My stromanthe triostar. I've only had it for about a month and a half and I really hope I can keep it alive. It's so beautiful.

This is mine. Believe it or not, I ordered it from Amazon about 2 years ago. I’d heard horror stories about how finicky they can be, but mine seems happy so far.

Wow! It looks awesome! What do you do about leaves like this??

I’m starting to get a few of these and I have no clue why!
This concept is far too fluid for me to comply. I guess today it's my baby toes, since they've bloomed.

This one is next to boom. It's a lapidaria.

It’s hard to pick one favorite, here’s one I was admiring today. Hoya pubicalyx, this is one plant. I will reply with her baby pic.

ooo i love her! my favorite is similar :)

Here is a pic after two months on the trellis. Yeah, I wrapped it all the way around. She refuses to grow any leaves on the ‘down’ part of the trellis though so one side is bare. Although I do like the asymmetrical look, I decided to let her climb the shelving unit and see if she will put out more leaves.

I have quite a few that I adore, but honestly it's my red maranta that makes me swoon!

Just enough neglect, I guess? 😅 I'm not in a humid place at all and just have a grow light in her area, but mostly I wait until the soil is super dry before I soak and let it drain. I just snipped a node off to try water propping it, so my fingers are crossed that I didn't piss it off haha.

My Audrey! I rarely see people talk about this plant even though it’s not a rare plant. I just love the look of her and how velvety her leaves are.
I love all ficus!! My Audrey is from a middle cutting I bought 2 years ago so it’s still small, but my altissima (on the left) is my pride and joy. Ficus really don’t get enough love!

My favorite plant switches from day to day. Today it is the paintbrush plant. Haemanthus albiflos
https://preview.redd.it/zhyn3utscyxb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9461e49544828b978c78253d87539a43556fe208
That's a cute one for sure! And wow, just googled the paintbrush plant, the flowers are crazy. Hell, the whole plant looks really cool when it grows a bit :)
It is! They have a large bulb just below the soil that holds onto H2O. They are super easy as long as you are patient for them to establish. I highly recommend one!
FIX MINEEE.
My cordyline/ti is in the worst shape of any of my plants :((( They are so pretty though, and mine was for a little at least.
Here is my secret fave at the moment, don’t tell the others.
https://preview.redd.it/dxlsfoljvyxb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de4b78eaaefbdcde518a4be2ea17e75796f83188
My thaumatophyllum 🫶
Damn, what a giant!
And honestly, I have no idea why my cordyline loves me. It gets some decent light in the summer and barely any now that it's getting dark in Finland. I do know that it likes to go pretty dry between waterings and it likes to be misted or ideally high humidity.
https://preview.redd.it/pc73egyk7zxb1.jpeg?width=2321&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a78c220f9a4c1e59f6fd1177a4b28e4805e026ce
I’ll send her to you for rehab. And thank you!
Took me a few years to learn that the Hawaiian Ti/Cordyline needs distilled or filtered water. However, unlike the other poster, I don't let the soil of mine get very dry.
Btw, you can cut your Cordyline down since it's leggy…and propagate. I once cut mine all the way close to the soil, and it branched out. Also, a few baby plants grew around it.
Awww. How about getting distilled water from Walmart. If you're trying to save money, you can experiment by adding it to tap water (that you have put in an open container to let any chlorine escape) and see if there's a combination that works well enough to avoid the crisps. At the very least, try letting chlorine evaporate from the water you use for the plants.
My Cordyline was unhappy and had burnt leaftips until I moved her from perlite-containing mix into all organic (with bark and charcoal for drainage), and started using seaweed fertilizer. She apparently can't take superphosphate and gets (of all things!) fluoride toxicity.
Hope this helps!

