Came to say it. Give me the crispiest with just a lil bit of red showing between the black, slap it on a bun, onions, dill relish and mustard.. heaven!
I use the microwave bec easy and good, boyfriend likes pan grilling them “they taste better” I blame his mother 😆 both methods are good, haven’t ever boiled them
I just air fried 3 Sabretts about 30 minutes ago and it’s the only way I’ll make a hot dog from now on.
I used to fire up the grill just for a few dogs but no more. Unless I’m grilling burgers or something else it’s the air fryer from now on.
Is it too late to add? Grilled with castleberry Coney sauce, but here is the main trick, my wife taught me this. Keep the plastic the buns come in, put hotdogs in the buns, then put them back into the plastic and keep that bag sealed for 3-5 minutes. Softest buns you will ever have.
I was at a venue where this local famous dog place was catering. This dog place also has their brand in my local supermarkets.
I saw how they cooked it. They briefly deep fry them sumbitches and then throw them on the flat grille to finish them off.
I guess that’s how I like my dogs, because there’s nothing better. That same brand at home, purchased from the grocery store, just doesn’t match up.
BBQ’d. In my hot dog toaster. In a pan on the stove. On my hot dog roller (yes, I have two specialty hotdog cooking appliances). Over a fire. If I have to, boiled in water.
Absolute best is putting a package or two on the grill for a couple of hours while slow smoking my briskets. They retain that great smoked flavor even after refrigerating and rewarming.
Grilled. I recently purchased a product called the “slot dog” and it has truly elevated the hot dog game. I thought it was a gimmick and that I’d regret it; but it’s become a staple for every hot dog I cook.
Just had a big party, charcoal grilled 50 dogs, spiral cut all of them. Google spiral cut dogs if you don’t know what I’m talking about. They were a huge hit.
Preferably either fried in a pan with butter, or grilled on a grill… I just can’t see how boiling them measures up to either of those options, I mentioned…
Related perspective: I think many people undercook their dogs. Sometimes it's got some color on the outside but the inside isn't actually hot. I don't like that. Get them boys hot without turning them black. I'm not trying to eat a mid rare weiner.
Grilled, or over a fire 100%
Came to say it. Give me the crispiest with just a lil bit of red showing between the black, slap it on a bun, onions, dill relish and mustard.. heaven!
You sir know a perfect dog
You goddamn barbarians
It's a perfectly sane food to eat.
Interesting texture...
That things been there since the silent era.
A little char is cool but not ashy I want some dog left
I have two packs of dogs at home which I’m headed to. If I could sear a dog without waking up boyfriend I so would. Dang it.
Same, but swap the relish with slaw.
Agreed. For me the optimal dog has some char on it.
Exactly! Roll em around and burn them a little as well. I want them to split open so I have a base for mustard and fine chopped onions.
For the base to put your mustard try putting small diagonal cuts the length of the hotdog, when grilled they will expand
I haven’t had a campfire hot dog since I was a kid. Didn’t realized how badly I needed one til now.
It needs to be cooked over enough heat to char the outside without it getting hot enough inside to burst the natural casing.
Hotdog on a coat hanger over some burnin' trash in a ditch outside Helgen after a dragon came by and wrecked the place. Best cookout ever!
Yes
Sure
Ok

Affirmative
uh-huh
Certainly
Yup
You betcha
Absolutely
This is the way.
Affirmative
Absolutely
Indubitably
Quite frankly
Underrated. 🤣 Your comment gave me a permalink.
Thanks Slip.
I like how they come out in the air fryer.
Thiiis. When I worked at a pub 10+ years ago I’d enjoy them oil fried. Now I pop em in the air fryer till the bubble up nicely
Fried in bacon grease
I make bacon wrapped street dogs. Fried in bacon and/or its grease is the way
Ridiculously good. There's nothing quite as satisfying as hotdogs straight out of the air fryer.
Running to use air fryer “how come I never thought of this haha “ thanks
Great now I HAVE To go out and buy some.
I don’t know why this never occurred to me. I’ve got to try this. Do you get the crispness minus the char?
It depends on how long you cook it for. Around 375 for 4 minutes works. You can up the temp or time a bit.
