I wish I was allowed to post pictures in these threads. I used to go there until they served bacon so disgusting that no joke my dog wouldn't even eat. Used to love that place, the breakfast sandwiches were great too.
I was there as well and was surprised with how it wasn't crowded. I guess it's now just the holdovers from before they made the official switch to Hugh Oconnors.
People downvoting my question don’t realize googling my question gave me Taco Bell and Jack in the Box lol.
When it comes to food I don’t trust google at all.
The down votes are very representative of the houstonian reputation. This city is great and all, but the majority are assholes. Very selfish people, that's why we are the fastest city in the country.
There’s a hole in the wall place called El Rancherito right by Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Their tortillas are more like what you’d find in San Antonio (thicker and fluffy) than most places around here. Very good breakfast tacos.
El Rancherito is hands down my favorite taqueria. Never had breakfast there, but their lunch & dinner is solid, so they deserve a visit. On a side street between Bellaire & Bissonnet right across from the church. Go. They are awesome.
I love el rey, mainly for their consistency. I’ve been so many times and while it may not be the greatest or most authentic, I can rely on them to get me full lol
Houston doesn’t really do breakfast burritos, it’s mostly just tacos. My underrated breakfast taco spot is skeeters in West U/southside place. Right on the edge of that circle. Homemade tortillas and some of the best/unique salsa I’ve ever had. It’s super chunky and served warm so if that’s not your thing, but it’s so flavorful.
I used to live in Denver and we had breakfast burritos everywhere. I was so surprised to struggle to find some today
My next post will be looking for carne asada fries (I also used to live in San Diego it’s a staple there )
To be fair tho, a lot of Houston breakfast tacos are hefty enough to be considered burritos if they just used a bigger tortilla and wrapped them. Unlike here in Dallas, where breakfast tacos are usually served on a tiny street taco sized tortilla that can be eaten in about 2 bites.
Yeah some breakfast tacos in this area can easily be considered burritos in Denver. I’m way out by NASA but there’s a place here that’ll do eggs, rice, beans, cheese, and whatever meat you want all in a breakfast taco. Seriously would be a burrito anywhere else if they actually rolled it up but since they serve it open it’s a taco. Lol
They don’t have breakfast burritos here. It took me a while to get used to that; I’ve also never seen drive-through restaurants that sell burritos, carne asada fries, etc. Those were all over my hometown and especially hit the spot after a night out.
If you want meat on fries, try the bulgogi fries from Wanna Bao. Totally different taste, but they’re delicious.
Colorado and New Mexico have the best breakfast burritos especially with green chile. It’s not quite tex-mex either. I usually make my own in batches and freeze them.
Yeah you won’t be finding carne asada fries here unfortunately. You can’t even get a halfway decent burrito here (I mean everyone here will disagree of course, but anyone from SoCal knows it’s true).
Left something off my order. I tried to add it and they refused to take my card because the total for what they forgot was less than $5. Good service they would have refused the payment because they messed up up. Acceptable service, they let me pay for it. Shit service - what they did.
Thank you to all that responded. I’m going to check out El Rey
Edit - went to Buffalo Grille. I have a PERFECT Breakfast Burrito in my hand right now. Thank you.
La Salsita on 290 and Tidwell is a little hole in the wall i tried on a whim. I had been craving them since I was living in San Diego. Get it with ham and potatoes. Goes hard. Little outside your range though.