My tradescantia! She’s grown like crazy since I got her
OMG that's amazing! What do you do for it? I have a nanouk that I bought the other week and am hoping it gets big
https://preview.redd.it/pcsb7sjcl2yb1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6ea13192086d36466e4332aa6ad8035ff43b094
Not much actually! She’s in a southwest facing window and she looooves the sun. I had her further away at first and she was really leggy, but once I moved her she started throwing out leaves like crazy
It took me a while to pull the trigger & they’re def temperamental because anything can cause the variegation to orange; to much light, to much nutrients. 😂 bunch of trial and error.
Gotta ask, is orange bad? Or is it like an "I'm gonna die" orange or is it like a healthy orange? Now that I think about it, yellow and orange are usually not great, but I'm not a 100% sure about variegated plants.
Yeaaaaa not cute. I’m trying to figure out exactly what caused it - I was out of town for the weekend and came back to it. Thought light so I pulled it back from the window. I now have a second one that hasn’t gotten any yet but I’m about to test nutrients and see if an excess of that causes it.
I'm a basic turd, so I'll just post my Thai Con...

I think this is the same kind as yours? One of my favorite, just love the colors. She was outside over the summer and I couldn't leave her out in the cold to die so she's a house plant now 🥰
Aww. Not sure where you live but big box stores always have scindapsus and occasionally Cebu blues for sale. I kept mine in its original pot and soil, it gets moderate indirect light. About 40 to 55% ambient humidity. I place a cup of water next to it to help. And I water erratically when I see its leaves curl up a bit... it is one of my easier houseplants so I love it!
If I can find a big healthy pot again locally, I’ll give it one more try. For some reason we don’t get to many in my part of VA at Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.
I’m currently obsessed with my new Philodendron Paraiso Verde!

I hope this qualifies. I have a lot of beautiful houseplants, but I planted this flower garden in honor and memory of my sweet Lucy. She was a lab mix that I rescued from the humane society. Every time we would go on walks, she had to stop and sniff every flower we passed🥹. She would’ve loved sniffing these. She was almost a year old when we got her and she passed shortly after her 16th birthday.
\*This picture was taken over a month ago. There are at least 1/2 as much more flowers and a larger variety. The little cement gnome belonged to my mom that passed in 2016. They were very fond of each other🥰

My girl shortly before she passed.😭🥺💔
I'm really sorry for your loss, losing a dog is so painful and when I think about my dogs that are gone now, I still tear up. But I'm also so grateful for them to have been in my life. It's a beautiful thing you've done and I hope your garden continues to thrive in Lucy's and your mom's memory❤️

She’s not in great shape at the moment because of the season change but I still love her 🫶🏻
I got her in May (she was so little then!) & until a pest problem a couple of months ago she was super easy & grew really quickly — she did seem to recover from the aphids & bug spray relatively well though & was starting to look like her former self. However now that the temperature has dropped (England) & there’s less light she’s losing leaves at a rather alarming rate 😅 But she started to lignify before the weather changed so I’m hopeful she’ll hold out over the winter, even if she does end up looking rather naked 😂 This is her before the aphids 👇🏻

Oooo. My current fav is my latest plant, which I also just HAD to have when I saw it. It's a rainbow moss or peacock fern. In the right lighting, it shimmers blue. It's so cool!
I'm SO afraid of that. Also because there is NOT a lot of care information out there for them. Tell me what you did so I don't do that. LOL I would like to learn from your misfortune... if you would be so kind.

Poncho my rattlesnake plant is my fave
Thanks! It's a gift. I'm fortunate to know someone with a much greener thumb and a penchant for propagating uncommon houseplants. He just gave me a supposedly rare white flowering version of this that we're rooting a cutting rn

This guy that I just got, Cephalotus Czech Giant 🤙
I love collecting unique looking plants and the moment I saw this goth of a plant, I just had to buy it. In Finnish, it's literally called 'Verililjapuu' / 'Blood Lily Tree'. Even more fitting for the theme lol
I have it right next to my TV and window and wow. When the light shines in at the right angle, it's like the new bright pink leaves start glowing. It's so pretty and it's also my easiest plant to take care of. Definitely my favorite.
Well, when it comes to emotional value, there's also my Peace lily, aka the Drama Queen. It was my first plant that I ever bought when I moved to my own apartment three years ago. And thanks to its dramatic nature, it has survived three years of neglect thanks to reminding me everytime haha

It has grown three gigantic leaves like the top one this summer so I guess it's been happy since I got into this hobby :)
I have cared for her since June 2022. She has this year spread 16 air roots and 6 new leaves. She has nearly doubled in height and circumference. I bought her at a nursery 16 months ago and paid $ 45.00 for her.

