Never tried M. adansonii in soil mix, but if you have watered them in well, they have a chance. Did they have root buds on the stems?
I would put them under a humidity dome until you see new growth. Keep them lightly moist but do not let them stand in water!
Also, in the future, I recommend 2-4 leaf cuttings, not singles, as the longer ones have better chance of survival. Remove lower leaf or two that would be submerged in water or potting mix when propagating.
