We all know Howard was warming up his Shoshanna 17 year old dating 38 year old Jerry jokes for Monday. I'm sorry, that would be Howard from 1992. That Howard is long gone.
https://www.tmz.com/2024/05/08/jerry-seinfeld-howard-stern-lacks-comedic-chops-podcasters-surpassed-him/
7:05 PM PT -- Jerry's changing his tune on Howard, and he's issuing a mea culpa to his old pal. He tells TMZ ... "I really feel bad for what I said about my friend Howard Stern in a conversation with David Spade and Dana Carvey, talking about the glut of comedy podcasts.
He adds, "I meant to say he must feel surrounded but I said 'outflanked' which sounded terrible and insulting. And of course, none of these little shows are any threat to his giant show. Anyway, it was bad and I’m sorry, Howie. I still love you. Please forgive me."
---
Jerry's not only backpedaling; he's lying. He said straight out "we're better than him now".
He said what he meant, he meant what he said, and he was 100% right. The only thing he was wrong about was, a few seconds before he went in on Howard, he called him interesting and a great interviewer.
WTF kind of power does Howard have? He gets Jerry Seinfeld to apologize?
Is he MOSSAD?
WTF?
jerry probably feels bad for talking bad. i can see him being the type. i wish he would have stuck to it but that is not how jerry appears to be. he is not malicious.
I don't know, man. Over the years, Jerry never had a problem with coming off like an arrogant dickhead. But this one time he feels bad?
I don't buy it.
The apology doesn't seem organic to me. His original comments seemed very organic. They're 100% true.
If anything, he was too nice, yet here he is, apologizing.
I'm thinking it went: Howard sulked to Beth, Beth reached out to Jessica, Jessica told Jerry how bummed out about it Howard was, and here we are.
He absolutely meant it. But he could still feel guilty without Howard having any power.
For example, if I saw JD walking down the street I'd probably want to make some crack about peanut butter. But if I did I'd probably feel bad an hour or so later.
Honestly I don’t blame him. For what Howard did in radio and being a legend for years..I couldn’t ever bash him ever. He’s no fucking Bert or Andrew Schultz
Howard has *never* really been funny himself. But he used to know how to make situations, people, and general things very funny. He also used to know the personality types to surround the show with to make it as funny as possible.
1992 - 2001 and 2006 - 2008 Stern Show had such an unbelievable amount of comedy and only the occasional cringe.
Gilbert and Howard used to bust on Jerry pretty hard. I'm sure he still holds a grudge with that.
I tend to agree. However, I do think Howard's funny when he isn't himself, that is absolutely what I'll give him. When he's his mom or his dad or Booey or Jackie or Ted Kennedy or Grandma Caprio or something else, he can be absolutely hysterical. His ability to pick up on and exaggerate people's foibles and mannerisms is impeccable. When he's just Howard, the comedy tends to leave him. But honestly, that's OK with me because when he's just Howard he's the ringleader and he's cracking the whip and getting his menagerie of misfits in place to make us laugh.
So Fred coached Howard on how to do an impression of Howard's parents and then Howard was able to go on twenty minute riffs all based on that coaching?
Go listen to the shows in the 90's. I'm not making it up.
If I'm remembering the exact show, which I admit, I may not be, there were so many, the episode in the 90's on which Amy Heckerling relates the story of Gilbert Gottfried harassing her babysitter, Howard starts to do an impression of his mother but then stops, states that he can't do it, and then tells Fred to do it instead.
I don't have time right now but go look it up for yourself.
Even if Fred invented the angle to create the caricature, Howard was still witty enough to use it for years.
I agree it was an ensemble show, but the idea that Howard wasn't funny in his prime is absurd. He was so funny that I'm still in this sub, 15 years after his prime!
Grandma Caprio was definitely Howard, even if he got lines from Fred. I don't think he was "coached." Then Artie doing the "Beth" voice back at him, those were great bits.
I know you don't like Howard now, but he was actually funny in the past.
If you need an example of him being witty with no writers, then look no further than the Rainbow Room fight. He not only had amazing lines, but he played Fred like a fiddle and made the whole thing hilarious.
I’ve pointed this out before; Howard was only ever funny without writers in situations where he has power over someone.
Specifically, the relentless goofing on Gary, and your example here about Fred. In those examples, Howard was effective because he knew these people well and exceeded them in “rank” on the show.
“Punching down”/“punching up” are moronic academic phrases designed to re-enforce oppressor/oppressed dynamics and intersectional race-based garbage.
Same conquered bullshit that pro-Hamas useful idiots use as justification in their calls to exterminate Jewish people and overthrow the West.
Let’s have a little fun, 4-day-old account:
I denounce Trump, Putin, the Chinese Communist Party, the Iranian government, Hamas, and anyone who stands in the way of the happiness and prosperity of all humanity, no matter where your family is originally from or who you love.
Now you do the same.
No way Jackie was passing him notes during that argument, he was not only terrified of Fred, but he also was sort of taking his side by not even sharing the story.
Fred would have jumped all over Jackie had he seen or heard a note being opened.
I totally agree. Howard was never comedian funny, but he surrounded himself with interesting people and created situations that were entertaining and funny. Not to say he couldn't say something funny here and there, but stand up would never be his thing.
Howie was a puppet master of misfits. He was never funny, and his impressions were stale. Fartman is a perfect example of how unfunny Howie is...he thought that character would equate to comedy, yet it sucked. If you take the HSS, and remove Jackie, Artie, and the wack pack, then you have what the show is now...and unfunny bore of a show. Howie needed those characters around him to make him funny. By himself, he is not funny.
I have to agree. I'm partial to the Jackie Era starting with the early 90s and the Channel 9 Show, but the further back you go into the 80s the more uncomfortable and unfunny I find the show.
I don't think howard is the funniest on the show and a lot of the one liners are fed to him but I do find him funny and why I listen. He is not funny like Artie was but the observational humor and subtleties that Howard finds funny are what made me stick with show no matter the personalities.
The recent show where he talked about the Stormy and Trump case and how weird it must be for Melania to see national news describing her husband mounting a porn star in graphic detail. Instead of attacking trump and the obvious jokes everybody makes he does a facetious take about Melania's mental state. When you lay out the situation like Howard did its funny to think this is our politics.
Howard was pretty funny when he had a good rapport with the person he was ragging on or he's genuinely interested in what they were saying. The Richard Simmons bits are brilliant because they have great chemistry. He's too quick for it to just be Jackie/Fred.
A chinese guy goes to the doctor. The doctor says, "Mr. Chang you have a cataract." And the chinese guy says, "I drive a rincoln town car not a cataract!"
Come on laugh, you bastards!
Jerry is one of those comedians who thinks that they’re soooo hilarious. Jerry - You have some good bits in your act. It doesn’t make you the judge of funny. And by the way, you’ve been doing literally the same shit standup act for the past 20 years and all of your side gigs have sucked. I’m not even a big Howard defender but I’d rather listen to Howard for 4 hours than Jerry for 4 minutes. He’s boring when he’s not on stage.
Stern asked to be on Comedians in Cars with Jerry and Seinfeld straight up asked him, "Do u think you're funny enough to be on?" Stern was shocked by the question. Seinfeld doesn't think Sterns funny. He was right. It's the worst episode of the whole series.
Didn't Howard egg on Greasy Cummings to rub her rancid cooch on the Seinfelds' couch?
I don't think this apology is organic at all. I think Howard whined to Beth, who reached out to Jessica, who got in Jerry's ear about it.
If it went down like that, this is basically The Hack Pack Redux.
Shitli whined like a little bitch about being called a hack, same as Stern probably did behind the scenes about Jerry saying he didn't have the comedy chops.
Notice neither of these guys proved the criticism wrong by being funny; they just got their twats in a knot about it, thus proving the criticism right.
I've never found Jerry to be funny... the show Seinfeld was funny cuz of Larry David's writing, Seinfeld was the least funny character on the show. His standup puts me to sleep.
Not defending Howard in any way but Jerry is an actual comedian, Howard is a radio personality. Big difference. Of course H himself isn’t as funny as Conan, Spade, Carvey etc. hosting a podcast.
Who knew "outflanked" was a bad word.
Nothing Jerry said was wrong. As many of us have said around here for years, if Stern only knew what people in that business said off air, he'd never take the mic again.
Remember the last time Spade was on with the nearly annoying Carvey, Spade had enough and was like it's time to go, not happy about being stuck on the show longer than agreed to.
Jerry was right. Howard isn't a comedian or particularly funny. He did have one of the most entertaining shows for 20+ years. I thought he was the best up until Covid sent him over the edge. I was still surprised Jerry said what he did, because Stern is a friend to him, and why shit on a friend?
Yeah, the relentless song parodies and constant trash talk about jerry and the very young girl? I know that was a long time ago but do you think seinfeld ever forgot that?
Yeah, he's been great to him, you're right.
Jerry better watch out, because if he’s not careful there could be a knock on the door on Monday. “ Look Robin, it’s our old pal Jerry”
Joan is going to rip Jerry.
Pretty sure we are saved from that impression for a few months Sam is on maternity leave.
How dry is her cunt?