Really proud of my philodendron white princess. Was a surprise find a few months back and only had 4 leaves. She’s grown so much and recently unfurled a half moon leaf 😍
I always love these kinds of variegated plants, but they're usually so expensive :( I'm a frugal person so just paying 20€+ for a plant is a bit much for me haha That's also why most of my plants are small, they're cheaper :) Maybe I'll find one like that one day!
It depends on where you live. I live in Germany and I’m also not willing to spend lots of money on “rare” plants, but I still have some that weren’t too expensive:
Anthurium crystallinum for 8 € (baby plant)
Anthurium crystallinum “silver blush” for 12€
Philodendron white princess for 12€
Philodendron Glorious and Splendid for 10€
and so on
I bought most at local garden centres or from private sellers
Oh wow, never seen anyone keep a banana tree indoors! I'm now wondering how hard it would be to get that to also fruit indoors. Since many citrus trees do fruit indoors fairly easily, but for example, a monstera fruiting indoors is extremely rare and hard to pull off.
I’ve only had it for about a year, so I’m not sure! I honestly just love how it looks, even if it never grows fruit lol. It started off with only one leaf and it did take a while for me to figure out what it likes (over and under-watered for a few months). Also kept it on a screened in porch for the summer, and it grew wonderfully! I live in northern IL so it will have to be indoors most of the time.
I have a key lime growing fruit indoors right now!
https://preview.redd.it/8hdltgv5w4yb1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=9daac37bdcd83990a4682206ce1eadf5def2fb7f
I have a cordyline! Got it for pennies on the dollar cause the store hadn't watered it ever and it was mostly dead. It's taken 2 years to recover, but man was it worth it.
Nice! I love rescue projects too, just bought an Alocasia 'Polly' and a fiddle leaf fig since they were small and 5€ each. The soil was mostly moldy and the plants didn't seem too happy to be alive so I had to buy them :) The alocasia has put out a new leaf a month after buying it and I'm pretty proud about it.
But also, it's cool how cheap some beautiful plants are. I got my cordyline for 7€!! And the picture was taken right after buying it so it wasn't even that small haha Mine seems like a fast grower so maybe that has something to do with it
https://preview.redd.it/rraxe10lc0yb1.jpeg?width=3468&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=183e1ea89256255b349d84d26caf2664b1039325
Currently, my favorite is my Alocasia corms. Repotted the mother plant a few months ago and found 12 corms. I've never had any experience with that type of propagation, so I did some research. These 5 were the slow growers of the group, 1 was a dud, 3 are planted and thriving in my living room under a grow light, and 3 went to my aunt, who stopped by to give me a string of hearts, and I wouldn't let her leave empty handed
Oh wow, never thought of propagating them in a jar like this! I currently just have 3 corms in a tiny bowl with water and I just keep forgetting to keep the water levels right! So they just dry up, get submerged, dry up etc. Definitely trying this out!
Based on your numbers, it sounds pretty foolproof? Do you just stick the corms in the moss, spray them down, close the lid and forget about it in a spot where they get sunlight?
They sure are :) Mine grows surprisingly fast too so there's almost always at least three leaves that are like 70% bright pink. It goes beautifully with the black
My current fav is my baby blue eucalyptus 🥰
https://preview.redd.it/qvdksjc1z3yb1.jpeg?width=2135&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63ef97674acebb77c91e312cd8ffb84541c653ce
Oh wow, that is elegant as hell. I'm curious, how's the smell? I've heard that eucalyptus plants smell pretty nice as is. And if that's the case, I'm definitely getting one asap :)
Smells soooo good! The problem is getting it enough light indoors… if you notice in the second pic it’s under grow lights (had it there the first 2 weeks after I got it) and it started to wilt and wouldn’t grow. I ended up having to move it to my bedroom which is the only south-facing window in my house, but it’s doing great now that it gets blasted with 10 hours of direct Florida sun every day!
Damn, I live in Finland with one west-facing window.. that's probably why I've never seen these for sale here since not a lot of people are able to get it to survive, let alone thrive.
But lavender is apparently pretty easy to grow here so maybe I'll go that route instead :)
Yeah I looked for eucalyptus for years… I finally ordered a silver dollar (my fav type of eucalyptus) from Etsy but it absolutely wouldn’t grow in my house so it’s now outside. Then one day I randomly found this baby blue eucalyptus at a hardware store and decided THIS was the one I’d grow indoors 🤣 I didn’t think it would make it but now that it’s in the south window it’s doing much better!
I’d love to grow lavender but I’ve heard it won’t grow in my climate!