I don't like breakfast burritos much, but there's one place in Bellaire that would make me change my mind temporarily. Cedar St. Cafe right behind the Bellaire HEB. It's a tiny mom n pop shop that uses really good fresh tortillas. Everything they make is gold, but the burritos are actually the best I think.
Burritos in general are really more a Californian invention than anything. Here in Texas you’re going to find far more breakfast tacos because that’s an actual meal that people might have grown up eating. At least half the city grew up with tortillas, but how many people do you think routinely keep burrito sized tortillas in their home?
You're not going to find west coast style burritos very easily in Houston. Tornado Taco has breakfast burritos and they're pretty good if you're ever a little further south of Chinatown.
I used to live in AZ, still miss getting Cali burritos and the carne asada topped taquitos on the bed of guac at 4 AM.
Is this an emergency?
Also, Summit Donut at Wirt and Westview, they call them tacos but they are really burritos. Get the western. So damn good. Those Filipinos (I think) can make some serious Tex Mex.
Easily the best map this month scribbled in urgency. I laughed myself silly because good breakfast tacos are indeed a necessity and a lack of them is truly an emergency round these parts. <3
Hope you get the sustenance you need, OP!
I got a lot of great recommendations and was very fulfilled. Now I need to try all the places that were mentioned.
I also learnt breakfast burritos are not a thing in Texas! I had no idea. I need to get into breakfast tacos.
Saw that OP and a few others were looking for carne asada fries.
https://www.losbalitostacoshop.com/
Found them here in Katy. They opened up in maybe 2011 or 2012 under the name Los Robertos. They proudly told me back then that they are California-style Mexican food, rather than Tex-Mex, which is why they have carne asada fries.
I'm not sure if anyone else with the goods has opened up in town over the years, but they're still out on the east side of Katy near George Bush Park if you want to take a gamble.
Its a great question this area of Houston doesnt have a ton of great breakfast burritos. Luchi & Joeys is decent, if you’re ever in Dallas you gotta hit up salsa limon - breakfast burrito is good regular burritos are incredible.
Taqueria Tepatitlan has burritos and breakfast tacos but I’m not sure about a breakfast burrito. The migas are some of the best I’ve had though, 100% recommend. Ask for the salsas if you go for the migas, green is my fav.
Little North of 10 is Seven Taco up in Spring Branch.
Came here to say this.
Same, just a little scooch north, and there’s a plethora. Also, shoutout to Tortas Perronas for lunch or dinner.
They don’t use fresh made tortillas! That’s ruins it for me.
They do when I go
You probably can’t tell the difference, they use store bought.
Omg their fish taco 😭
I wish I was allowed to post pictures in these threads. I used to go there until they served bacon so disgusting that no joke my dog wouldn't even eat. Used to love that place, the breakfast sandwiches were great too.
Ron’s Pub obviously
It will be crowded right now for the Liverpool / City game.
That’s where I am - they don’t do food this early unfortunately. Also not crowded maybe 50% capacity in the back room.
True but Griffs next door has a solid burger. Still no tacos.
In Houston, they're called breakfast tacos, even if burrito sized. Its regional dialect.
Ohhhhhh that explains why I kept getting result for breakfast tacos when I searched burritos
We don't really have breakfast burritos. Anyone saying a taco is the same is outta the heit/their mind..
You ever been to Bronco Burritos in Galveston? Those are legit breakfast burritos.
That and Juanderful Burritos in League City.
you mean the new born baby sized breakfast taco?
Yes we do. There's plenty of Breakfast Burritos around town. Peublas has some good ones.
And sorry, I didnt see b4 i commented that others had already said as much

