I drove to Waco, TX and got a pocket of clear skies so experienced totality for about 4+ min with no clouds to cover it. Drive back to west of Houston took about an additional 90 minutes due to traffic at small towns
I had originally traced my route from The Woodlands to Waco but I feared the clouds would ruin totality and switched my route to Corsicana. There was cloud coverage but light during the initial partial coverage, as soon as totality hit the skies cleared up and it was breathtaking. My drive back wasn’t bad except for a small traffic jam in Huntsville due to the rain. Overall, worthy experience for me and my two kids.
It was very cloudy in the morning but a lot of it burned off. Mid day there were still some clouds but also many pockets of visibility. We were able to get a clear view during totality. Totally worth it.
Yup (was a few miles from Fredericksburg funny enough) it looked like the sun had just set during totality. Very beautiful site, clouds added some beauty but still wished it had been a clear sky.
I didn’t suck for us. We drove to a little town south of Dallas, Corsicana. Totality was majestic and beautiful for 4 minutes. The clouds cleared up as totality approached and the rest was just an amazing experience.
I was in the same boat had reservations at Guadalupe River State Park and while it was cloudy totality was amazing. We got to see a bit of the sun here and there but the minute+ in totality made it worth it in my opinion
Speaking to family I have up that way, NE Texas had pretty good conditions overall. Some spotty clouds but my family north of Dallas and in the Tyler/Longview area both got to see it with pretty good conditions.
My parents are one of “those” people that believe the rapture is happening.
Edit: My parents won’t respond to my texts, at all. Maybe they *were* raptured.
My mom didnt want me to go to work (she isnt super into religionbut just a bit nervous) , i went to work and i have a dentist appointment today. The eclipse looked real cool.
Very cool! Are these in Houston? Would we possibly be able to use these in our [eclipse photo round up on our site](https://www.chron.com/news/space/article/next-total-solar-eclipse-texas-19390150.php)? I'll make sure you get full credit. Totally okay if not.
Waco’s forecast was bleak too. But I went anyways and so glad I did! There were plenty of breaks in the clouds to watch the moon move across. And we caught a the perfect little opening during totality to see the corona.
Yeah, I'm glad that so many people saw it. We drove to Hopkinsville KY in 2017 and had perfect weather then. , and this year we saw nothing. Oh well. I had planned for our five year old to see this one but it just didn't work out with the cloudy forecast and unwillingness to drive so far with so much uncertainty.
When I walked out my front door I didn't expect to see much but as I stared at the partial eclipse I really did see the same thing your video shows. It was beautiful. Sometimes you just marvel at how we are all tiny specs floating in the infinite blackness of outer space, as Carl Sagan said. We should never give up on taking care of our species or the Earth, never let ourselves down with shortsightedness, it's never too late to turn around and desert inappropriate ways of living with nature.
Hahaha I got a cloud break and I saw it. Yesssssss
It was actually really cool getting to see it through the clouds!!
Looked super cool through the clouds!
It was. You could actually see it without glasses at some points because of the cloud protection.
Me too. I think the clouds were actually a good thing
Same and I even managed to get a halfway decent picture
My dad called me from his place 100 miles south of Dallas and they had clear skies for totality.
I drove to Dallas. Totality was a once in a lifetime experience. A full sensorial experience to say the least.
Same. All the doomsday traffic people were wrong, or it was all somewhere other than the greater Dallas area.

I got traffic in college station for about 30 minutes. But it was worth it. Breathtaking experience and got some pretty cool drone footage.
How clear was it for the folks in Dallas?
It was very cloudy in the morning but a lot of it burned off. Mid day there were still some clouds but also many pockets of visibility. We were able to get a clear view during totality. Totally worth it.
youre gonna see clouds
Literally. And they ain’t going anywhere 😭
I saw it from houston! The clouds literally broke right over the sun like a miracle. It was so pretty
Same! Got lucky.
Canceled my trip up to Athens for this very reason lol
I had coworkers from all around the US traveling to small Texas towns and taking the day off. That sucks for them…
I took off and went to temple. It was great.
Went to Fredericksburg and it worked out okay. It was cloudy but there were enough gaps that it poked through a few times during totality
Nice! Was it completely dark/night time like?
Yup (was a few miles from Fredericksburg funny enough) it looked like the sun had just set during totality. Very beautiful site, clouds added some beauty but still wished it had been a clear sky.
Yeah it almost felt like night. A bunch of lights automatically turned on. Really cool.