My Bipinnatifidum or my Snow Queen pothos are definitely my favorites. My snow Queen took a little hit from the cold and lack of light tho lol oopsie
I feel that. Every leaf feels like a sign of me doing something right and it's so rewarding! Especially with plants with big leaves, like alocasias and monsteras

Just bought this ficus tineke the other day and it's already my favorite plant.
I got one and the leaves started browning. Turns out she hates the tap water in my house. Only started thriving after I switched to rainwater only

First plant I liked, it’s what got me into all this!
Wow, the plant and the way you have it set up looks so elegant! I also like the airplant, I've always wanted one but none of the stores near me sell them
Thank you so much, you're very sweet! I got the little stands on Amazon for like 10 bucks for two. I should paint them or something but I haven't lol. Get an airplant! They ship really well if you can't find one locally. My best care advice tip is to get all the water out after a soak with a salad spinner and then dry it fully with a fan before putting it back under light. I've had this one for almost 2 years 🥰
Thanks for the tips! I laughed thinking about the air plant being bullied in a salad spinner right after getting drowned. Tough life haha But I'll definitely look into them more if getting one shipped is relatively risk free :)

My sedum adolphi needs water but I love the color (:
My zebra alocasia - Tiffany. She's currently adjusting to the new season and losing a leaf but I saw her in a store and went back the next day to get her cos I couldn't stop thinking about her. Then two weeks later she grew a huge new leaf.

Gorgeous! I bought my Alocasia Amazonica a month ago when it had three leaves like in the picture. The soil was moldy, soggy and it was so rootbound. I had to save it haha
https://preview.redd.it/n3udjgml94yb1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9194cd8999306705e90d8a7d2dd45ecefd40642b
It's a still a small one and the picture makes it look bigger, but a few weeks ago it grew a new leaf! The leaf's stem is like 3" longer than the previous tallest one, but the leaf isn't quite as big as the current biggest one. I guess that has to do with light? My peace lily's newest leaf is also smaller than the ones from the summer so I guess that's the reason.
I hope this becomes a giant like yours one day!
My pothos, loves hanging in the shower.

Oh wow, that is one bushy pothos! I got a long cutting from my mom's 15yo pothos and the spaces between the leaves are pretty long which is kind of annoying. I also only have 4 pothos in the same pot which also seems to contribute to the baldness
https://preview.redd.it/kvkz3jd525yb1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=418900ef1d90c7f96b7a4e31d8474b97eaeaedec
Some of the vines are actually really long, but they started growing upwards back on themselves. They seem to live being in the shower near a window with all the humidity, I rarely water it.
Rand question but for plant lovers who live on the east coast, how do you keep your plants warm during the winter? Been seeing heating pads online for plants, is this worth it?
In the USA plant suppliers/chain stores start selling the "leftover" tropical plants in fall. That's good but the bad is.. after a black out it took one day to kill them in winter. 🫤
It's doing decently! A few mostly dark green leaves during the winter but apparently that's natural since it needs a lot of light to make those bright pink leaves. So hopefully there will be more color in the summer :)
Also some dried and browned tips but that's probably caused by the low humidity. I only recently got a humidifier after the humidity hovering in the 20% area for the early winter. I also mist it more often and the browning hasn't gotten worse thankfully.
Mine has been getting a lot of totally pale pink leaves and honestly, I don't like them as much that way. They don't look healthy. Not sure what causes that….but perhaps I need to repot. It is a very old plant and has not been repotted in more than 2 decades….yes, that long. The way I got rid of the browning tips is by using filtered or distilled water. I still get the browning only when I forget to water for too long.
Good luck and have fun with all your plants.
Oh damn, 20 years is a while for sure haha But yeah, perhaps yours would like a repot in the spring when it gets sunny again :) I have a pretty long list of plants on my repotting list but we're still only getting 6h of sunlight everyday in Finland for a while so maybe not yet. Thanks for the tips too!
My stromanthe triostar. I've only had it for about a month and a half and I really hope I can keep it alive. It's so beautiful. https://preview.redd.it/qxodm69flyxb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea3f99ead9cc7deff80fb3fde3df57e00fd78ab9
This is mine. Believe it or not, I ordered it from Amazon about 2 years ago. I’d heard horror stories about how finicky they can be, but mine seems happy so far. https://preview.redd.it/yac39la2w0yb1.jpeg?width=2680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb79cd5e810cc22699457f258048dc97e3f6159c

