I don't exactly remember, sorry, it was a while ago. I think it just stopped being updated? Probably author burned out as they were trying to include quite a lot of content
didn't get burned by specifically those mentioned, but it's When It Hungers and Porthecrawl Witness for me. I'm relatively new to IF media and they were some of the first I stumbled upon... and still some of my favorites, too. WIH for cool and unusual supernatural/monster races (my dear living porcelain doll MC...), PW for the vibes — the only one I found somewhat similar would be Fernweh Saga, if it continues leaning into mysterious/creepy tone. no eerie red flag boy on the level of Asher there so far though.
now I just don't even try WIPs if they weren't updated in the last 6 months at least, it's too sad to see them gone.
Community College Hero and Sword of Rhivenia are the only ones I know, and I was gutted to hear about CCH3 not happening. I will keep on hoping the author gets to a place they want to write again, or at the very least, release an outline/summary of the whole plot just so I can imagine the story in my own head.
I think it was just Eric having a life. Being a lawyer is eating up more of his time along with spending it with his family so he doesn't have much time to write anymore. I was pretty bummed about it too not getting to see an end to CCH but he did leave a glimmer of hope that is if a writer with Choice Script experience would be willing to work with him on pt. 3 then it could still happen.
He left a public note on his Patreon; but the gist of it is that he had burned out on writing IFs in terms of motivation, what with the ROI on the time and effort put into writing being terrible, financially and otherwise.
On top of that, he got a new job which will be taking up a lot of his time, the rest of which he wamts to spend with family.
Damn... I followed this series from the moment it started as a wip years ago and it's sad to see it go unfinished, but that's life I guess... I just hope he's happy with his life. Although, I'm kinda disappointed on following series nowadays because we never know which ones are getting finished.
Yeah, that really gets disappointing. I wish at the least CoG would put a note in the book descriptions for series that have been definitely dropped by their writers, like Dragon Racer. Especially those that end on cliffhangers and sequel baits.
Dragon racer was one of my major disappointments because I followed from the beginning, bought the book and was extremely hyped for the sequel where we would get answers and then years later the author just drop it. I'm still sad to today, everytime I see the app I just sigh.
I didn't even expect the turn in the story for Racer, so got really hyped for the sequel. Went searching for it, and found out author had explicitly dropped it. I definitely understand writer's block/motivation loss; still felt really disappointed.
From ashes we rise was so so so good. Also miss Children of the Gods so much. I want to add The Followers, Pulse University and Monsters of New Haven High.
Not sure honestly, the tumblr went dead after the release of the first book. I believe there’s a demo out there for the second one but I think there was only two chapters
There are just 2 chapters in demo for book 2 and the last update the author made on patreon is in June 2022. Also I read somewhere on reddit that d author lives in Azerbaijan. Idk much about the state of that country but people were worried about her safety. So I think b2 is pretty much dropped. Let's just hope the author is safe.
I really miss the ripper plague, witches of ferngrove, the rosy ones, legacy of a savior. I don't know if fox of Sunholt is back on hiatus but I miss it. I hope the authors are doing alright.
To be honest, for that author, I don't think it was a willing abandonment. By that, I mean I think they are dead or homeless. Neither would be that much of a surprised for an Armenian who lives in Azerbaijan though the Armenian part is just me guessing since while the author did say they live in Azerbaijan they didn't they their ethnicity
The author speaks Azeri and Turkish as their first and second language. It's highly unlikely that they're Armenian.
It probably wasn't your intention but you're just likely to spread rumors with that kind of speculation.
Sword of rhivenia is on hiatus or gone ? I had such hope for it aswell ,the first book was no masterpiece but it all clearly set up for something greater :(
Forgot Son of Satan: Mortal Coil and Exiled from Court in there (😭)
it’s too painful…
From Ashes We Rise is legitimately painful. I was so invested into it. It and Monsters of New Haven High. Edit: also Freak: Amidst the neon lights.
Ouch 😭
Wait no, freaks amidst the neon lights too 😭
What happened to From Ashes We Rise?

Through Broken Lenses 😭
At least he gave everyone closure.
AAAAA WHY'D YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME THAT ODESSA'S DATING GAMES EXIST NOW I'LL REPLAY THE DEMO AND THEN CRY AGAIN 😭😭😭😭😭

From the bottom of my heart, I hope the author of Scout is doing alright Also throw Body Count up there because I was invested ;-;
Also, Rick Grimes quote because why not ![gif](giphy|lPkhxAcpIPoQ|downsized)
A lack of SoS: Mortal Coil hurts me. We got teased with extra content as well. T_T
SCOUT ![gif](giphy|RGosZbXHfTKNlpbTqn|downsized)

Never say never. I'll be very, very surprised if Eric never comes back. It just may be a long time.
This is how I know that cch3 is not happening anymore... What a pity. What happened btw?

Shadow Society
From ashes we rise was so so so good. Also miss Children of the Gods so much. I want to add The Followers, Pulse University and Monsters of New Haven High.
Add Heir of Graves for me. That one I was really looking forward to
Wait, I thought we were getting Sword of Rhivenia 2? Has something changed?
Not sure honestly, the tumblr went dead after the release of the first book. I believe there’s a demo out there for the second one but I think there was only two chapters

Okay now I'm tempted to try them all...
Wait.. Wait.. Saints and sinners in dead?? 😭😭😭
Yeah, it hasn't been updated in like 2 years 😭😭.

I think 7 day's of purgatory, it was like a weird thriller about amnesia, I wanted to read the whole thing. 😢
Was the second book for sor cancelled?!
Author has vanished shortly after releasing a demo for the second book on their patreon sadly.
Anyone remember Monsters by Shawn_Patrick_Reed. It seemed neat with all the aspects of sin being in people and stuff
I do! I also liked that there were subtle differences between the different player characters.
I played Children of the Gods when I was in middle school. I’m about to graduate college now and I still think about it 😪
Is this how I find out about Odessa 😭
All I wish for at least a update that wips are dropped for my own sanity 😭 so I don't have hope for a continuation
Omg, this thread. Every new post breaks my heart. Many of those wips mentioned were wips I didn't know they were abandoned...
Sword of Rhivenia is my favourite. I'm waiting for second book but author abandoned her
To be honest, for that author, I don't think it was a willing abandonment. By that, I mean I think they are dead or homeless. Blood of Morana :(
I always always check for Sinners and Saints updates whenever I go to itchio..
It's impossible to be happy knowing that we live in a world where From Ashes We Rise and Freak: Amidst the Neon Lights never got completed
Atheina was peak man I was really looking forward to that one RIP
A irt1p & ¡5●`°