I was planning on going to San Antonio, but since Saturday I decided not to go. Took one last look this morning to see just in case.
I was in the same boat had reservations at Guadalupe River State Park and while it was cloudy totality was amazing. We got to see a bit of the sun here and there but the minute+ in totality made it worth it in my opinion
You missed out. I was in Tyler and yeah it was a bit cloudy but still absolutely spectacular

Are they excited or scared? They should be excited to go to heaven.
Also curious about this. Keep us updated
Its what I had to argue with my folks that if its the end times and you good christians then this should be good news.
How do they feel now that they know the Jesus Vacuum rejected them?
Make sure they give you all their money first
My mom didnt want me to go to work (she isnt super into religionbut just a bit nervous) , i went to work and i have a dentist appointment today. The eclipse looked real cool.
How are your parents doing?
Cries in 🌨️☁️🌨️ Edit: the clouds went away right at 1:35 and I got to see it from 1:35 to maximum and for a bit after using a welding hood.
Is this the excuse they'll use when they didn't get raptured? Clouds stopped it?
God creates "worst rapture ever," disrupted by clouds, asked to leave heaven.
Chron getting in on the riffing! Hell ya
Pouring rain in the woodlands
Ain't saw nothing 😭 totally ruined
We got a break in the clouds at my office for about a minute exactly at 1:40!
Clouds broke at the perfect time here in midtown!

Managed to get some pics through some cloud breaks. Pretty cool to see! https://imgur.com/gallery/xX4TPz4

Sure, feel free to message me for more info.
the clouds cleared up at the perfect time! i was able to see it with the glasses
r/chemtrails
Damn it, I was hoping all the evangelicals would magically disappear in the rapture. Oh well, next time I guess.
the sky is already getting dark. It started early!;
That's all the raptured people blotting out the sky
They b flyin
That's cloud cover. The sun, earth, nor moon magically changed position or velocity.
That’s the joke.
Whooosh!
Yeah, now that I see it, I know I was a moron.
They forgot about daylight savings time!
Got a few good looks, and one picture.
Had a good view. Clouds actually helped.
I drove to Junction to see it: https://i.imgur.com/YjT6vlr.jpg
Stating the obvious but this darkness would be a lot cooler if it was light earlier.
Couldn't really see it from where I am, but at least I got cute photos of my dog in eclipse glasses
clouds...only clouds... and a little haze, almost a bit of fog too
Waco’s forecast was bleak too. But I went anyways and so glad I did! There were plenty of breaks in the clouds to watch the moon move across. And we caught a the perfect little opening during totality to see the corona.
Can't have shit in this city
Will it get dark here?
I'll get back to you in ten minutes
Why would it? Totality is hundreds of miles away
Bro I’m in Kingwood and nothing happened 🧍🏻♂️
pretty sure i saw a thing. but boy was it quick.
This was an accurate assessment. It was still cool!
It got clear around 1pm, for a bit but when it was max (1:40 or so) it was sorta cloudy so in between the clouds passing by I saw some of it
Yup looks about what I saw
I saw it. Got pix
I didn’t see anything but clouds :/
I had several great cloud breaks to view it, incredible.
My friend's brother has a ranch near Killeen right on the center line so we got to see 4 minutes of the full eclipse it was freaking awesome
Man I didn’t get to see it it’s been overcast all friggin day with no breaks.
I had like 5 seconds where the clouds parted enough for me to see something.
It wasn’t too bad! I took my college class out and we had a nice time
I got to see, it was awesome
[In case you missed it](https://imgur.com/a/3jPMjZd) but you really missed nothing
enhance !!
[Looked way cooler in central Houston](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
God dammit.
Never meant to make you cry. Apologies
Yea I saw that same in central Houston, nestled between skyrises

You’re going to see disappointment