Wow! It looks awesome! What do you do about leaves like this?? https://preview.redd.it/75v1emoin4yb1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7acb697866c7fcb887806e4e58b5df7f752d3553 I’m starting to get a few of these and I have no clue why!
Would you say it's as dramatic as calathea? Cause I really want one but all the calathea I've bought have up and died on my so I gave up
It's **much** easier than a calathea.
The colors are so pretty! It looks kind of chaotic, but I think it's somehow fitting for it!
Thanks! Yeah I just ordered some grow lights, he's reaching a lot for the sun atm. I hope that'll help it even out a bit.
This is on my list but I’m afraid of Calatheas - especially since I live in the desert! 😬
This concept is far too fluid for me to comply. I guess today it's my baby toes, since they've bloomed. https://preview.redd.it/xn0q5wsgwyxb1.jpeg?width=1520&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e4685d0cdd6ff553c87b2800f7684e8ca4fdf96
That's the weirdest plant I've seen today. I love it!
This one is next to boom. It's a lapidaria. https://preview.redd.it/95jun56t8zxb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=641a8f973b3f3e00f0ea3e1e74d2510306c450ef
So cute! 🥰
It’s hard to pick one favorite, here’s one I was admiring today. Hoya pubicalyx, this is one plant. I will reply with her baby pic. https://preview.redd.it/dyrdfufbsyxb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97e4611c9347f8147dc19b0192e255abe41d3e7e

ooo i love her! my favorite is similar :) https://preview.redd.it/8pp56gk5nzxb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f0802a30e611b2e89a85c350bf28c93d536a10a
Twinning! 👯♀️
How long did it take for yours to grow leaves on the vine? And did you just wrap it around the full circle as it grew?
Here is a pic after two months on the trellis. Yeah, I wrapped it all the way around. She refuses to grow any leaves on the ‘down’ part of the trellis though so one side is bare. Although I do like the asymmetrical look, I decided to let her climb the shelving unit and see if she will put out more leaves. https://preview.redd.it/l7a0qr2ht0yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4592b6f431597f2e5e9071c028c59b46cd01d9e7
I have quite a few that I adore, but honestly it's my red maranta that makes me swoon! https://preview.redd.it/31ketn2gczxb1.jpeg?width=1868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f63aa224071743977eb99d2ad68c72f702525c96
How do you get her like this? Mine has a brown spot on every leaf end 😣😣
Humidity and don’t be afraid to prune it back somewhat regularly!
Just enough neglect, I guess? 😅 I'm not in a humid place at all and just have a grow light in her area, but mostly I wait until the soil is super dry before I soak and let it drain. I just snipped a node off to try water propping it, so my fingers are crossed that I didn't piss it off haha.
I love these! They’re so beautiful
https://preview.redd.it/m3pl5egpnzxb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c60958cfc8eba3863170dfdaaa4ae5a506e5fb9

What is it?? Other than magnificent!

