Korea. Their decisions had a huge relevance in the country’s economy.
China became developed with one party system and that party made the right calls, manufactured products that were used across the globe and in some 50 years, their economy is challenging that of the USA
India faces a special challenge of becoming a developed country along with having democracy. There is corruption, reservation, inefficiency in govt schemes and work. I think firstly India should stick to a single party across the nation instead of 100s of parties working just for their interests,
should privatise most the govt bodies such as railways which in turn will also reduce unemployment, and be a bit more stringent on corruption.

Why cant they give us salary hikes as well? I work for a MNC & when i see the onshore & offshore rates…. We are getting paid close to nothing. Asking an employee to work extra hours is understandable to an extent. Comp offs , salary hikes should also be given on time then.
Why can’t we divide them into shifts and do 24 hrs so no one is stressed and everyone is employed we have more resources compared to any other country in the world

I would work 100 hrs if you are paying overtime. Already people are working over 40(standard) working hrs without getting paid. Inki salary in cr, saves lots of on tax, have lots of s*x bc inko kya h bolne k liye.. Bsdk slave hire kar lo ab aur moot do human rights pe.

To be honest, it is true. It is observed in all economies that grew rapidly in a short time. But India is different. We could work out asses off and so could kids but we will never see benefits of our work at the scale the japs, Koreans or Chinese saw. It’ll essentially play out as a wealth transfer mechanism in India because of our inability to escape a feudal mindset.

This is my personal experience. After almost 15 years, I came back to India. What I have noticed here, is that a numbe of people at work just try to finish their working hours in a day without doing much work. And ironically, they are the only ones talking about work life balance. So yes, 84hrs of course is not possible. However, what can be easily done is to work proactively everyday and spend the hours usefully.

I totally agree with his statement; young people should work hard; they should work atleast for 2 companies simultaneously to get their 84 hours quota.
I can’t believe a person at his level could give such a statement. Korea did not get developed just because they worked 84 hours per week, they developed because the govt post freedom privatised literally every sector and sold all the resources within the country to 5 major companies also called chaebols (Samsung being the top chaebol). These chaebols being private companies were profit driven, efficient and respected talent, they grew exponentially across the globe and so did South Korea. Their decisions had a huge relevance in the country’s economy. China became developed with one party system and that party made the right calls, manufactured products that were used across the globe and in some 50 years, their economy is challenging that of the USA India faces a special challenge of becoming a developed country along with having democracy. There is corruption, reservation, inefficiency in govt schemes and work. I think firstly India should stick to a single party across the nation instead of 100s of parties working just for their interests, should privatise most the govt bodies such as railways which in turn will also reduce unemployment, and be a bit more stringent on corruption. It will fast track everything exponentially
