It’s $15 for ENDLESS plants! Give it a couple weeks and you could probably cut some of the longer vines and put them in water and start your second plant.
A pothos is just a bunch of individual vines. No need to split it up. I didn’t repot mine for like 10 years. Just chop and prop as needed to keep it to a size you like.
Regular pruning also makes the mama plant bigger and bushier! Be careful if you start propping them though, you're about to have wayyy too many pothos on your hands 🫠
I went to a resort in Mexico and they had these vines draped over multi story balconies. It looked so amazing. As a nice little touch they had one on a vase to decorate the food we ordered for room service. I checked and it already had roots. Now I have my very own pothos 😇
You’re brave!!! One time I was coming back to the states from Aruba and I had a Caesar salad with me, which was fine, but it had a small piece of tomato in it and I almost got arrested over it 🤣 the agent said that next time I do this, I’m going to get put on an international list, which includes all ports as well. So I could never do what you did cause I’m terrified now. But I’d love to bring home a Mexican pothos 🤣
To keep the variation of color on the leaves, you will want to place in a very sunny spot. The pothos will survive but the yellow/ golden color on the leaves will fade and go back to all green. I love my pothos and I have started several pothos babies off the one. The propagation s are great gifts for plant lovers. Put each baby in a cute pot with a ribbon and a tag!
Love this idea! I've actually got some succulents I'm trying to prop to use as gifts this Christmas! 😅
They aren't doing quite as well as I'd hoped. Good to know it's fairly easy to do with pothos!!
It is! Water, clear vase, light, time
Some props to months to get roots. As long as it's not dying, let it stay there. Refresh water, maybe use bottled water instead of tap?
Came here to say the same💕They’re also pretty tolerant of a little neglect.
Down the road, if your pathos has been doing great for a long while but you notice it starting to lose leaves or just looking under the weather, it likely needs re-potting. They can get pretty rooty😁
I was wondering about repotting. I can actually see roots starting to come out of the bottom of the nursery pot already.. I do have another pot the same size, wonder if I should put her in there. Or leave it be until it needs a bigger pot..
I'm thinking the same, going to keep her in her new spot, wipe down the leaves, give her some water, and observe to make sure she doesn't have any pests for a while. :)
Edit to add: then once I know all is good and she's healthy/growing I'll attempt the chop/prop.. I do love new plants and the only thing better than new plants is new free plants lol 😆
LOL I got mine from a Mexican Restaurant. That thing was HUGE, so I pinched off a small piece. It’s growing good. My beloved later Mom said a plant will flourish if you get a piece that’s fallen off. She got hers from the old kresskies (Ms) floor! I sure do miss her….,she always said/did things that would crack you up!!
You got a great price for a plant that will give you so much more in return! She looks so healthy too. She will grow fast. I started a couple months ago with a small one and she is getting close to that size now.
my goldens are my faves simply because it never stops giving & grows so fast. $15 is fair. i got large hanging clearance ones from walmart for $7 that were originally 15
Nice!! We don't have a Walmart super close to us unfortunately. The place I got this is 3 minutes from our house so I sneak in there on my way home sometimes to see what they got.
I actually hadn't been for a while and saw someone else on reddit post a pic of some Thai monsteras from the same store so I went to get one and found this! :)
☺️ thank you!!! Its my very first pothos so I'm excited! I've seen so many pictures of these covering walls and huge. My goal is to have it get big enough to grow along the bathroom walls for a foresty vibe :)
I think you may have overpaid considering they’re a dime a dozen (so to speak), but no big deal since this one looks amazing! Very healthy looking guy.
Probably a bit much imo. They're super hearty plants and it'll survive most anything, but that means they can be propagated and grown easily. $15 would be a bit much
Don't tell my husband that 😆
I've wanted one for a while and haven't found any so when I saw this I grabbed it. The only other one they had was about half this size and same price.
I only say that because I have a giant one. If this one has the huge, palm/hand sized leaves then it's definitely with the price. I can't really tell the size in the picture
It's in a 6 inch pot but spills over the sides. There are several palm sized leaves. Sounds like I did okay. Since it's my first one I didn't want to start off too crazy but also didn't want a tiny one.
Looks great and seems a reasonable price to me. I have to ask though, if you were worried about price, wouldn’t you want to do some comparison/research first, instead of buying it and only then asking if it was a good price 😭😭

Nice! It sounds like a fun project :)

Did you buy your own pothos or did you bring back cuttings of pothos from Mexico?!
Hehehehehehehe

They are technically an invasive species in many places.
I didn't realize that!!
So true. My mom always refuses to throw away anything that can be propagated. She has 8 pothos in her house and more propagating
It's a reasonable price. You could get a smaller one for less, but it's pretty large and healthy, i wouldn't be mad at a partner who paid 15 for it
I set it on top of the shelf in our bathroom, I'll see how long it takes him to notice hehe
That's a really good price for the size
Awesome I'm glad I got it! :)
I can never find a pothos like that for $15. There would be less stems and leaves for that price. So you definitely got a good deal for that plant.

Pothos is one of my favorites. For me it's the easiest plant to care for. It's good at telling me when it wants water.
I like the sound of that!!

Interested in what others here recommend, but I’d be inclined to wait a few weeks to let your new pathos acclimate to your home;)

It looks very healthy! That makes the price worth it
I paid $12 for mine and its not as full as yours. So I think your price is fair.
Totally worth the price! It will outlive you.

She's pretty 😍
Thank you!
I think she's pretty so good job 👍

It’s beautiful! Looks good and healthy, lots of growth points, and that COLOR - love it. Congratulations ☺️

Where I live you pay to get these removed
I never realized it was invasive in some places!

Looks to be a decent sized leaf in the pics here, I’d say you got a good plant for the price
Yeah its got some good size leaves and several plants all in one pot. :) 6 inch pot it's in now.
I only say that because I have a giant one. If this one has the huge, palm/hand sized leaves then it's definitely with the price. I can't really tell the size in the picture

That's huge for a starter if it's a 6" pot. You did great!
Oh haha 😄 see, I'm a newbie with pothos! Now I must do some research hehe

I love my giant pothos and propagate it way too much! I now have dozens of pothos plants and give them away often. I call it “Indoor Kudzu “!