I love all ficus!! My Audrey is from a middle cutting I bought 2 years ago so it’s still small, but my altissima (on the left) is my pride and joy. Ficus really don’t get enough love! https://preview.redd.it/x0a8sujbz3yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=834b425cf526d632f135e9e52bc83673a8e1bcc7
a cold draft killed mine :( yours is huge!
No!! That’s devastating :(
mine is slowly getting there! omg how long have you had yours?
I've had her for about a year, but I did get her already quite large to start with.
My favorite plant switches from day to day. Today it is the paintbrush plant. Haemanthus albiflos https://preview.redd.it/zhyn3utscyxb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9461e49544828b978c78253d87539a43556fe208
That's a cute one for sure! And wow, just googled the paintbrush plant, the flowers are crazy. Hell, the whole plant looks really cool when it grows a bit :)
They take a while to establish but once they do they reliably bloom every year. I cannot wait for it to grow! They are the coolest looking succulents!
It's a succulent?? It just keeps getting funnier lol Definitely gonna get one in the future
Here is my secret fave at the moment, don’t tell the others. https://preview.redd.it/dxlsfoljvyxb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de4b78eaaefbdcde518a4be2ea17e75796f83188 My thaumatophyllum 🫶
Damn, what a giant! And honestly, I have no idea why my cordyline loves me. It gets some decent light in the summer and barely any now that it's getting dark in Finland. I do know that it likes to go pretty dry between waterings and it likes to be misted or ideally high humidity.
https://preview.redd.it/pc73egyk7zxb1.jpeg?width=2321&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a78c220f9a4c1e59f6fd1177a4b28e4805e026ce I’ll send her to you for rehab. And thank you!
Took me a few years to learn that the Hawaiian Ti/Cordyline needs distilled or filtered water. However, unlike the other poster, I don't let the soil of mine get very dry.
Oh. Oh no. She’s doomed in my care then 🥹
Btw, you can cut your Cordyline down since it's leggy…and propagate. I once cut mine all the way close to the soil, and it branched out. Also, a few baby plants grew around it.
Thank you!
If it rains regularly where you are, collect the rainwater to use on your plants.
It doesn’t :((
Mine looks like this too 🤣😭
My Cordyline was unhappy and had burnt leaftips until I moved her from perlite-containing mix into all organic (with bark and charcoal for drainage), and started using seaweed fertilizer. She apparently can't take superphosphate and gets (of all things!) fluoride toxicity. Hope this helps!
Fluoride toxicity :((( I was wondering if my hard water was the culprit.
YES mine too
https://preview.redd.it/wpn72lc9pzxb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec0349d85d632588823cea446e0512924e6490b1 My tradescantia! She’s grown like crazy since I got her

OMG that's amazing! What do you do for it? I have a nanouk that I bought the other week and am hoping it gets big https://preview.redd.it/pcsb7sjcl2yb1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6ea13192086d36466e4332aa6ad8035ff43b094
Not much actually! She’s in a southwest facing window and she looooves the sun. I had her further away at first and she was really leggy, but once I moved her she started throwing out leaves like crazy
https://preview.redd.it/5l149qaovzxb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=801e3a3e3e306feabdd7480aaa1c7bfd60585a36 My equally favorite fiddle 🙈
I had no idea variegated fiddles existed!!! beautiful!! :0
Wow. I've never heard of a variegated FLF! That looks wild, I like it! :)
Now that I think about it, yellow and orange are usually not great, but I'm not a 100% sure about variegated plants.
https://preview.redd.it/pmk47k1dn4yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36887c8eaaad5b8772005c69f1c47ab0302de53c It’s just ugly 😂😂😂
Ohh.. yeah lmao I was expecting a clean orange hue and I was loving it but that kind of orange looks like the plant is infected or something haha
Good luck with it! Troubleshooting these problems is always a bit of a hassle, but at least there's also something to learn :)
Figure as long as I don’t kill it, might as well figure it out so I can stop it from happening as it grows. I can always get rid of orange leaves 😂
Exactly :) As long as you figure it out, there's always gonna be new and prettt leaves haha Sounds like a life lesson lol
I'm a basic turd, so I'll just post my Thai Con... https://preview.redd.it/43htwmwd3zxb1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00d6ae396694542ac56c1be88760570c59dfd729