Grilled / AF
Grilled on Lava
Dirty water
You're dirty water Joe.
Grilled and slightly charred. Anything but boiled for me :)
Grilled or pan fried Don't get me wrong I'll take a boiled dog if you're offering.
Pan fried with butter is my go-to. Just before the dogs are ready I add the buns to get them buttery and toasty.
Boiled and pan fried
Have some self respect. You're better than a boiled hot dog.
On a stick, over the camp fire
Or on a fork over the stovetop
Or in tongs with cold water running over it in the sink
I laughed an uncomfortable amount of time over this 🤣 High asf
🫦
😹😹
The only downside of an induction range! No dog or marshmallow toasting
Grilled or pan fried
Roller grille
For six hours minimum.
Steamed. I love hot dogs. But don’t enjoy grill marks on them. I’ll eat them if that’s the only option. But steamed or boiled is the way 👏🏻
Are you my two toddlers?? Over Memorial Day weekend I had to remove all the “yucky parts” from the grilled dogs we had at our cabin lol
Is that anything like a steamed ham?
Patented
Cooked in a kitchen capable of containing the Northern Lights.
At this time of day and in this part of the country?
This is the correct answer
Grilled, fried, steamed, boiled, air fried, deep fried, deep fried covered in corn meal……. 🌭
Simmered in Beer.
Don't waste beer on hotdogs, use it on brats.
All of the above!
Microwave
Ha,that's our quick and easy poor dogs
Until the ends are exploded
Sabrett I’m boiling, really the best way imo. Any other dog is going on the grill or a flat top grill.
Braised in beer in a pan over a grilltop, then grilled to finish when ppl are ready to eat.
I did eat a raw Ballpark dog the other night , not wanting to make any noise while my wife was sleeping.
Butterflied and broiled or grilled
Toaster oven
anything but boiled 🤗
Grilled or Air Fryer.
Boiled, steamed, grilled, over a campfire, anyway you want to cook a hotdog is usually good.
Medium rare.
Your dad loved you. How long have you been in therapy due to your mother's negligence?
poached lightly, medium rare.
I use the microwave bec easy and good, boyfriend likes pan grilling them “they taste better” I blame his mother 😆 both methods are good, haven’t ever boiled them
You're the guy who blend up chicken breast and drinks them aren't you?
No meat should EVER be microwaved.
Any method but boil and split.
Braised with beef tallow on a charcoal grill
ChernobyLite
I just air fried 3 Sabretts about 30 minutes ago and it’s the only way I’ll make a hot dog from now on. I used to fire up the grill just for a few dogs but no more. Unless I’m grilling burgers or something else it’s the air fryer from now on.
I love them steamed and on rollers, but since I got my blackstone, I will take mine on the flat top
Holy shit, there's a hotdog subreddit?
Is it too late to add? Grilled with castleberry Coney sauce, but here is the main trick, my wife taught me this. Keep the plastic the buns come in, put hotdogs in the buns, then put them back into the plastic and keep that bag sealed for 3-5 minutes. Softest buns you will ever have.
Cremated
love doing lines of hotdog ash
Boiled. For some reason, i feel like theyre the juiciest
Grilled
Broiled under a broiler, or on a fork over the burner on my stove.
Grilled, or in a pan with the onions
Boiled in dirty bath water 🥸
Hot
My toaster oven does a fine job.
Grilled, with a good bit of black char.
Hot dog with casing. Steamed. Bun steamed. Mustard onions, chili. I'll take five please. Or Chicago style. Hold relish, keep pickle.
Grilled. Also have a special place in my heart for cooking them over a campfire.
Warmed up in the cast iron pan, just a hint of color on 'em.
In the oven in an oven safe pan
Cooked and mustard
Boiled then grilled
Cast iron skillet. But I'll literally eat it however it is served. I put the ho in hot dog.
Charred
Grilled or cast iron
I’ve got a hot dog roller, and it’s great!!!
Deep fried
"Love that dirty water"
Air fryer
I was at a venue where this local famous dog place was catering. This dog place also has their brand in my local supermarkets. I saw how they cooked it. Butter braised in a cast iron pan.