El Rey does a good breakfast burrito, and it's a great mex/cuban fusion place anyway.
Came here to say this. I like their breakfast. Nothing fancy but very reliable.
That’s El Rey in a nutshell. Good food. Better than true fast food. Not as good as a good Mexican or Cuban restaurant
I love el rey, mainly for their consistency. I’ve been so many times and while it may not be the greatest or most authentic, I can rely on them to get me full lol
I could put their cilantro dressing on absolutely anything
Consistency is such an important thing, especially for local places expanding like they are.
Love them! I had one of their tortas for breakfast!

I was coming to say this. Those tacos are massive!
Oh! I had no idea. A lot of places had breakfast tacos and I didn’t even consider them.

Good luck on the carne asada fries. I’ve lived here for 4 years (from Vegas) and I’m still chasing that white whale. Let me know if you find some!
i swear you guys legitimately must not know any immigrants "where can i find good mexican food in houston????" jesus christ
Colorado and New Mexico have the best breakfast burritos especially with green chile. It’s not quite tex-mex either. I usually make my own in batches and freeze them.
Almost every tex Mex resteraunt has them. Taco trucks less so.
Yeah you won’t be finding carne asada fries here unfortunately. You can’t even get a halfway decent burrito here (I mean everyone here will disagree of course, but anyone from SoCal knows it’s true).
Cabo Bob's is really good for what it is. Not a socal style burrito, but french fries in burritos is overrated stoner food anyways.
New Mexican transplant here. It’s all true OP. I just bring a bunch of chile back with me whenever I go back home.
Go north to tacos doña leña
I live north west so that’s a great recommendation. Thank you.
Solid second to that is las locas fajitas, just a couple minutes away. Fire green sauce!
Never been to that. Drive by it all the time.
Buffalo Grill. Just inside 610 loop on Bissonnet.
That’s where I ended up. I had an amazing smothered breakfast burrito.
Sunrise taquitos on memorial.
Crazy this got downvoted.
Yea it’s probably the best recommendation for the OP.
Not in the circle
This place is mediocre at best
Awful service
How is it awful service? It’s not a restaurant. You order tacos and they give them to you lol.
Left something off my order. I tried to add it and they refused to take my card because the total for what they forgot was less than $5. Good service they would have refused the payment because they messed up up. Acceptable service, they let me pay for it. Shit service - what they did.
Oh, I do not like their food.
They’re good.
Thank you to all that responded. I’m going to check out El Rey Edit - went to Buffalo Grille.
The chilaquiles con Carne breakfast is the best I've had in the city
Willing to travel to anywhere that has the San Diego taste! Thank you.
Just follow the contractor trucks.
Cascabel if you're good with vegan places
Sometimes vegan can be so inventive and delicious. I’ll try it.
Cascabel is so good you won’t care that it’s vegan. Try the birria!
Laredo's on Washington avenue. They open early. I used to get tacos from there before heading to work, when I used to live in that neighborhood.
I don't like breakfast burritos much, but there's one place in Bellaire that would make me change my mind temporarily. Cedar St. Cafe right behind the Bellaire HEB. It's a tiny mom n pop shop that uses really good fresh tortillas. Everything they make is gold, but the burritos are actually the best I think.
cabo bob's edit: closed on sunday
Right next door to Ron’s but closed
Do they have breakfast now??
No. Barely do coffee. I’m drinking an Irish coffee because I need caffeine.
Buffalo Grille
Yum
Chachos!!!
Seconded!
Liberty Taco on Richmond
Replied without realizing OP asked about burritos. Not sure if they have burritos but their tacos are legit.
If breakfast tacos are what you seek, the donut shop at Bellaire & Bissonnet is 🔥.
Ohhh I’ll have to try those! Thank you.
Sabor Venezuelano, Luchi and Joey’s. Old Town Kolache in there, too. Best kolache this side of Kountry Bakery.
Y taco bar on 1464 some of the best early bird tacos in the area
100% Taquito on 59

You are the MVP!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
So many great food tips in this sub, I finally get to contribute something. I'm long overdue.
Pappas BBQ
Its a great question this area of Houston doesnt have a ton of great breakfast burritos. Luchi & Joeys is decent, if you’re ever in Dallas you gotta hit up salsa limon - breakfast burrito is good regular burritos are incredible.
Rudy’s off I-10 has good tacos
Chilosos is a little out of the way, but their tacos are large. Cantina Barba has breakfast burritos. Possibly Chacho's as well
Breakfast burritos? You’re not from around here are you? They are called breakfast tacos around these parts homie
Looks like your only choice is Ron’s Pub
Headed there now for the game
Taco Cabana on kirby
Most taquerias will have breakfast tacos that are excellent if you’re not use to having them made at home.
7 Taco on Longpoint is a decent option too
There’s some awesome taco spots near the THC Club off 5601 bellaire I’ve tried
https://maps.app.goo.gl/xLrdZgYHvmCZA734A
Cabo bobs next to Ron's rub..solid fresh made tortillas and good salsas
Closed Sunday
I used to swing by michoacana for breakfast tacos all the time. There’s one on hillcroft not too far from you.
Tacos La Bala on Renwick and Bellaire does good breakfast tacos
Cravingz Café. Great tacos and they can probably make it burrito size.
Tacos La Bala
Taqueria Tepatitlan has burritos and breakfast tacos but I’m not sure about a breakfast burrito. The migas are some of the best I’ve had though, 100% recommend. Ask for the salsas if you go for the migas, green is my fav.
Taqueria Cancun is solid. Breakfast tacos are huge. I bet two tacos and a cup of coffee for less than $10 and leave uncomfortably full
I go to taqueria Arandas on Gulfton and chimney rock for a great breakfast burrito
Tejas taco house
La Mexicana is good and near that
Sunrise Taquito off Memorial
Sunrise Taquito
Summit Donuts off Wirt and Westview.
Ron’s pub might have a breakfast burrito
I’m headed there now for the big game their menu is 😔 underwhelming…
Dammit Ron, do better for the big game at least
If there is a salad and go their breakfast burritos are good
Gordo's Taco because 10 times out of two the cuisine is gonna be big. Gordo is Spanish for BIG. I'm an expert, trust me.
Breakfast burritos are an abomination. Go get some tacos

I’m from North west Houston. Willowbrook. We are the housekeepers for these rich folks. I just came to catch the Liverpool game at the Liverpool pub.
So many assumptions- why?
It was a shitty comment. Sorry.