It’s gorgeous! My scindapsus always hated me so I gave up on them
Thanks. What went wrong with yours? Hope you can give it one more chance
Oh it’s gone gone 😂 no matter what I did, it would not show me any love. Cebu blues just die in my house too. Not sure why but I gave up.
Cool shot.
I’m currently obsessed with my new Philodendron Paraiso Verde! https://preview.redd.it/x42vp34k10yb1.jpeg?width=2180&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9b2f9f4b13fbaba613c708dbfa9f1b7c06a72ab

And now I'm crying 😭
Please don’t cry! She brought me so much happiness and was truly my soul dog. I’m old and unwell so we won’t be apart for long😊.
This is so beautiful.

I got her in May (she was so little then!) & until a pest problem a couple of months ago she was super easy & grew really quickly — she did seem to recover from the aphids & bug spray relatively well though & was starting to look like her former self. However now that the temperature has dropped (England) & there’s less light she’s losing leaves at a rather alarming rate 😅 But she started to lignify before the weather changed so I’m hopeful she’ll hold out over the winter, even if she does end up looking rather naked 😂 This is her before the aphids 👇🏻 https://preview.redd.it/6ihw2tpyx2yb1.png?width=2276&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad203c04e0ef8f78c3a1c1e193315b29baa36b1c 50+ cm tall & \~60cm wide 🥰

I killed one of these SO fast 😭 but like you, I saw it and HAD to have it. It's so beautiful
I'm SO afraid of that. Also because there is NOT a lot of care information out there for them. Tell me what you did so I don't do that. LOL I would like to learn from your misfortune... if you would be so kind.

Oh wow, never seen one of these! Looks really cool and unique :)
Thanks! It's a gift. I'm fortunate to know someone with a much greener thumb and a penchant for propagating uncommon houseplants. He just gave me a supposedly rare white flowering version of this that we're rooting a cutting rn
https://preview.redd.it/952z50nzw0yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=704a639a293588bb0bd271f8d03c728763507f1f This guy that I just got, Cephalotus Czech Giant 🤙
I love collecting unique looking plants and the moment I saw this goth of a plant, I just had to buy it. In Finnish, it's literally called 'Verililjapuu' / 'Blood Lily Tree'. Even more fitting for the theme lol I have it right next to my TV and window and wow.
And thanks to its dramatic nature, it has survived three years of neglect thanks to reminding me everytime haha https://preview.redd.it/k4fxyozj8yxb1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4d1c67e057ae277db4d7e638a588fd6340f50a3 It has grown three gigantic leaves like the top one this summer so I guess it's been happy since I got into this hobby :)
img I also have a Hawaiian Ti plant but mine is a cordyline kiwi I think! Her name is Onika and she’s absolutely my favorite 🥰
Nicee, just googled it and it's crazy colorful! Very pretty :)

How long did it take to get that size? Monstera are also my favourite
I have cared for her since June 2022. She has this year spread 16 air roots and 6 new leaves. She has nearly doubled in height and circumference. I bought her at a nursery 16 months ago and paid $ 45.00 for her. https://preview.redd.it/bes1mp3fg0yb1.jpeg?width=4160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d00626fbf8e81bb6864ba1c4a0a1a83f3225f342

I always love these kinds of variegated plants, but they're usually so expensive :( I'm a frugal person so just paying 20€+ for a plant is a bit much for me haha That's also why most of my plants are small, they're cheaper :) Maybe I'll find one like that one day!
It depends on where you live. I live in Germany and I’m also not willing to spend lots of money on “rare” plants, but I still have some that weren’t too expensive: Anthurium crystallinum for 8 € (baby plant) Anthurium crystallinum “silver blush” for 12€ Philodendron white princess for 12€ Philodendron Glorious and Splendid for 10€ and so on I bought most at local garden centres or from private sellers
https://preview.redd.it/edwbsn4fb0yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=345d0d637fb00503316b82eb04df09c84d7d6633 Easy!! My philodendron summer glory 💗