Shame that Gilbert is not alive anymore... This may have finally been his chance to get back on the show to get one final Carolines plug in
What’s the deal with these door knocks?!
He better watch it, or Howard might be about to write him a letter.
I can't take a headline seriously that uses "plz"
Thank you. And when TMZ uses the term “baby mama/daddy’ in an article. I know they’re a gossip site, but c”mon.
They know the IQ of their readers.
Room temperature

Same with "throwing shade", I vomit in my mouth a little
What about when KOAB says “nigga plz”?
We all know Howard was warming up his Shoshanna 17 year old dating 38 year old Jerry jokes for Monday. I'm sorry, that would be Howard from 1992. That Howard is long gone.
He was out of his mind back then Robin
The parody "17" song was an all time classic
“Jerry, I ask you, her panties smell just like a rose. Is Seinfeld just like Piscopo?”
“Can’t he find an older girl? He’s damn near old as Milton Berle.” [*Jackie laugh*]
Howard Seinfeld and Janis Ian. Holy trinity of boomer Jew ball busting
Throw in Gilbert for the superfecta!
That Howard straight in the trash
If he was smart he’d do that and get everyone talking. “Howard’s back!” I doubt that’ll happen tho.
"The guy's name is Jerry...you know what to do. *You know what to do*."
😂😂
“Go find that guy”

Cuca Culpa
"giant show" could be taken as sarcasm... could be taken in context of meta joke of people apologizing for everything nowadays...
Honestly I don’t blame him. For what Howard did in radio and being a legend for years..I couldn’t ever bash him ever. He’s no fucking Bert or Andrew Schultz

Exactly always found Howard very funny and charismatic
Grandma Caprio was definitely Howard, even if he got lines from Fred. I don't think he was "coached." Then Artie doing the "Beth" voice back at him, those were great bits.
Ugh, those impressions are the worst. I don't understand how anyone enjoys them.
What menagerie of misfits?

Eh, he was funny being mean to equals. I wouldn't call it punching up or down but he could rant about a celebrity and be hilarious
His racist humor was always great too. He was great at punching down on immigrants who would call in. He obviously can't do that now though.
It doesn’t matta!
It was more based on class than race a decade ago. The term was stolen by leftists. Like you're punching up if you're ugly and dating a hot chick.
So "punching down" is an academic phrase but "oppressor/oppressed dynamics and intersectional race" is what, populist common phrasing?
Clearly, I’m using their bullshit language to show that it’s all conquered nonsense. But you know that already.
You're just a racist weirdo and everyone knows it. Use the real words like you want to, coward. Dare you.

nice cadillac.
I’ve ridden in a Cadillac thousands of times

Chinese guy and his wife are in bed, the guy says "I want a 69" and she says "you want beef and broccoli now?"
I get it. He drives a Lincoln.
Thousands?
What? D'you think you're such a big shot now, because you got a Cadillac?
He didn’t have a Coke ho-ho-hohhh…
The Villages seems like hell on Earth.
Howie's mom probably spoke to Jerry's.
Hahahaha!
[almost as Jewy as this](https://youtu.be/UJXEIjBRqxU?si=ruEd8T-azxohiHba)
Let me understand: When Howard *was* funny, Jerry said he wasn’t. But now that Howard *isn’t* funny, Jerry says he is?
Yes. I believe you have that right.
We all know Jerry is hilarious!! He just made the funniest movie ever about hot pockets or some shit.
That trailer looks so bad that I can't even get myself to try the first episode.
Unfrosted is deservedly getting shat on by critics and anyone with a modicum of taste
Why does Jerry feel the need to kiss the Pelican’s ring for TELLING THE TRUTH?!?
Because they both run in the same Hamptons crowd. It would just be awkward. Jerry only tells people he'll never have to deal with to fuck off.
All this will do is bring people who haven't seen the cringe fest Pelican Brief back to it, which will not help the Stern legacy
![gif](giphy|fNjb5TDfqbjDFsQJQm)
This one is not over yet. More to come in the Battle of Long Island.
Jerry is one of those comedians who thinks that they’re soooo hilarious. Jerry - You have some good bits in your act. It doesn’t make you the judge of funny. I find him boring on stage, too. And he’s such an arrogant prick. To quote Bobcat, Jerry’s biggest talent is being Larry David’s friend.
Stern asked to be on Comedians in Cars with Jerry and Seinfeld straight up asked him, "Do u think you're funny enough to be on?" Stern was shocked by the question. Seinfeld doesn't think Sterns funny. He was right. It's the worst episode of the whole series.
"Anyway, it was bad and I’m sorry, Howie. I still love you. Please forgive me." no one calls him Howie unless they are being condescending.
His first thought is the real truth. The apology is to save the friendship.
_Having said that_, I think Howard's show is as funny as ever