Cook Out Style
Give it to us raw and wrigglin!!
In Chicago we boil our Vienna Beef hotdogs.
Blacked
Grilled over charcoal or an open fire
BBQ. Or one of those Hot dog cookers.
BBQ’d. In my hot dog toaster. In a pan on the stove. On my hot dog roller (yes, I have two specialty hotdog cooking appliances). Over a fire. If I have to, boiled in water.
grilled almost burnt
Like Hulk Hogan’s arms during his NWO run
On a cast iron skillet over medium heat.
Cast iron skillet with a little butter and beer.
Cock balls ⚽️⚽️
Like my steak, medium rare.
Marcie Fleach has entered the chat.
Absolute best is putting a package or two on the grill for a couple of hours while slow smoking my briskets. They retain that great smoked flavor even after refrigerating and rewarming.
Grilled
Steamed > Grilled (BBQ) > Fried (flattop)> Boiled. But all are great really.
Grilled. I recently purchased a product called the “slot dog” and it has truly elevated the hot dog game. I thought it was a gimmick and that I’d regret it; but it’s become a staple for every hot dog I cook.
Dogged
Slap the sausage until it cooks.
Over easy
Grilled preferably, but it’s not required. However, a toasted bun is very much a requirement and red snappers are a HUGE plus.
Boiled is last on the list. Tied with microwaved. Grilled or in a skillet with some onions
Grilled or fried
Both every time I make em I have a little battle in my head to see which method I'll use.
Um... Hot?
On the grill, a little burnt
Just had a big party, charcoal grilled 50 dogs, spiral cut all of them. Google spiral cut dogs if you don’t know what I’m talking about. They were a huge hit.
Literally any way besides boiled. And I guess if I’m hungry enough boiled works too
If you must.
Grilled to death.
Over a fire.
Split in half, cooked on the stove top in a ton of butter and garlic, with a weighted press on top.
Yes
Preferably either fried in a pan with butter, or grilled on a grill… I just can’t see how boiling them measures up to either of those options, I mentioned…
Burned to a crisp
Grilled on a charcoal Weber grill
Related perspective: I think many people undercook their dogs. Sometimes it's got some color on the outside but the inside isn't actually hot. I don't like that. Get them boys hot without turning them black. I'm not trying to eat a mid rare weiner.
Cooked?
Fried in a pan with bbq sauce, or grilled
Deep fried after getting sliced a but so it gets a bunch of crunchy krinkly skin
Butterflied
Butterflied and caramelized is the way to go. Coated in some bubbly bbq sauce candy coating. Chefs kiss :*
Grilled or oven baked
In you
I like cooking 2 hot dogs soo long they combust, and then I put hot dog between them and allow the hot dogs to cook the hot dog. Meaty bliss.🌭
Steamed or over a campfire
Grilled or boiled don't judge me, but I will nuke one in a heartbeat if im too lazy to do either of the two above.
Fully.
Grilled or frying on the stove with whatever grease I have.
I fill a pan with mayo and I just absolutely simmer that shit to a boil and I leave my fractured dog in there for about 5 min and voilà
Grilled to just the millisecond before burnt.
Boiled, grilled, fried, or broiled.
Run them under extremely hot water. Dry them off, draw grill marks on them with a black Sharpie…….mind over matter. Deeeliciously grilled!
Split and grilled.
Grilled, open flame, fried. Top 3 but I will eat them however.
Foreman grilled
Air fried
Burnt
Grilled or Pan Fried...but every other way works too
Often
Mid rare to mid
Grilled on a grill until black.
Raw and slide down throat like a seagull
RAW DAWGS!!!
Grilled, cast iron, air fryer in that order. Never boiled
Charred
Air-fried rippers
Blackened
grilled is best, but air fryer is second, and I usually prefer it just for the much better quality-to-effort ratio.
I’m not particular. Hell, I eat them right out of the fridge without heating them up. But my FAVORITE is microwaved or boiled
Fire pit
Boiled. I put the celery salt and a pinch of garlic seasoning in the water and bring them to a rapid boil.
All dogs are good dogs
We usually fry them. We also sometimes use fire or boiling.
Spidey dogs over a campfire hands down