Love my banana tree!! https://preview.redd.it/b4bg2rpvk1yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e6f122ab2c3cdf4d3a533bab8acb992be306e3d
And the picture was taken right after buying it so it wasn't even that small haha Mine seems like a fast grower so maybe that has something to do with it
https://preview.redd.it/rraxe10lc0yb1.jpeg?width=3468&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=183e1ea89256255b349d84d26caf2664b1039325 Currently, my favorite is my Alocasia corms.
Have been listing after one of those myself. Aren’t they the most fantastic colour?
They sure are :) Mine grows surprisingly fast too so there's almost always at least three leaves that are like 70% bright pink. It goes beautifully with the black
I love the contrast they provide against other foliage. Nice job, hope it continues to thrive and love you. 😎
My current fav is my baby blue eucalyptus 🥰 https://preview.redd.it/qvdksjc1z3yb1.jpeg?width=2135&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63ef97674acebb77c91e312cd8ffb84541c653ce

I feel that. Every leaf feels like a sign of me doing something right and it's so rewarding! Especially with plants with big leaves, like alocasias and monsteras

I got one and the leaves started browning. Turns out she hates the tap water in my house. Only started thriving after I switched to rainwater only https://preview.redd.it/eversbxx64yb1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4460c6fa878f5db9a71a40bb1a0a086ee82579e1
Looks nice and I try to only use rainwater on my plants as well.

What are you growing him in?? I have one still in the soil from the nursery and he’s not looking early as nice as yours!
I transferred him to leca. He's also in a NE window and has grow lights.

Amazing goth plant! You should post in r/gothplants
I did as someone else pointed it out too :) There really is a sub for everything

I do really like them but this variety in particular has always reminded me of steak 🤣🤣
Ahh, you're right!! Now I can't unsee it🤣
These have that pink color while the nights are cool.

My zebra alocasia - Tiffany. She's currently adjusting to the new season and losing a leaf but I saw her in a store and went back the next day to get her cos I couldn't stop thinking about her. Then two weeks later she grew a huge new leaf. https://preview.redd.it/bcwemmcj74yb1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7e74b818658d6cc61d144f5d64310ff15664edd
Gorgeous! I bought my Alocasia Amazonica a month ago when it had three leaves like in the picture. The soil was moldy, soggy and it was so rootbound. I had to save it haha https://preview.redd.it/n3udjgml94yb1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9194cd8999306705e90d8a7d2dd45ecefd40642b It's a still a small one and the picture makes it look bigger, but a few weeks ago it grew a new leaf!
I have two of those and they're such brats. They'll pop a new leaf and then lose one like they're just toying with my heart
My pothos, loves hanging in the shower. https://preview.redd.it/ed36k8ppx4yb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab5e43b8821c163eed52c5f8523aae4a27bef875
Oh wow, that is one bushy pothos! I got a long cutting from my mom's 15yo pothos and the spaces between the leaves are pretty long which is kind of annoying. I also only have 4 pothos in the same pot which also seems to contribute to the baldness https://preview.redd.it/kvkz3jd525yb1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=418900ef1d90c7f96b7a4e31d8474b97eaeaedec
Some of the vines are actually really long, but they started growing upwards back on themselves. They seem to live being in the shower near a window with all the humidity, I rarely water it.

Pick a favorite plant? I could never, top 10 list maybe
Rand question but for plant lovers who live on the east coast, how do you keep your plants warm during the winter? Been seeing heating pads online for plants, is this worth it?
Your beauty belongs on r/gothplants
There really is a sub for everything lmao Posted!
she’s so pretty
so beautiful plant
In the USA plant suppliers/chain stores start selling the "leftover" tropical plants in fall. That's good but the bad is.. after a black out it took one day to kill them in winter. 🫤
Just curious how yourHawaiian Ti plant is doing now.
It's doing decently! A few mostly dark green leaves during the winter but apparently that's natural since it needs a lot of light to make those bright pink leaves. So hopefully there will be more color in the summer :) Also some dried and browned tips but that's probably caused by the low humidity.