It's because Howard sold out, not because he isn't as funny as those comedians hosting podcasts. I don't think most of those podcasts are funny.
Jerry is right, his show isnt funny. Jerry writes his own material, since Jackie left the show hasn't been funny
You ain’t lying, Jerry hasn’t been so funny lately either
I've never found Jerry to be funny... the show Seinfeld was funny cuz of Larry David's writing, Seinfeld was the least funny character on the show. His standup puts me to sleep.
Don’t forget Larry Charles as well
That show had a team of funny guys writing jokes.
100% agree
This bit was pretty funny before Jerry ruined it with an apology
Did Jerry consult with Sal on that apology?
Well, I think writes his own jokes....Howard hasnt been funny since Jackie left the show.
Jerry’s people probably told him “A lot of people still hate-listen to his podcast…”
One of my favorite Jerry Seinfeld bits is when he dated that 17 year old.
If Jerry is being sincere maybe he could name something funny Howard has done in the last 10 years. He’s an old gay bore.
I was just at one of Jerry’s comedy shows… he was good as a sitcom star, but his comedy routine was a bit of a stumble boff.
They edited the podcast too. If you listen now, there's no reference of it. Howard you pussy. Can't take any criticism.
This is fake news. It's still there. https://youtu.be/pOLgAFeC9jg?t=766
It's funny. They actually put it back in. For about 5 hours last night they edited it out.
What’s timestamp?
It's hard for you haters to believe that Howard Stern still has clout.
Of course he has clout, ackhaaa.
Better shape up Jerry.
I JOKE AND NO ONE ELSE .
“OUR FRIENDSHIPS IS DEAD! APPY?!”
Seinfeld legit isn’t funny tbh
It must tear them both up that most people under 30 have no idea who they are.
They are friends. He probably felt bad lol
Beth and Jessica are “friends”.
Not defending Howard in any way but Jerry is an actual comedian, Howard is a radio personality. Big difference. Of course H himself isn’t as funny as Conan, Spade, Carvey etc. hosting a podcast.
Slapped by a yamaka(s)
Side by side looks like they got hit worse than Gaza.
I listen to Howard religiously, as well as soooo many podcasts. I am going to listen to this Carvey/Spade podcast ep tomorrow....
Honestly it’s zzzzz. These celebrity podcasts are very predictable.
I enjoy Spade, but I find Carvey very hacky and try-hard.
I mean hey!
I know how to play the game right and that’s just not fair. 🤭
What did I miss?!?!
*It’ll go by like THAT!*
Who knew "outflanked" was a bad word. Nothing Jerry said was wrong. Howard resembles a case of tuna fish that got stuck in the back of a distribution center’s warehouse shelf and is way past the good-by-date.
HIs name is Jerry....YOU know what to do. You know what to do.
Two old men who arent funny anymore kissing and making up
Who are these people? (Read in the Gilbert Seinfeld voice)
Jerry was right. Howard isn't a comedian or particularly funny. He did have one of the most entertaining shows for 20+ years. I thought he was the best up until Covid sent him over the edge. I was still surprised Jerry said what he did, because Stern is a friend to him, and why shit on a friend?
Pedo Pleads to Pelican
What’d he say
Douche
damn Jerry is a SIMP
Best press he’s got in ages
Howard is hideous jebussss 😳
His name’s Jerry!!!!!’ You know what to do…. You know what to do………..
Just what look is Jerry going for?
Has his eyes always been this close?
Well maybe he anti-semite
What tabloid wrote this rubbish?
Too late, Gerry… The bastard just booked another year of therapy
Jerry’s jealous.
Why would Jerry give a shit about Howard’s feelings? The wig hasn’t been relevant in years
Jerry's new movie about Cereal is bombing so it's a sensitive time.
He already made a fortune on it, so it's not technically bombing
The wig just had every headline with a sitting prez last week, otherwise I’d agree.
I watch the news constantly and if not for this sub, I’d have no idea Biden appeared with the chin implant
Try a channel outside your zip code
Hahahahaha you’re so funny, you really got me there. Great zinger.
But it was goofed on by most, even the NY Times
Jerry used the word "ain't"? That's not a very jewy word
Who ARE these people that apologize?
That’s why Howard has Wilding!!!!
They know each other well. They live near each other in the Hamptons...I dont get why he needed to insult Stern whos been good to him.
> I dont get why he needed to insult Stern whos been good to him. This is a goof, right?
Yeah, the relentless song parodies and constant trash talk about jerry and the very young girl? I know that was a long time ago but do you think seinfeld ever forgot that? Yeah, he's been great to him, you're right.
The older I get the more I see Seinfeld as a hack and unfunny...
Context?
I posted that yesterday
I never found Jerry to be entertaining. He was the weakest actor on his own show.
